When are we getting a SOLO que?

Trash MammaI··149 votes·5,587 views

Premades at this point are close to tilting me insanely hard. I can deal with losing a game but getting shit from a premade as well as having a 4v5 a random didn't wanna deal with 3 premade idiots trolling it's getting irritating.

Allowing more than a duo in ranked was the worst idea you've had this season, Riot. (arguably the xin buffs too)

When can we get a que for SOLO players so we don't have to deal with the shit premades dish out?

My last game was a 4v5 because our tristana didn't wanna deal with ap lee sin "support" who dives in 1v2 under enemy tower at level 1 (he also had spelltheif) and blames both me and tristana

This is getting out of hand revert thischange or let people play in solo games. Far too many trolls in this game to allow them to be grouped up in ranked

Agreed good sir. I love solo queuing because I get put with 4 complete strangers and it's more of carrying with your own skill rather than relying on who's team has better communication.

PissFromRKelly5 votes

I continue to get a group of 3-4 who refuse to communicate and feed excessively. My KDA, farm, and damage dealt is almost always higher and the rest of the team always proves to be too heavy. I'm unable to climb and this is getting beyond frustrating.

That is the best part. They try to create a system that "lets you play with your friends" which is something we already could do in everything but ranked. Then they created dynamic ranked queue. Which also introduced the "similar tier" requirements. So now you can play with your friends ifthey have a similar rank as your own. God forbid your friend is new and is in bronze and you are in gold. Sorry life sucks! Get friends that are just as good at league as yourself! Should be their new moto.

Again another idea that no one at the table is smart enough to think through. Lets assume every existing issue with the system today was gone. They still don't have a way for you to easily find like minded people, near your tier and skill, with a similar play schedule.... For you to play with!

Great go play with your friends. If you dont have any that sucks because even after 6 years all we have are beta forums which are spammed and only visited by 2% of the player base to find people to play with. Oh yeah and if you play by yourself get owned we destroyed soloQ and made things so much worse for the solo player----- Put that on a T-Shirt and them out as your holiday gift Riot.

Yes they said they are bringing in soloQ. What a majority of these posts are talking about is the fact that they cant make a 100% true soloQ. They have to forcibly draft soloQ players to fill their dynamic Q games.

ForeverLaxx9 votes

Riot doesn't want the solo player playing their game. They were forced into promising a "solo-only" queue because of the backlash of Dynamic Queue, and to top it off, that same solo-only queue will offer no rewards for using it because they see Dynamic as "the future of League". The worst part is that this special queue is only viewed as necessary because Riot doesn't block 4-man premades from DQ like every other 5-man team game does. These other game devs figured out a long time ago that matching a 4-man with a solo player results in that lone solo player getting abused and reported by the 4-man team more often than not, regardless of the game's outcome. To combat the gang up, those games would only allow duo, trio, or full 5-man teams to queue.

It's a bit paradoxical in design, the one Riot decided on. They create a system that heavily encourages you to queue with friends (but only those of your same skill level -- Riot doesn't like it when you play with people too high or too low compared to you) and yet the system still requires there to be solo players to fill gaps while Riot is telling you that being a solo player isn't welcome or how you're supposed to enjoy the game. A lot of the problems would be alleviated if 4-man premades couldn't be a thing but it's unlikely Riot will admit their mistake and take steps to fix it. At least, unlikely until they find some way to spin it as some kind of positive change for the game that further enforces their "you must be part of a premade team to enjoy League optimally" dogma.

You forgot to mention after 6 years they still haven't implemented a system for you to actual find legitimate people to play with. The boards are probably the worst solution imaginable. Dont want solo queue, dont want us to play with people which have a different skill level, but don't provide any way of finding someone who has the same interests, similar skill, and play schedule as your own to play with.

Whoever does the hiring at Riot really needs a new way to evaluate an applicants problem solving and evaluation skills. I didn't think taking a step back and looking at a change from an overall perspective was a rare skill, but apparently I was wrong!

I'm so annoyed playing against premades of 3 in solo q, it's so annoying and you can't do much about it.

Karn Bishop8 votes

The only thing you can do to make riot understand this is to quit playing the game, when they see all the solo Q players vanishing they will panic then care enough to fix it.

This is what I'm doing, wont touch the game till solo queue is back.

Shallers2 votes

That's what I realized and that's what I did. And I took everyone I play with regularly with me. I was the only one who cared, but not the only account to stop logging in because riot killed Solo queue. I really wish all the soloq players would put their money where their mouths are and hit riot where it hurts.

I keep an eye on the boards looking for news on Solo queue, but I don't really log in to play anymore, haven't bought any RP, don't recommend checking the game out to potential new players, and I've been encouraging all my friends to play other games with me. I'd like to think we could all make whatever bean counter is calling the shots at riot notice, but maybe we're just a drop in the bucket like Riot says.

PiVoRx6 votes

I think the biggest issue Riot has to overcome is who will fill premades in DQ if all solo players will migrate to SQ.

WadeWilson133718 votes

So because you have a group you mean more than the solo que player? Because you have friends to play with its okay that the one or two guys left out get to be ignored and likely trolled/flamed the entire game? If youve ever been in that situation, you know EXACTLY why solo que needs to be a thing. Its not fun at all, and of course people will go to solo que to keep themselves away from it. Many many games have something similar to this such as Mercenary Team Deathmatch in Call of Duty and its never a problem. Sure que times will be seconds longer for 99% of people, but it will definately help the community in general as dynamic que is wearing people down, and ive already had 2 of my friends quit because they hate the system.

PiVoRx3 votes

Man, im soloq player, i hate this dynamic shit just as you. But imo thats the thing that delays it at most. Just, how they want DQ to function if there will be no solo players to fill premades?

  1. Remove 4stack

  2. Make 3stack pair with duos

  3. ???

OneSmoothDude3 votes

I don't think removing the 4-stack is a realistic option for them at this point. It's not impossible (they're not too stubborn not to change things that are broken), but that would probably cause more problems than it would solve.

And it's going to get even more unlikely that they'll drop it once they release the social app and clubs and stuff. They're making a huge push to encourage people to play ranked with as many friends as they want.

Also, if we're trying to keep things as competitive as possible, there's another problem with that solution. I would think that 5v4+1 would be a better competitive pairing than a 5v3+2, right? Getting rid of the 4-stack would mean that teams of 5 would either have to wait to play another team of 5, or get placed against a 3+2, which wouldn't be as competitive as we have it now with the option of 5v4+1.

Interesting idea though. I wonder what Riot has said behind closed doors in terms of this discussion.

PiVoRx2 votes

This would probably have longest queue times ever, and it wouldnt be called dynamic queue either, also, what kind of ranked environment is that.

Nuparu4 votes
  1. Dynamic Queue is going to have inherently long queue times if a soloq system comes out (which would be great for people who don't like party queueing!) regardless.

  2. 4 stacks and 3+1+1 are bullshit queues, just saying. Having 3s match with 2s would solve the leftover number counts and 4 stacks shouldn't exist in the first place.

  3. You can queue with 1 2 or 4 of your friends. If you only have 3, as Riot would naturally put it, "find some more friends and fuck off."

Hardly, as it is present and functioning in DOTA 2 already:

  • separate TRUE SOLO/PARTY MMR, each with separate ranked ladder
  • Premades of 4s are not allowed

Riot and their stubbornness in trying to reinvent the wheel again, hah.

Same with the broken new champ select in which the players that actually choose "support/fill" roles are less and less, leading to even further spiralling down and longer queues.

And what about the sudden change in stance and all the big talk about:

_ "We are not enforcing the meta/everyone can play the game their way if they are not being jerks."_

to

"Strict meta system that dosn't allow different playstyles (2 mid/2top/2 jungle) and which will get you punished and banned for not following."

  1. Queue times are already awful, what do you expect?

  2. How would this change the balance at all? 3+2 fighting against other 3+2s wouldn't be a problem?

  3. 4 mans are inherently unhealthy for this type of game (4 people on skype leaves someone on a lone island or 4 people with someone who won't listen to everything will end with one person being flamed worse than someone AFK on a rumble ult)

I don't see why this wouldn't work. Queue times are always going to be high (it's a group queue system, I don't know what the fuck you guys expect but 3+1+1 is barely manageable and the 5stacks against non-5stacks in high elo is a shitfest which would be resolved by having the solos play ranked soloq and those who want to group queue play in dynaq)

  1. The fact that they're forcing us to play with friends to get a reasonable ranked experience is fucking awful, just saying. We've had solo queue for five fucking seasons and now they decide "lol nope fuck off go get some friends or suffer alone unless you're literally Hai with shotcalling or Gosu mechanics in relation to your tier" especially when you get matched with 3+1+1 sets or 4+1 and no one gives a flying fuck about your opinion and then they lose anyways.

Going for something without thinking it thoroughly + ignoring feeback from the preseason and making half assed systems as a result, can't be excused with "they were going for the entire thing", when the "entire thing" was retarded in the first place.

Dynamic Queue in its current form is fundamentally flawed. So is the new champ select in which the players that actually choose "support/fill" roles are less and less, leading to even further spiralling down.

The wheel is already invented, Riot are just too stubborn in trying to re-invent it while thinking they know best.

I don't play Dota 2 so I can't weigh in on how that system works. Voice chat either. What I do know is Riot's business hiring structure every year you have new people at the top with the exception of the "very" top. People straight out of school with no real world "big boy job" experience. I am not making excuses. Quite the opposite. Riot has created this culture that basically does not give them the talent or leadership to come up with logical solutions that meet their for profit structure and provide some sort of balanced and fair player experience.

You are right since dynamic queues have been introduce queue times have increased. I would assume to cover jungle and more likely support. In the past we all had to figure it out ourselves, but that is no longer the case.

The unfortunate truth I feel is Riots top leadership are not capable of admitting a mistake. They will try to develop some sort of solution that would support all 2's,3's,4's, and 5's in dynamic queue and still have a solo queue.

They will end up still pulling people from solo queue to fill in their dynamic queue games which will likely create huge backlash because I doubt those players would have some sort of additional reward for winning or some sort of cushion for losing since they didn't want to be their in the first place.

Regarding queue times only Riot has the data to be able to tell how long queue times would be if 3's and 2's were matched together and the system tried to determine a balanced game. I do not know how Dota 2 works. I dont know if you pick roles like we now do with league, but if Dota 2 doesn't have specific roles like league does that would be a large hill to overcome with queue times and such with their current system of role select->queue. If they reverted back and removed the role select this would be a completely different story.

Back to dynamic queues today. Yes queue times have gone up a ton because of the sheer imbalance in role select. I do not have a solution for Riot. I mean yeah when supports were basically mid mages in the bot lane then people didn't mind playing support because they could still annie or brand and melt faces. Plus they had the faster queue time! Some people still do that. Especially in the lower ranks, but meh.

Anyway. I do not know who sits at the head of the table at Riot who says yes or no to these features, but it is very clear to me that year after year Riot has failed at a lot of things and it is very clear that whatever workflows they have for process, balance, or test review are completely flawed. I read somewhere that the test server is only there for bugs and it is not used as a way to check balance. If that is the true case it explains a lot.

If Riots way of determining balance is from the 7-8 guys who made that dev post about being testers than it also explains all the backlash Riot gets because their tests do not reflect the 80% of their player base.

6KEMBE4ORBA2 votes

I agree...

Regarding DOTA2, you're able to check how exactly the matchmaker/champ select works by yourself in the net/game wiki. The 3 points I presented are more than enough though.

I'm not gonna waste time making suggestions that ppl at RIot get paid specifically for and is part of their job.

I could argue that the old system solves the current problems cause they weren't as existent* in the first place. You could and you were getting 1-5th pick + the system was more prone to let the humans make the calls of who goes where/what role through human interaction. (you mentioned this)

Both of those contribute /were correlated to the more diversified role picking for the entire playerbase.

The new system is better at solving particular problems connected with the queue (which in the end may be the lesser ones) and raises another set - but it needs serious tweaking and thought process if Riot even decides to solve the issues of "support/fill" role.

I would go as far as to say that it will take a a major overhaul/rework.

OneSmoothDude3 votes

Woah woah woah, calm down man. Think rationally about this for a minute.

First, where did he say that groups are more valuable than individual players? Why jump at the guy and put words in his mouth because he...contributed to the discussion? He says what he thinks Riot's biggest upcoming matchmaking issue will be and you presume that he thinks you don't matter. Breathe.

Second, why such extreme negativity towards groups? I've literally never had any experience nearly as bad as what you're describing in the nearly 2 years I've been playing. Groups aren't toxic by nature; people have more fun when playing games with friends. That's kind of the whole idea behind this Dynamic Queue. But then again, if you're toxic towards one of the people in the group, it shouldn't be a surprise they'll have each others' backs and reply in kind. Next time you're paired with a group don't communicate negatively and the game will go fine almost every time.

And if groups are super toxic towards you, there's really no difference made from them being in a group versus all solo. Actually, it's better to be flamed by a 4-man than 4 randoms, because as Riot stated when they announced the Dynamic Queue, the reports of the group will be weighted just as heavily as the non-grouped members. So if 4 people report you but you report all of them, then each person in the team will effectively have one report.

That's after the game is over, though. When you're in-game...just mute 'em. Like any other toxic player you get on your team, it's really no different. Sure, a 4-man can ruin a game more effectively than 4 randoms. But let's be honest, if any 1 person wants to ruin a game for his team, it's not that hard. So, again, not that much of a difference with it coming from a group.

Why, specifically, did your friends quit? Did they quit League as a whole, or just playing ranked, or just ranked until the true solo queue is released?

You don't have to get worked up into a fervor and go to the furthest extremes you can think of and rely on hyperbole to convince people you're right. Ease up on it, Trumpy.

WadeWilson13373 votes

Pretty much every person who has attempted to play Dynamic Que solo has told me of an experience where they got a toxic premade, whether it be on their team trolling them or the enemy team talking alot of shit because they are destroying the other premade and the poor guy i know. Im not toxic to people in groups, but they absolutely ignore you to the point that if you group and it goes bad you get blamed or if you say fuck it im not grouping anymore, splitpush, they blame you because you werent grouped and they died 4v5. My friends quit because we all have differing schedules so we dont get to que much with each other, and when we did we could have just grouped in normals and not had the stress of the ranked environment along with the fact we got sooooo many people who did troll picks when we did so. And then when they solo que they deal with the extreme levels of toxicity i have described, so now the game no longer provides them any reason to play as Riot has no intention of doing Solo Que unless absolutely forced. You know, i kinda liked you when i was reading your post, and then when i saw the "Trumpy" comment, i knew you were a deuche.

Oh yeah i'm so negative i refused to switch my PRIMARY ROLE MID position with one of the 4 man premades so they unleashed hell on me calling names, insulting etc. I was mkay i go jungle. I pick jungle, guess what happened next? They picked jungle too... oh yeah so much fun. This was one of three times i had to deal with 4 premades as the solo guy. Then i had a game my team was stomping the enemy team and somehow we just couldn't finish the game until 50 minutes or something, all were fullbuild and they turned around and won and i was "wtf how is that even possible"... so i looked up op.gg and saw we were 5 solos vs 5 man premade team... such fun. Their individual skill was non-existant but superior communication made it possible to outplay us and stall the game to the point where they could come back. Today i was a solo guy in mid. Didn'T know i was solo i was just surprised about the massive camp at mid, top constantly ganking, jungler+ supp ganking me the whole game. Oh yeah we were 4+1 vs 4+1 i got the worse 4 man premade team. Yesterday we were 5 solo guys vs top, mid, jungle premade and a premade botlane 5 vs 3+2. How is that even fair? Why do i lose a game i would usually carry on my own just because riot thinks its a great idea to make a second normal queue.... Usually i lose 15-16 lp and 21-24. In the game with the 4 premades i lost 21 lp because i lost against a silver 2 and silver 5 and three gold 5. according to op.gg their mmr was 100 points below others (the team mmr) but their superior communication could easily carry them which means ranks aren't meaning anything right now.
And even if it only happens 20 out of 200 games its enough for me. I want to play solo if i want to play with friends i can go normal or open up a 5man ranked team but the current system is NOT working.

The answer to your question is in low level matchmaking. Which in short, is yes, someone playing with their friend(s) does mean more than a solo queue player. From a business standpoint it is simply more profitable to encourage people to "bring their friends" or "play with their friends" more people = more profit.

When a high level ranked player duo queues with their low level friend, they are matched against other low levels. So the majority of the time low level games have a level 30 or even two level 30s with thousands of games played, full tier 3 runes and a mastery page vs. a rag tag team of level 13's. This has been the state of low level games for years and you have to ask yourself in what world does this seem fair? You'd think that a low level person duoing with their level 30 friend would be matched against other level 30's, because after all it is their choice to duo. But instead they just keep the highly exploitable matchmaking in place and allow these people to farm IP at the expense of new players who are solo queuing.

The only explanation for this is that people who are bringing 1 or more people to the game with them are more important than someone playing alone. Having an awful time being on the receiving end of a level 30's ass whooping is the price you pay for not bringing along another potential costumer.

TL;DR - Riot makes gameplay decisions to maximize profit, not fun.

Could not agree with this more. This is the only time I have taken the time to comment on the web page and its primarily due to an out of control frustration from these premade team mates. I almost never que up to play ranked and I don't believe you should be able to. This may be a team game but putting lower ELO players in with everyone else just because they bring a friend doesn't make sense. I look at the stats at the end of my games and they are incredibly one sided in favor of myself (most of the time) but the rest of the team turns out to be too heavy and doesn't listen to any pings of any kind. I am stuck since the season reset (where I won 7 or 8 out of the 10 and still got placed in a lower rank than the previous season -_-) due to these trolls.

OneSmoothDude2 votes

What does them being in a group have to do with anything? In any given game, the jungler might not gank for you, whether or not he's part of a premade. That's not an excuse to be toxic.

And furthermore, it makes sense that a jungler would gank for his lanes, due to the increased communication and synergy they would have from playing together in the past and/or voice communication.

Don't blame a premade for your toxic behavior.

The absolute worst is being the solo player on a team of 4 premades. This happened to me just yesterday and they threatened to feed on purpose, all 4 of them. My response was "That's just a dick move and you gain nothing from it"

To which they replied "Nah it's fun". Needless to say I dodged the fuck outta that one. Problem is I got punished for avoiding 4 c*nts who were dead set on both bullying me and ruining my time (Q time penalty and LP deduction).

People talking shit doesn't bother me because it's just hot air, but it's the mob mentality and the power premades have over the solo players both in their team, and over the enemy team. The potential to bully the solo player and do shit like 4 man feed or 4 man report the solo guy for absolutely nothing. I know 4 reports on the same dude only = a single report and false ones mean nothing, but I hope that gets the point across.

All my friends quit playing over last season; the juggernauts patch and season 6 preseason being the final nail in the coffin, so dynamic queue just puts me at a disadvantage anyway. Regardless of whether or not I get benefit from it, it's incredibly frustrating as well. I'm tired of having 10-40 minute queue timers just to get my secondary role every time. Dodges are also at an all time high, and honestly, I've been dodging a lot as well because of how frustrating the new champion select is. Being the odd man out matched with premades is annoying, and it seems I hardly even get matched with groups anyway because the enemy team is always a well built comp while the way new queue works kind of nudges everyone solo to play selfishly and a team of randoms usually ends up with 5 squishy carries and no real comp. Pick intent is hardly even used anymore, and about 40% of the time, someone bans out their teammates, which I admit to doing as well. It's also annoying when your last pick wants graves and gets mad when someone bans him. Noone trades champions anymore anyway.

Another thing is noone swaps roles either. They think their role is cemented. Used to be if I didn't feel it because of some picks I would decide to take another role, but can't do that anymore. I'm tired of all the midlaners picking support secondary so they can play full carry Lux or Brand, or Xerath too.

I really hope this feedback reaches Riot and they stop with the delay on solo-Q. I do not like Lyte's system, and spending more time on it is not going to change that opinion.

Some of us prefer NOT to play against another premade and rather go into SOLO queue like we have been since we started this game. There was ranked teams for a reason, because people who wanted to be in an entire team could be and those who didn't want a group could play their own game.

As I said in an older post. Teams and Solo are two entirely different game styles. They shouldn't be mixed. Some people like one style and some like the other.

The thing is Riot doesnt know how to bring back a true soloQ while still having dynamic queue. They need solo players to fill the gaps in the dynamic group queue games.

Teambuilder for solo que

Dynamicque for premades

It's as simple as that. Riot's just lazy. As they said for dominion "we don't have the resources to maintain dominion" multi million $ company claiming not to have enough "resources" yea ok
