Are some champions removed from TFT?

I haven't played TFT in a while and saw it got preseason worth of changes. I asked my friend what some of the changes were and he said that some champions like Blitz and Vi got removed from the game. I've played a few games of TFT and can't find them. Is this true that they got removed? If so what other champions got removed?

Other than absolute basics, the entire game got an overhaul for the new set. Most of the old synergies and champions are gone.
