Maden, the Scrap Warrior - [Champion Concept]
Maden the Scrap Warrior
Maden is a versatile melee champion that can be played differently each time. Special to this champion is that Maden does not start with his initial abilities, with only his Passive and Ultimate available to sustain himself early in the game, given he does not require any resource to sustain himself allowing him to stay in lanes much longer. Maden's Abilities can be purchased at the shop, allowing players to mix-and-match multiple abilities to suite the game. Ultimately, Maden evolves as he gathers more scraps to empower himself, getting stronger and unique as time grows.
Take note that purchasing these Abilities are permanent throughout the game so pick wisely and get creative.
Note: Maden starts out with 200 Scraps at the start of each fight. Each Ability costs 100 Scraps and upgrading said ability costs 150 Scraps, each Ability can be upgraded once. Purchasing an ability takes up his Q, W, and E in order and are permanent, once all Abilities Slots are used, all other options to buy other Abilities disappears, only allowing upgrades. Additionally, Maden already starts with his Ultimate at level 1.
Passive - Scavenge Killing an enemy unit or a neutral monster grants 3 Scraps. Killing or getting an assist from enemy champions and large monsters each grants 8 scraps. Leveling up also grants 25 Scraps. Additionally, Maden gains +0.25 / +0.5 / +0.75 / +1 Health per 5 seconds per Scrap he currently has. Scales on levels 1, 6, 11, 16 respectively.
Ultimate - Scrap Cycle - Cooldown: 60 seconds Maden instantly regains Health equal to (15 x Level) + (1.5 x Scraps) and a +25% Movement Speed for 2 seconds that decays rapidly, this does not consume his scraps but disables Scavenge for 5 seconds.
ABILITIES
Greed - Cooldown: 18 / 17 / 16 / 15 / 14 / 13 seconds / Radius: 300 Maden quickly mugs his surrounding enemies, reducing their Armor and Magic Resistance by 2% + 10 / 15 / 20 / 25 / 30 / 35 and gaining 1 Scrap for each enemy struck.
Magnetized Greed - Radius: 350 Upgraded Greed. Maden now slightly slows all enemies affected by 20% for 1.5 seconds, decaying rapidly. Additionally, Enemy Champions hit by Magnetized Greed grant 2 Scraps instead.
Scrap Strike - Cooldown: 6 seconds in all levels Maden empowers his next Basic Attack, dealing 50 / 70 / 90 / 110 / 130 / 150 + (40% Attack Damage) bonus physical damage. Enemy units killed with Scrap Strike grants twice the Scraps.
Scrap Sword Upgraded Scrap Strike. Maden will now cleave for his next Basic Attack. If used while Junk Launcher is on, it will instead deal damage in a 125 radius around the target.
Junk Launcher - Toggle Maden makes a makeshift launcher, allowing him to launch scraps from afar. If activated, Maden's Basic Attacks gains 400 range and consumes 2 Scraps each. Automatically deactivates if Maden does not have any scraps on him.
Fixed Archer Upgraded Junk Launcher. Basic Attacks now consumes 1 Scrap each and bonus from Scavenge gives +0.1 Attack Damage per 2 Scraps instead of Health Regeneration.
Trash Guard - Cooldown: 16 / 15 / 14 / 13 / 12 / 11seconds Maden consumes 20% of his current scraps and creates a shield with Health equal to 40 / 60 / 80 / 100 / 120 / 140 + (12 x Scraps consumed) for 3 seconds. While the shield is up, Maden receives 20% less damage from incoming sources.
Trash Aegis Upgraded Trash Guard. Maden now consumes 10% of his current scraps and the multiplier is increased to 14.
Experimental Bomb - Cooldown: 16 seconds in all levels / Cast Range: 475 / Radius: 300 / Secondary Radius: 400 Maden consumes 20% of his scraps to throw a makeshift grenade at a target area, dealing 80 / 100 / 120 / 140 / 160 / 180 + (70% Attack Damage) physical damage on initial explosion before scattering 7 scraps in a much wider area for 4 seconds. Maden may collect these scraps for himself, adding it to his collection or if an enemy champion walks through these scraps, they receive 30 / 50 / 70 / 90 / 110 / 130 + (30% Attack Damage) physical damage. Damage is reduced by 40% if stepped on by the same champion.
Experimental Mine Upgraded Scrap Bomb. If the grenade does not make in contact with any enemy unit, it burrows itself in the ground instead. Up to 3 Scrap Mines may be placed at a time. Placing more Scrap Mines will detonate the oldest one but will not yield or make any scraps.
Crash - Cooldown: 8 seconds / Range: 225 Maden surrounds himself in scrap before charging in a short distance, dealing 60 / 80 / 100 / 120 / 140 / 160 + (10% Attack Damage) and stunning the first enemy hit by 1.2 / 1.4 / 1.6 / 1.8 / 2 / 2.2 seconds. Consumes 10% of his current Scrap per use.
Titan Crash - Range: 300 Upgraded Crash. Scraps consumed is refunded if it hits an enemy unit. Hitting an enemy champion also grants Maden additional 2% of the scraps consumed.
Gameplay
Being a versatile champion, Maden has many build paths to choose from, some which are designed to empower him late game and to fit multiple roles if necessary. Picking the first ability must be decided either early or later in the game, allowing you to see and study your opponent before deciding the best ability to utilize. Overall, Maden's role will be ultimately decided once he has received at least 2 of his abilities, and finally locking it down with his third ability.
Without any abilities, Maden can sustain himself alone with Scavenger and Scrap Cycle, providing him the much needed sustain in a lane to safely farm his scraps. Generally for new players - getting at least Greed or Scrap Strike will generate a steady income of scraps for later usage. Experimental Bomb is also ideal as it always guarantee to generate 7 scraps for each usage, excluding scraps gained from killed units on the point of impact but otherwise is also costly for each use.
Greed allows you to safely farm and also provides a nice utility skills in case you or your enemy wants to start a fight. Alternatively, Scrap Strike provides a much more offensive power and doubles the scrap rewarded per kill.
Following some build paths, Maden can be played as the following but not limited to:
Melee Fighter - Scrap Strike and Crash. Either Greed or Experimental Bomb. This Ability Build plays Maden as an all-out offensive champion, empowered in melee range, Maden can close the gap with Crash before assaulting the enemy champion with multiple Scrap Strikes. Using Greed will greatly soften up your enemy while Experimental Bomb will add more damage as well as blocking out your enemy's route to escape. This generally leaves Maden vulnerable to ranged fighters but otherwise proves to be lethal in a fight.
An upgraded build proves much deadlier as it allows Maden to repeatedly cleave his enemies with Scrap Sword and a much better gap-closer with Titan Crash. Magnetized Greed gains much utility as it now slows targets around you while preemptively setting up Experimental Mines will damage your enemy even before the fight starts.
Ranged Fighter - Junk Launcher and Experimental Bomb. Either Trash Guard, Greed or Scrap Sword. This Ability Build revolves on Junk Launcher, allowing Maden to be played as a ranged champion, although safe, this ability heavily eats away from your scraps so choosing your third ability should either be adding more 'ammo' or protection depending which is necessary. With Junk Launcher and Experimental Bomb, you can quickly dispatch foes from afar, combined with Scrap Sword to add to that area of effect damage. Trash Guard provides an alternative for barrier just in case enemy champions comes up to you quickly or utilizing Greed to quickly generate more scraps for your basic attacks.
An upgraded build makes this path much deadlier, with Experimental Mines lurking around you and the increased Attack Damage from Fixed Launcher and Scavenge. Combined with Greed to also generate ammo but also slows incoming enemy targets as they come. Trash Aegis provides more shield in order to provide extra defense in a fight.
Tank Bruiser - Greed and Trash Guard. Either Crash or Experimental Bomb. This Ability Build revolves not only from Greed and Trash Guard, as well as Scavenge and Scrap Cycle to sustain in a teamfight. Taking up as the tank of the team requires Maden to gather tons of Scraps through Greed in order to tank well with Trash Guard. Combined with Scavenge and Scrap Cycle provides plenty of ways to quickly regenerate lost health.
An upgraded build makes it much easier to provide control in the battlefield, with Magnetized Greed's slow and Trash Aegis's increased barrier allowing you to tank more damage. A single Titan Crash can potentially lock down an enemy champion with an Experimental Mine prevents entry to your key allies in a teamfight.
