Regnum the Curator of Light - Tank / Mage

Abilities

Iron Giant - Passive

Regnum stores Light Energy at a rate of 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 / 8 every 5 seconds, up to a maximum of 100.Whenever Regnum uses Vanishing Light or Valiant Shield, he uses all of his current Light Energy as bonus damage, dealing (0.8 / 1 / 1.2 / 1.4 / 1.6 x Light Energy) true damage. If Regnum is inside a Brush, his Light Energy will start to decay at a rate of 2 per second. Scales on level 1, 6, 11, 16 and 18 respectively.

Regnum's Movement Speed cannot drop below 70% of the original value when affected by Slow, Charmed, Fear, Flee or Polymorphed.

Vanishing Light - Cast Range: 700 | Radius: 250 - 350 | Cooldown: 16 / 15 / 14 / 13 / 11 seconds

Regnum charges for up to 2 seconds as he scribes runes of light on the targeted ground which then detonates upon end of channeling, dealing 80 / 110 / 140 / 170 / 200 + (20% of Ability Power) magic damage. Radius increases as Regnum charges longer.

If Regnum expends at least 50 Light Energy, Vanishing Light will also blind all enemy targets struck for 2 seconds.

Solar Panel - Cast Range: 600 | Radius: 300| Cooldown: 24 / 22 / 20 / 18 / 16 seconds

Regnum deploys a Solar Panel, gathering Light Energy at a rate of 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 per second up to a maximum of 50. Regnum may then collect this Solar Panel, gaining the stored Light Energy and refreshing the cooldown of this ability.

Solar Panel has 3 Health, taking 2 damage from damaging abilities and 1 damage from basic attacks. If destroyed, the Solar Panel will discharge all Light Energy around it, dealing 60 / 80 / 100 / 120 / 140 + (30% of Ability Power) magic damage and all the stored Light Energy as true damage.

May only have up to 2 Solar Panels active at a time.

Valiant Shield - Self Cast | Damage Radius: 400 | Cooldown: 18 / 17 / 16 / 15 / 14 seconds

Regnum shields himself from incoming harm while discharging a powerful wave of light around him, granting a 90 / 120 / 150 / 180 / 210 + (40% of Ability Power) barrier for 6 seconds and dealing the same amount as damage around him .

If Regnum expends at least 50 Light Energy, Valiant Shield will send a second wave of light at the end of the duration, dealing the remaining health of the barrier as damage. If the barrier is destroyed before the end of the duration, it will not send a second wave.

My Kingdom of Light! - Self Cast | Radius: 600 | Cooldown: 160 / 150 / 140 seconds

Regnum becomes an immobile fortress for 6 / 7 / 8 seconds, gaining 25% bonus damage reduction and converting 10% of his current Armor and Magic Resistance as Bonus Health. In addition, Regnum becomes immune to crowd control effects and will absorb all enemy basic attacks targeting his allies and skillshots directed towards him. Allied Champions can freely move in and out while Enemy Champions cannot pass through him.

While active, Regnum gains 10 / 15 / 20 Light Energy per second and his Vanishing Light and Valiant Shield is enhanced.

  • Vanishing Light - Reduces cooldown to 2 seconds. Removes channeling time and increases Cast Range by 100 / 150 / 200. Will now slow the target instead of Blind.

  • Valiant Shield - Barrier Health is increased by 60% and now grants all allies within him the same amount of Shield and lasts for the duration of My Kingdom of Light!. Barriers granted to allied champions persists for 2 seconds when outside of Regnum but is restored at -50% Barrier Health upon entering again.

This is a really unique champion idea, great work coming up with it all.

The only criticism I can really offer is in relation to his immunity to slows but with a constant 20% reduced movement speed.

With the game as it is currently, I just don't think passively having less movespeed at all stages of the game, even if the champ is immune to slows, is all that healthy for the champ.

It will take them so much longer to return to lane during the early game that theyd miss out on tons of xp and gold, and may even end up giving up extremely early towers simply because they had to back to buy or heal. Further, during the mid-late game, it would take them so long to get to important combat zones around objectives that their team would be at a serious disadvantage.

Perhaps a healthier option would be a passive in which whenever he is hit by a slow his movespeed cannot drop below a certain amount or something to that effect. That way his ability to move about the map isn't constantly hindered and the champion wouldn't end up being so reliant on building movespeed items and summoner 12 .

Ok, let's take a look here.

Passive: Kind of interesting, I assume he's resourceless but uses "light" for his abilities. The small amount of true damage that it does is okay, but his abilities all have really long cooldowns, so I don't imagine he's getting that much use of it. As for maintaining his speed, it's actually bad for a tank if he moves faster when in things like "charm".

Q: Its a super slow charged AOE move with a long cooldown, meh damage, and terrible scaling. Ah I see, it has a blind... well blind is kind of a situational CC; I'm just not sure this is super useful.

W: Having this out increases the rate of charging your light, but enemies are punished for blowing it up, which means they wont want to. This is a spell slot devoted to extra "mana regen", I just don't think this is very interesting.

E: This is sort of a variant of Sion's shield that pops twice, once at the start and once at the end.

R: Holy hell this thing is crazy strong, damage reduction AND bonus hp AAAAAND immune to CC? That alone would be significantly crazy strong, even overpowered, but reducing his cooldowns AND upping his light gen? This spells is massively OP; first immune to CC is a no go - you're the tank, you want to take the CC. Second between damage redux or bonus HP you need to pick ONE - probably the former since you already have a shield ability. Finally the massive CDR to his abilities is also super unnecessary in fact if all the ult did was give him DR and change his two skills, that'd probably be enough.

Overall Thoughts I don't really get what this guy is suppposed to do - it seems like your intention is to make him into some kind of true damage caster, but the true damage he generates is kinda... sticky; it's either too low and too slow to be worth a damn, or it's super crazy fast. He's not really rewarded for building tanky outside of in his ult and his only CC options are a channeled AOE blind or a channeled AOE slow.

TBH I'm not super sold on his light mechanic. That true damage would be really hard to tune.

I like this champ a lot actually. It might just be because Malphite is my favorite champ and I'd love to see this guy be his friend but Honestly I like it. I wish I could give some tips.[slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

Thank you again, while yes - the E bonus effect seems counter-effective, the initial effect deals damage and creates a barrier for you (think Karma's old Barrier thingy) and it does the job by taking the heat from your allies as enemies will be more likely to focus you as to prevent the second wave of damage coming.

Holy shit that passive is like one of the best ideas ever. Also for dat Q. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJh47LybCkU

So, made some changes, moved the health conversion to his ultimate which grants him additional health upon casting My Kingdom of Light! and listed some specific debuffs that becomes a little less effective against Regnum.

Good idea, but:

  • No need for a triple passive for Iron Giant, as we don't need another Yasuo.

  • I don't think true damage is generally a good idea. VERY easy to accidentally become OP.

  • That 20% constant slow might be too crippling with no gapclosers. Combined with the rest of the kit, it creates a champ where you are useless unless you catch someone, in which case they are screwed. This result may not be a bad thing, but it might not be a good choice either.

Overall I love the idea of a tanky siege champ though!

no close gap? kitable?

good luck to chase teemo....

Generally, Regnum's Passive details how his resource is gathered and used, the 2nd part would be that movement speed protection against certain debuffs. One thing I would liek to point out is that Regnum is not supposed to chase anyone, he's meant to become a "Temporary" relief spot for his allies and to protect them. Gapclosers are not needed for Regnum since he can poke away with his Q.

Do I need Ra, Slifer, and Obelisk to summon him?

This is a very good concept.

Good job but I think him doing 150 true damage at level 1 on top of his Q and E might be slightly overpower... Good job aside from that!!![slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

Dis The Chris11/28/2015, 4:16:57 PM1 votes

Wow, did not see that and thanks for pointing it out! Will get to it ASAP!

Stiv123411/28/2015, 5:51:38 PM1 votes

The E bonus effect is a little bit weird. I mean, you normally use a shield in order to have it be destroyed instead of taking damage. It seems that you would rarely get the second wave off. Maybe add another effect on top if the shield gets destroyed. Also, his AP scaling are pretty damn low.

Other than that, the concept is great. Good Job!

I like it, he really brings to mind the Alexander Esper.
