Kind of against the ToS.

C. Unsolicited Idea Submissions. Riot Games values your feedback on its services and products, but please do not submit any creative ideas, suggestions or materials.

That said, it's still fine to post here, BUT

That's the reason you haven't once seen a champion created based on the good ideas from here.

Don't try to pretend Kindred is Dhama, the only similarity is the color (And they don't even really match colors)

T;DR: Read the whole post before commenting things I already said. It's not that long.

Seeing as how Riot made these boards, and put the Skins and Champion Concepts section in here, posts on this board would probably not qualify as unsolicited.

It's like everyone stopped reading after the one line.

I said that myself in the op.

I read the whole thing, i just took that statement more as sarcasm. Which apparently isn't what you had intended.

Either way, you still make it sound like that clause in the ToS is the reason why champs or skins brought up on here don't make it in. In reality, it's more because most of the ideas posted by the community blatantly suck. Or at the very least, would need very heavy modification from the proposal to fit into the game and be balanced.

Again, this is just you taking my words the wrong way. I apologize for the confusion.

I said the good ideas. I didn't say the bad ones.

There have been several, not many, ideas for champions with a lot of Red attention that never make it because they don't like to accept ideas. Other times it's simply because the employees at Riot who have time to browse the forums are people like the Esports manager or the guy who buys everyone coffee and designed raptor's attack animation, not anyone who actually has a say in champion design.

And if the Support team has taught me anything over the dozens of conversations I've had, no one in the company is allowed to talk to anyone that isn't part of their team.

There's a fairly extensive list of champions that came from player ideas. Lemme see if I can find them.

Edit: Here are a few.

Surprise Party Fiddlesticks Whiteout Ice Drake Shyvana Popstar Ahri Schoolgirl Academy Ahri Battle Bunny Riven Void Fizz Magical Girl Star Guardian Lux Every Pool Party Skin Ever

List of champions

You didn't list any champions, only skins. Like the ToS says, it's to avoid legal actions regarding fair use of the idea.

I actually think they need to be brought to court over the Acadamy skins and Star Guardian Lux, since those are very clearly not original and very nearly copy the "inspirations."

Why are you playing League of Legends and hating on Rito for taking inspiration from other things. God Forbid they find inspiration in anything. If they didn't find inspiration in anything everything would be bland and white. Oh wait I forgot, Bland and White isn't original.

Let's not forget League of Legends wouldn't exist at all if they didn't take inspiration from Defense of the Ancients, which itself took the assets of Warcraft 3 and the gameplay of Aeon of Strife, which directly copied assets from Starcraft, a sci-fi conversion of Warcraft, which was inspired by Dune 2, which was based on David Lynch's movie adaptation of a novel by Frank Herbert...

If you really want to play that game, we can. But I don't think you want to play that game.

As for champions, they haven't made a champion directly, but they have made champion ideas heavily favored by the community:

The 'female tank' was answered with Leona The 'support yordle' was answered with Lulu The 'black champion' push gave us Lucian Ekko The 'manly support' AKA Angus the Puncher became Braum

As for why they don't take ideas directly, it's likely because they got a lot of shit several years ago (and in fact still do on rare occasions) from DotA diehards who claim Teemo was 'stolen' by Riot Pendragon from their old suggestion forums (which Pendragon managed and thus had full rights to anyway) based on a vaguely similar concept that had been posted there. Riot knows full well what sort of heat they'll get for actually adopting an idea wholesale because even coming near that line got them hate for years.

You know, your argument lost steam after the first reference to Dota. The rest of those games are owned by the same company.

If you're going to try and say that Sailor Moon/Madoka's exact outfits are referred to in much older stories or text, please do say something.

If you want to go ahead and try to play the "hurdur a vague concept or similar game existed so the fact they're stealing art is okay," go to someone dumb enough to compare the two.

Yes, both Goku and Wukong reference the Monkey King. That is perfectly fine, seeing as no major company has any rights to that very very old story. It's outright illegal, though, if they put Wukong in an Orange and Blue outfit with the symbol for Turtle on the chest. Look at Smite.

And a concept isn't just GENDER/RACE+ROLE.

Why did you make some loose arguments, only to agree with my original point at the end?

All I'm saying is that Riot isn't the nice kind of company that'll actually look at community ideas that are really good, and they even say so. But just as well, Being the employee who manages a forum for a company does not give you the rights to ideas on it if you leave the company.

Pretty sure that means when messaging via e-mail. And they still use little ideas from the boards here, such as Ekko who was partially taken from a champion idea awhile back, and Kindred who, though being thought of before DhaMa, may have taken some inspiration.

You see, it's a loophole because we're not suggesting it towards riot directly. The aim of this board is just creative creation among the users, for the users. Incidentally, should Riot come along and see it (and like the idea), they'll just take it and make minor changes so the idea becomes original oc donut steel.
