No chest for S- if a lobby member is punished

As you know, if you're chat restricted or banned, you can't participate in the Hextech crafting. Unfortunately, there's a bug where your punishment extends to allies even if they're the one who got an S.

Situation: Eligible player created a lobby with a player who was punished (not eligible for chests). BOTH Players receive S- scores.

Expected outcome: Eligible player receives a chest for his OWN S-, but ineligible player does not.

Bug: Eligible player's S- is negated due to the ally in the lobby. No chest is rewarded, BUT the champion played still receives the can't-get-a-chest-again-with-this-champ border.

I can't/won't test this again to see if it always happens. Not only would it be difficult for the both of us to get S's again, but if it works I'd be down another champion to use without the reward. The risk is too high.

On a side note, I was so stoked to get Gentleman Cho'Gath as loot from a solo game, then the next three loots I got were Champions. TT-TT

Just happened to me. I wasnt even in their 4 man party, I was the only one who got an S...no chest..

If I remember correctly chests don't have a 100% chance to be dropped though, it's high but not 100%, it happened to me that I got an S on a champ and didn't get a chest, but then that champ got me a chest after another game, happened to some friends of mine too while we were in premade: I got a chest for an S while they didn't, then I had all 4 chest and the next game I took an s and they got the chest from my s.

Maybe, it's not a bug? There's been a lot of studies that say being ostracized is worse than jail. Good way to halt toxic attitudes. Your friends won't want to queue with you.

Riot doesn't read psychological, economic, or video game studies, I can assure you.

I got my own S, regardless of the S my friend got. Anivia is locked as a chest option now, despite the fact I received no chest. If it's intentional, then the intent is the bug.

If you haven't yet, just in case, try sending a ticket. I'm sure they'll notice it and fix the situation, not to mention make it another way they might notice the bug's existence.

I'm sorry you lost your chest, specially since it locked you out of it for that champ.

Quick question about the borders...

The person (who was punished) that you queued with... Did he still get the gold border around the champion that he got an S with?

So for example... let's say he played Ekko and got an S. Does he get that gold border or does he get nothing?

I know that people who were chat restricted or banned can't get any loot, but I was just curious if they still get a border around the champ that they get an S with.

What do the boarders look like? I got a 10 game chat restriction about a month ago so I can't rewards. Since then I've gotten maybe 3-4 S' on Lux and a couple on MF. I don't know what these boarders look like to verify. But considering I don't. I probably didn't get one.

No, people who have been chat restricted in the past or punished in any way do not get any borders at all, nor do they get the highest attained rank this season score on each champion.

I very much doubt this is true. A company of rito's mass definitely studies all of the above, especially considering how critical those three areas of study are to their particular game. They probably have a full time employee dedicated to each, minimum.

A company of rito's mass oddly doesn't have a support team big enough to do anything besides sending automatic messages. They also have no team dedicated strictly to the Boards to evaluate feedback, or a team dedicated to player punishment (also automated).

A lot of things they should have, they don't. Including people to study the areas mentioned above.

That was before. Around mid-late s4. After that they decided to actually care about the problem's of the players and get some support team. Now, every ticket that is sent is actually seen by a person and taken care of with human help. Some stuff may be auto generated but the most part, you actually get a person that sees your problem and helps you.

That's only true if your ticket is regarding money-- the one thing Riot actually cares about.

Anything else requires at least three responses to their automated messages before someone will show up to tell you to go to the boards, despite the fact the moderators have said time and again that these boards are for player-to-player communication, not player-to-Riot.

The only studies they could ever finish is PR manipulation. Look at the leader of Riot's Play Behavior teams, Mr. Jeffrey "Lyte" Lin.

He only ever did two things right - Teambuilder, which he then proceeded to delete "because of a survey" and Tribunal, which he proceeded to delete, because of... what was his official excuse again... Ah, "it was too slow".

You don't need a PhD to be so bad at your job. A job that ironically you spent years preparing for.

Hey, this account is currently RIP because of Lyte's degree stating that a played can't have a bad game.

Also, buying RP doesn't make you immune to anything at all, bugs or bans. But Riot is horrible at reforming players if they aren't going to give ample opportunity, and locking them out of chests for far longer than the duration of the punishment is rather stupid, especially because they won't tell you how the evaluation works for deciding when you can receive chests again.

Thinking about it, it shouldn't really matter. I can't imagine Riot intentionally going so far as to make previously punished players pariahs to all their friends by restricting rewards for queuing with them.

I queued up with my brother. You don't get chests for S's that randoms get, only premade.

Pretty much. Solo players don't matter; Riot 2016. They did a survey though they asked 100 4 man premades.

they're owned by TENCENT. Riot can do very little apart from what that company tells them to. So really, riot isn't the problem, TENCENT is. They're the money thirsty f*cks, not riot, riot made the game, TENCENT wants the profits

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if this was intentional. This campaign to end toxic behavior has turned into a witch hunt, and not a particularly effective one at that.

They really just need to accept that toxic chat is the norm for competitive online games. It's actual toxic behavior that hurts games. Good players can talk crap however they please, but it's the Disco Nunus that need to be banned.

Nope. Players need to stop being disrespectful. The community doesn't accept it and we shouldn't let down our guard on responding to those who violate this important aspect of the game.

The "community" plays the game regardless of such behavior. Anyone who plays online games knows this behavior exists and makes ample use of the Mute button in any other game.

"Toxic" communities are the norm for these games. Be glad the other norm of pay-to-win isn't also present here.

If you can't/won't test this again, how do you know it was caused by a punished person being in your queue?

Maybe you randomly missed your chest this game, and you just happened to be queued with a punished player? Could be possible, especially if you play with them a lot.

Like, you didn't say what champion you were playing, or if you were queued for ranked or normals, but the bug could have something to do with those instead.

Several people have commented on having the same issue. I went into this game having picked Anivia specifically because I don't play her a lot, so getting her chest early was my plan.

Honestly I don't know if this was what caused the issue. It might've been because it was my first S after playing a bunch of three's. But I've gotten a chest since, on a different champion. It was normals.
