[Champion Concept:] Vincent (the Shadow): The Dread Corsair
DISCLAIMER: I'm trying a different setup to my champ concepts for clarity and engagement. Feel free to comment on the setup of this thread as well as Vincent himself.
Welcome to the League of Legends Champion Concept Spotlight, featuring Vincent: The Dread Corsair.
Abstract The former self-proclaimed king of the pirates, Vincent the Shadow ruled over the seas of Bilgewater for decades until he met his untimely end by his son, Gangplank. However, his spirit did not find rest, as his soul thirsted for more blood and gold. Now reborn as a lich with the origin of his rebirth and his tide powers unknown, Vincent leads the Harrowing Invasion of Bilgewater on the Summoner's Rift as a anti-assassin pusher and AP caster.

Abilities:
Passive: Mark of the Shadow
Enemies hit with Vincent's basic attacks and damaging abilities will shadow mark his targets for 3 seconds. Enemies that are shadow marked will have additional effects placed upon them when Vincent hits them with his abilities, and will take an additional 6% of his maximum mana as bonus ability power scaling. Hitting an enemy with the ability will not consume the mark, and will refresh the duration.
Vincent deals an additional 20% of his ability power (+1.2% of maximum mana) bonus magic damage on his basic attacks towards marked targets.
Q: Specter's Howl Range: 1100 Mana Cost: 60 / 75 / 90 / 105 / 120 Cooldown: 11 / 10 / 9 / 8 / 7
*Active: *After channeling for 0.35 seconds, Vincent lets out a ghastly howl that deals 45 / 90 / 135 / 180 / 225 (+ 50% AP) magic damage. Once it comes in contact with a target, it will explode, dealing damage and preventing enemies' movement speed from going past 325 (-1 per 10 AP) for 1.5 / 1.75 / 2 / 2.25 / 2.5 seconds. If the enemies are shadow-marked, they will be feared, and take an additional 3% of Vincent's maximum mana as bonus magic damage.
W: Eerie Fog Range 0 Mana Cost: 80 / 85 / 90 / 95 / 100 Cooldown: 20
*Passive: * Vincent gains 6 / 7 / 8 / 9 / 10% spell vamp towards marked targets.
*Active: *Vincent condenses moisture in the air to produce a 400 radius fog that stealths himself and gives him a 6 / 7 / 8 / 9 / 10% (+1% per 100 AP) movement speed buff while inside the fog. It slowly rolls forward in the direction the cursor over 8 seconds. Enemies can walk inside of the fog to reveal Vincent, but they will have their vision reduced to 575 and all map vision gone besides their teammates' vision and true sight. This ability does not apply Vincent's passive, but if an enemy is already shadow-marked, they will take 50 / 75 / 100 / 125 / 150 (+6% Maximum Mana) magic damage, and take 20% of that and an additional 1.2% of Vincent's maximum mana each second they are inside the fog, and the mark will be refreshed.
E: Marauder's Monsoon Range: 700 Mana Cost: 70 / 90 / 110 / 130 / 150 Cooldown: 15 / 14 / 13 / 12 / 11
Active: After a 0.5 second delay, Vincent whips up a massive hurricane in a 400 radius area that deals 10 / 20 / 30 / 40 / 50 (+15% AP) magic damage every 0.5 seconds for 2.5 seconds, and cripples all enemies inside, preventing them from using dash-based abilities. If a shadowmarked enemy walks into the area, the storm will follow them outside the area for an additional 2.5 seconds, and they will take an additional 1% of Vincent's maximum mana as bonus magic damage per 0.5 seconds.
R: The Flying Dutchman Range: 3340 Mana Cost: 100 Mana Cooldown: 125 / 100 / 75
Active: After channeling for 0.75 seconds, Vincent disappears from the map, and reveals his true form, becoming untargetable and letting out an extremely loud and gusty screech that slowly rolls over the area and deals 400 / 600 / 800 (+100% AP) magic damage to each enemy he hits, and knocks them airborne and aside until they reach the outside of the ability's effect. After Vincent passes through the area, he will reappear on the map in the same spot he casted the ability. Any enemies that are shadow-marked will take the additional 6% of Vincent's maximum mana as true damage.
Strengths, Synergy, and Weaknesses
Strengths:
Vincent is one of the best pushers in the game. His abilities do very high area of effect damage and that damage is raised exponentially against targets he marks. In addition, he specifically counters dash heavy champions, and can easily harass and siege champions under their towers and his.
Excels against:
Fizz
Vincent is Fizz's hard counter. Fizz lacks the pushing power early game to counteract Vincent's monsoons, and his monsoon will essentially silence Fizz, doing massive amounts of damage, locking him down, and preventing him from getting near Vincent, and allowing Vincent to chain his abilities together with little effort.
Katarina
Katarina will be unable to successfully mitigate Vincent's pushing power, removing any options for her to clear the gap and successfully cast her ultimate. Even if she manages to find an opening, it will leave her vulnerable to Vincent's abilities.
Works well with:
Gnar
Gnar's slows and displacement abilities will allow Vincent to easily land his abilities in teamfights. If things prove too much for the scrappy little Yordle, Vincent offers enough synergy to disengage and possibly kill overextending enemy champions.
Thresh
Thresh's large amounts of crowd control and zoning abilities will allow him to easily reposition champions into Vincent's abilities. His lantern also allows a reliable escape to Vincent if he overextends or gets caught out.
Gangplank
As the very antitheses to Gangplank's playstyle, Gangplank will make up for all of Vincents weaknesses in teamfights. A well placed tank on a ranged crowd control ability followed by a remove scurvy will allow Vincent to keep the pressure up, and Gangplank's global pressure will supplement Vincent's natural pushing power.
Weaknesses:
While Vincent's abilities can push a lane with very little effort, they are the most expensive abilities in the game, easily draining his mana. On top of this, his abilities have a considerable cast time, allowing quick casts to avoid the area, shield his damage, and cancel his channels. Unlike his son Gangplank, his digestive tract is pretty much rotted, so he won't be able to eat oranges and be k, making him extremely vulnerable to all types of crowd control, especially silences and suppressions.
Struggles against:
Malzahar
Malzahar is Vincent's hard counter. Malzahar can outpush even Vincent, and can stay in lane longer because his abilities do not cost as much mana, and he has in kit mana retention. The final nail in the coffin is his crowd control, which can easily nullify all of Vincent's abilities, and suppressing him is basically an instant win.
Kassadin
Kassadin also has the edge in a fight against Vincent. In addition to his passive, his Q also produces a magic damage shield that can cancel out Vincent's channels. Also, while Vincent's monsoon can lock Kassadin out of his ultimate, it lasts far too long for it to do any good. Vincent will have an extremely hard time disengaging Kassadin.
Morgana
This is one hard angel to crack. Morgana has no dashes which significantly reduces the effectiveness of Vincent's Monsoon, and the Black Shield will prevent her from being disabled by it, and taking it's massive damage when shadow-marked. Her heavy amounts of crowd control and AOE damage will allow her to effectively siege Vincent under her tower, and she can easily lock down the undead pirate with her ultimate.
Lore:
Gotta admit Sarah, this a helluva weird spot for a meeting. I mean, the dock next to the Dead Pool at the crack of dawn? And with the fish dinner for two?
I beg your pardon?
Yeah who do ya think you are? I'll gut ya!
Easy Fizz. I want to be here with this outlaw as much as I want to be here with Gangplank, but there's a reason why I called all of you out here tonight.
Sorry I'm late, but I had a gut feeling that certain members of this jolly little deathtrap we call a city state may not approve of my company...
YOU'RE GODDAMN RIGHT! I'LL BLOW YER HEAD OFF! YOU'VE GOT SOME NERVE BRINGING THIS TWO TIMIN SUM' -
AH SHUT UP YOU TAVERN WENCHES BEFORE I SHUT YOU UP MESELF! I DIDN'T COME HERE FOR COUPLE'S COUNSELING!
Hmph. Regardless of his poorly choiced words, Gangplank has a point. Put aside your differences for one night. You can ignore what we have to say and kill each other tomorrow, but I think you're both going to be interested in what we have to say. It's about the Harrowing.
Harumph! Fine. What's so important?
What's so important? Malcom, I know you're seeing red right now, but let's be realistic here. The odds aren't in our favor. We've been cheating death ever since the Shadow Isles started invading since who knows when. But something tells me that the deck is stacked further against us now. So what's going on Sarah?
I don't know how, or why, but my eyes and ears didn't decieve me. Vincent the Shadow has returned to the land of the living.
What? You don't mean...
Aye. Me dad's back. Obviously not alive, but that was definitely him. Methinks he's the one in charge of the whole thing.
At the very least, he's leading the Bilgewater invasion.
Ohohoh ok. I'm definitely good and scared now.
Tarnation. I. I dunno what to say. Vincent's stories made me seasick when he was alive. Now he's a ghost? And trying to take over Bilgewater? Phew. Man we are good and screwed now ain't we?
It gets worse. I think he has the moonstone. I'm not entirely sure, but his powers mirroed mine. He was manipulating the weather and the tides during the invasion. We think that's how they were able to get so far in the first place.
I reckon we're mighty done for, if I do say so myself. We had some slim odds before, but, these odds are almost zero now.
Never tell me the odds. I'm not going to sit here while some rotting pirate levels my city to the ground.
Hah! The entertainment of the night! Even if this was yer city, you couldn't defend it with the manpower of all the ships I've sunk! How do you expect to stop the second greatest pirate in Bilgewater history now that he's got the entire dead at his command? I'm listenin?
As much as it makes me want to hurl saying it, we're completely outmatched. You're right. But together we managed to push him back for another year. By ourselves, we're doomed. But if we stick together, we can take the fight to them if we get enough support.
Hate to break it to yah, but GP's burned more bridges than TF here ever did. We can officially cross Ionia and Bandle City off our list, we're definitely not on speakin' terms.
That's the thing, Bilgewater doesn't have an official government. The actions were brought on by Gangplank and the other pirates alone. And that's why we're here. I propose the formation of an official Bilgewater government. With me in charge.
... I hate to say it, but the lass is right. I've already agreed to a ceasefire until we get this Shadow Isles nonsense out of the way.
I have Gangplank on my side for this. The terms are that he helps us defend Bilgewater and our potential allies, and if he does a good enough job and doesn't break anymore Runeterran laws, he gets a pardon for his crimes. Same goes with you two if you agree. What say you?
Nice try cupcake, but that ain't gonna work on me. I'll be damned if the Card Shark's head isn't on a pike by the end of this. I ain't giving up my revenge. If yer gonna stop me, I'm out. I have other options and I ain't sticking around fer this. I'll give you a day's head start TF, after this, you're back in the crosshairs traitor.
Well, that went better than I expected. I didn't get shot at this entire meeting. Well I'm not much for law abiding, but if I can get a clean slate with my fancy card tricks at the end of this, count me in.
LET ME AT EM!
If it means peace on land and the moonstone for me, I'll join your cause.
Well lass, I suppose you got yer answers.
Alright then. May the tides be on our side. This meeting's adjourned. Thank you everyone. Because of your help, Bilgewater has a fighting chance. I promise I won't betray your trust. Vincent the Shadow will have to pry Bilgewater from my cold, dead hands.
