the only thing he offers is a very slight movement speed and attack damage buff, along with a weak slow on his passive. GP should not be a support and I hope when he gets reworked this year, Riot keeps that in mind. His kit is best for farming.

I agree GP needs a rework, but as for him supporting, you seem to forget that he has:

A heal that removes all crowd control that isn't a knockup (more reason for me to hate this bitch ). So if you tank CC for your carry, you pretty much nullify any kill lanes with and (especially Thresh, ho boy, Gangplank shits on Thresh HARD)
A global ultimate that slows

Yes, his kit was made for sieges and farming, but as a support, he doesn't need farm, he just needs to tank and give power to his team, which is what his permaslow, oranges, and raise morale allow him to do.

Well, not really. It was only when Relic Sheild was introduced where you could actually take Gangplank support seriously. The only time I would've taken Gangplank bot lane before that is if there was a Thresh on the enemy team, because Oranges are OP.
