Very Thematic Ability Tweaks for Shen.
These changes will make AD and AP builds on shen more viable while remaining tanky and balanced. Shen is a tank fighter but he feels more like a tank support because of the team utility and lack of damage. Since he has a fighter tag and not mage or assassin I wanted to make him more dps oriented with a unique counter mechanic, this loosens the constraints our Energy-based AP offTank faces. I made him tankier to melee and ranged carries buffing both his popular roles as Top Laner and Support. However I did not want to go over his damage budget, and I did not want to take power from his Ult Shield as I found it would render it useless, so I took the little power he dealt on Shadow and shared it between Vorpal Blade and Feint in the form of AD.
Points I had in mind when making kit:
-
Shen deals more damage the more he takes.
-
In extended combat Shen learns his enemy's fight pattern. Careful timing and swift reflexes allow him to parry them now and then.
-
Taunted Champions become enraged and fight sloppy making it easier for Shen to dodge their basic attacks with ease.
-
The most wounded allies receive the strongest shielded balancing skirmishes.
-
Late Game Hyper Tank. High regeneration, hard to kill, damage that racks up overtime, constant CC output.
[Passive] Ki Strike Unchanged. (It's perfect for my rework... Riot might have to change it for theirs)
[Q] Vorpal Blade Deals 40/80/120/160/200 +65% AP and +30% Total AD as magic damage. Cost 60 Energy. Cooldown 5 seconds. Range 550. Missle Speed 2000. Deals half damage to champions who take indirect damage. In pursuit of it's target vopal blade deals graze damage to enemy units it passes through. 20/40/60/80/100 +32.5% AP and 15% Total AD.** Applies healing mark to initial target only. Healing unchanged.
[W] Feint:- Passive: Shen parries ever 5th auto attack he receives from an enemy champion if shen has not taken basic attack damage within 8 seconds he will parry the next basic attack received. After every parry shen's next auto attack is guaranteed to critically strike dealing 130/155/180/205/230% of shen's total AD. This Crit Damage reduces the cooldown Ki Strike by an additional 2 seconds unto the 1 second of the basic attack. (-3 secs).
(Active): Shen empowers his body with energy knocking surrounding enemies (In a 180 unit radius) marked with Vorpal Blade back 250 units from cast center. Shen temporarily gains 10% +(1% per 10 AP) damage reduction, 50% increased healing from all sources and parries every 4th basic attack received down from every 5th, for the duration. Lasts 4.5 seconds. Cost 50 Energy. Cooldown 7 seconds. (cooldown begins after duration).
[E] Shadow Dash:- Taunted champs are forced to attack shen dealing 50% reduced damage on basic attacks.
Problem: What good is damage reduction if it's only on basic attacks in a 1.5 second window?
can reduce all incoming damage by 30% up to 6 seconds max rank.
Totally blocks the first projectile and reduces subsequent projectiles up to 40% for up to 4 secs max rank.
Can reduce all non-turret damage by 20% for all allies 10 secs.
Solution: Shen dodges all basic attacks received from taunted champions... if it's too strong you could make him only dodge the first basic attack received.
Remove Shadow Dash's damage and make it pure CC, this way you can move this power to the rest of his kit.
Taunt duration increased to 1.75 secs. Range unchanged. Cooldown and Energy Cost reduction per lvl unchanged. Shen now dodges all basic attacks received from taunted enemies. (Taunted champions do not consume parry). Dashing to targets marked with Vorpal Blade reduces the cooldown of Shadow Dash by 15%.
[R] Stand United: Passive: Into the Fray: Shen takes 5/7.5/10% reduced damage from critical strikes and AoE spells.
(Active): Shen channels for 5 seconds granting target ally a shield absorbing 200/400/600 +60% AP +10% of the target ally's missing health. After 3 seconds of channeling shen teleports to target ally. Shielded allies benefit globally from aura effects Shen has, gain 50% of Into the Fray's passive bonus (2.5/3.75/5% reduced damage from Crits and AoE spells) and gain 20/30/40 flat mov spd for 1.5 seconds.
