I still get the feeling, through reading comments from other Reds, that this skin was only given to Zilean because he's had a four year wait for one. In other words, I'm not sure this concept was the best fit for Zilean and I don't think that really entered into the discussion with the skins team. They just wanted to get one out, even if it wasn't worth a four year wait (sorely disappointed at this, too)

Since Moredkaiser is now the champion with the longest wait for a new skin, should we expect a Marauder or Warden Mordekaiser instead of something worth that four year wait?

What gets me the most about this whole blood moon thing, is that it originated with the Kinkou; Akali and Shen. It states in the old Justice Journal that the blood moon outfits are traditional Ionian outfits worn for ceremonies and among other things. I don't understand how the Shadow Isles got their hands on the blood moon outfits to begin with. But I accepted it. . . in my mind I thought maybe Kalista and Elise maybe visited the Ionian Island long before the Shadow Isles and were given the Blood moon outfits as a gift.

As far as Thresh getting a blood moon outfit, my guess would be that he killed an Ionian member of the Kinkou taking the costume and soul. A little far fetched I know but being as how Riot has no interest in appealing to the lore they once had set up, it would be my only guess. What gets me the most about this skin is that it is saying a big "EFF YOU!" to the people who actually do care about the story and would like something more to come of it.

The reality of the fact is that people will buy the skin just like how thousands of members petitioned against the release of Lunar Diana, Riot still did it. It really revolves around the fact that we as the community, play a free to play game, which makes our compromises less heard. They will come out of Blood Moon Zil which will make no sense on the hundreds of pages of story Riot wrote before and people will buy it none the less. At this point Riot is doing a great job of maintaining the integrity of the game by bringing a new mix of things and new balance. However, that being said, this brings a cost, the lore cannot be updated nearly as fast, the back stories are to be worked on, and lets face it; skins are just skins now just to bring in money.

I hate this Zil skin, I think it is dumb and shouldn't have been thought off in the first place. However, like I said before, because Riot is focusing more on the game itself rather than on the lore, back stories, etc. Expect to see more and more of 'sell out' stuff. I agree with just about everyone on this thread though, I feel cheated and played as if I am not someone that matters. But, like I said, until we start paying for our membership, don't expect Riot to listen to closely, they already know what is going to make them money and they will keep to it.

P.S. I love the changes to the game play though! Keep it up and I'll keep playing. Skins and everything else is all secondary!

So, a lot of consideration and hard work went into making Blood Moon Zilean, but at no point in the process was any consideration given towards making the skin worth a 4 year wait. They decided to just do it, worth be damned.

It's not the first time it's happened, either. Celestine Soraka and Marauder Warwick are the worst examples of skins not worth the wait since their previous ones.

Simply put, I don't think the fans matter to the skins team (or much of the company) anymore if they can just spit in the face of a lot of anticipation, especially when they whine how much of a "special snowflake" Zac is and why he hasn't had a skin since launch.

Celestine Soraka and marauder Warwick at least have something going for them. Soraka being a heavenly being, I can understand Celestine. Warwick being a ravenous beast in battle, I understand marauder. The April fools skins even match the themes. People are getting pissed because of what you said "So, a lot of consideration and hard work went into making Blood Moon Zilean." It doesn't make much sense does it?

What if for Zac's skin they came out with "Sun Burst Zac" and all it is him with cool flames and a orange glow? Would that be cool? Sure, why not? But, would it feel more like a slap in the face for the fans of him and even those who aren't? The fact is, Riot either doesn't have the man power to maintain skins, story, game play, and champs. Or they just don't give a damn. My guess is they cut the lore makers out which enabled them to go ahead and push whatever skins they feel like will get them their monies worth.

I am in no way saying that not having that part of the game would destroy (as it is proven that they don't have time or care for it anymore, looking at Bard who has a whopping 4 sentences of story behind him.) I will still continue to play no matter how many skins they make (for better or worse) and I will also continue to spend money I choose to. Does it make it right that Riot can monopolize on this fact. Maybe, maybe not. However, I do believe that Riot does owe it to their fans to make something along the lines that would fit the champs they spent so much time making; and so much time by us enjoying.

When Lunar Goddess Diana was made an eternity ago, the first skin ever for Diana, there were tons of complaints that it was piss-poorly made... (Which it was, especially the lack of an actual face on it.) So Parrot said they'd be making another one in roughly 6 months. I didn't know 6 months in Riot terms meant 2 years.

Thematically... I really think you guys dropped the ball on this one :-/

Zilean waited FOUR YEARS for a skin & this one isn't a remote fit.

It's pretty & the animations are slick, I'll give it that.

But Arclight Zilean would've made a TON more sense.

A Zilean who's transcended existence/space/time...

If anything, please ship this skin's Chroma in your first or second Chroma release.

With particle recoloring as Chroma option so we can have those Light fx.

It really does feel like you guys just rushed a theme out because "oh it's been four years" & didn't put much effort into conceptualizing a good fit for Zilean; we waited four freaking years to get a pretty, awkwardly out-of-place skin for him... with no guarantee the Chroma option will release in a timely manner because you guys are utilizing the same poorly executed release plan as with skins (which really ought to be handled differently).

Please ask if you can get Zilean's Chroma bumped to the front of the assembly line for us Galetta, please!!!

Honestly, if you guys don't budge on particle recolors, I'm going to prefer his default skin's Red Chroma to this... which' very sad.

Same with Lux getting another military-themed skin... they promised to expedite a new, different one afterward... but it's been at least over a year now.

They went all but silent on the subject for what felt like forever too, til recently a Rioter unrelated to those conversations dropped that it was a 'miscommunication' because Meddler isn't on the Skins Team which' ludicrous because he was collaborating with the Skins Team & speaking on their behalf during that time. And then wouldn't respond further on the subject.

And then Quinn was promised an expedited MTU/TU nearly two years ago to date, I struggled over that two-year period to get any word out of Riot for the lack of follow-through... finally got an inkling from IronStylus that he'd have a conversation with a guy about it soon(tm) & he promptly disappeared for weeks now with no follow-up & no reply to threads requesting one.

It's sadly, so shameful how Riot's handled this; it's seriously disheartening how they handle their communication & frequently neglect respectfully appropriate follow-through.

There's a propriety & an etiquette to following up or through when promises are made.

Rather than us making 100+ threads over 2+ years with 1,000+ upvotes & never hearing a thing.

Yeah, sorry, but I wouldn't respect this community either. Every time a Rioter says a single sentence on these boards, they are bombarded with questions and people raging left and right.

In fact, I wouldn't call it a lack of respect, I would call it avoiding an argument. If they were allowed to, I bet every Rioter, if asked, couldn't even count the number of times they have wanted to lash out in defence for themselves, their coworkers, and the company they work for. But they can't, because they have to play "the customer is always right" game, or risk having all of Riot get sued due to some idiot taking what they said too personally.

I hope she does. Not to be rude but this honestly made me very upset that not only did the other 5 champs get one before Diana but then zilean....at least the others worked with that skin, zilean doesn't at all.

The Blood Moon Zilean skin feels so rushed and out of place... It doesn't fit him at all :/ Is there any chance this skin will get pulled off the PBE and replaced with a proper one? like Arclight Zilean or Celestial Zilean or something...

There is a definite hypocrisy going in with the skins team and this Blood Moon Zilean skin. Frankly, it's disappointing to see it manifest itself this way.

On one hand, Zac has been waiting nearly two years for a skin and members of the QA team keep saying that "Zac is a special snowflake and we want to make a skin worth the wait."

On the other hand, Zilean has waited four years for a new skin and we get "Blood Moon," a concept that doesn't have a natural fit with him. And the reason for this skin? "He's waited four years for a new skin, so we decided to give him one."

Was any consideration given to the idea of making the skin worth the wait? I don't believe so and there's nothing that anyone from Riot is saying that makes me think otherwise. Honestly, I believe this skin was made solely to prevent all of the "Zilean skin where? It's been four years, Rito" lines you would have received otherwise.

I'm truly fearful that the skins team would create equally unworthy skins for Mordekaiser, Yorick, Kassadin and Taric, the next champs in that "close to four year wait" line, just to avoid some embarrassment.

This would be a sad day for me, Galetta, but disappointment is par for the course with Riot these days for an old fan like me.

All I'm saying is look at what condition archlight vayne went on to PBE and look at her now, I'm thinking/hoping this skin has plenty more work to be done, although I still don't understand the blood moon choice since he's all desert and shurima instead of a more Japanese styled champ like the rest of the line
