[Champion Concept] Lordynes, The Wolves of Order
Hello! This is the last in a series of champion concepts I came up between 2012 and 2016, and submitted to Riot as part of an ill-fated game design application back in April 2016. Some of the lore concepts or references to in-game mechanics may be out of date now, but I'd still welcome any feedback (also about the post itself, somewhat of a forum noob). My notes are in brackets, question marks denote sections I thought would need balancing. I hope you enjoyed reading through some of my ideas, and thank you for your time! I also scripted a pair of cinematic ideas and had a list of silly pun skin ideas, should there be interest.
Abilities: Exponential Growth (Passive)- Every time Lordynes kills a large monster or minion, it converts their life essence into a cube; increasing all damage dealt by [3?%]. Lordynes begins the game with 5/6/7 cubes, and excess cubes are lost upon death. **Function Impairment- **Lordynes fires one of its cubes at an enemy, dealing [+AD] physical damage and attaching itself to the first enemy hit. Upon reactivation or [3?s] after sticking to an enemy or reaching the end of its path, the cube explodes, dealing [+AP] magic damage and stunning all nearby enemies and leaving the cube for Lordynes’ to refund for a short time after [4?s]. [This ability costs a cube, unless Lordynes is at the minimum cubes] **Void Leech- **Lordynes passively sucks lifeforce energy from all nearby enemies, dealing [+AP] magic damage and healing itself for the same amount. Lordynes can activate this ability to also steal [1/2/3/4/5%] movement speed from each nearby enemy for [10?s]. [30/27.5/25/22.5/20?s CD, life leech lost while ability is on CD] **Lifeform Simulation- **Lordynes assumes a facsimile of the target’s appearance to better understand it, using this knowledge to deal [+AD] bonus true damage with every basic attack made against that target. [15?s CD] **Exigent Measures (Ultimate)- **Lordynes rapidly assimilates the nearby environment, temporarily generating [5/6/7] cubes and gaining a ranged basic attack. [20?s duration, 90/75/60?s CD]
Lore: Scholars of the Void have long been aware that the number of voidborn creatures entering Runeterra is increasing. Only recently has it been rumored that rather than conquest, the voidborn may be fleeing from something, searching for knowledge and power to fight back. Deep in the darkest recesses of the Void a machine intelligence awoke, and set about ordering the universe. Unrelenting and without mercy, it steadily converted anything it encountered into identical parts of its swarm. How can you stop the thing that even monsters flee from?
[Notes: Lordynes never drops below a minimum of cubes, whether from abilities or death. Function Impairment leaves the cube it cost on the ground after the explosion for Lordynes to pick up by walking over it. If it was cast a cube minimum, it does not leave a cube on the ground. Lifeform Simulation causes Lordynes to rearrange its cubes into the general shape of the target, while still visibly made of cubes. Exigent Measures turns the area where it was cast black and white for the duration of the ability. The damage bonus per cube needs to be very carefully tuned.]
