[Champion Concept] Lily, the Prodigy

Hello! This is the next in a series of champion concepts I came up between 2012 and 2016, and submitted to Riot as part of an ill-fated game design application back in April 2016. Some of the lore concepts or references to in-game mechanics may be out of date now, but I'd still welcome any feedback (also about the post itself, somewhat of a forum noob). My notes are in brackets, question marks denote sections I thought would need balancing. Last three tomorrow!

Abilities: Unpredictability (Passive)- Whenever Lily changes personalities, her next auto attack deals [%current mana] bonus magic damage. **Marcia- **Lily hits her target with enough rage to damage a nearby secondary target behind the first. Deals [+AP][+AD] bonus damage to slowed targets. Casting Marcia gives Lily a buff that adds a [4s?, low move%] slow to her next spell cast. [10/8.5/7/5.5/4? CD] **Peggy- **Lily is overcome with sadness, and her cry of anguish damages nearby enemies for [+AP] magic damage [% current hp]. Lily’s auto attacks return a small amount of mana while Peggy is dominant. Casting Peggy gives Lily a buff that restores a large amount [+AP] of mana on her next spell cast only if it hits an enemy champion. [8s? CD] Vanessa- Lily becomes unbearably cheerful, and siphons energy from an enemy, dealing [+AP] magic damage and restoring the same amount as health. Lily gains bonus lifesteal while Vanessa is dominant. Casting Vanessa gives Lily a buff that grants movement speed on her next spell cast. [15/14/13/12/11?s CD] **Outburst (Ultimate)- **Lily becomes overwhelmed by the cacophony in her head and loses control. Nearby enemies take [+AP][+AD] magic damage and are knocked back. Farther enemies take [+AP] magic damage and are briefly [1.5s?] silenced. [Concentric circles, no overlap. 90?s CD]

**Lore: **Sona’s parents, overcome with regret at having given away their firstborn daughter, and filled with frustration at being unable to track her down, decided to have a second daughter. Lily, showed incredible early potential, being compared to the now-famous Sona. However, despite periods of unparalleled creativity and talent in all aspects of music and art, Lily was prone to increasingly long mood swings that eventually became personality shifts, making her unproductive, unmanageable, and at times dangerous. Impetuously, Lily set out one day to track down Sona, the renowned musician she had been compared to her whole life.

[Notes: Lily’s damage should be primarily centered in ‘Marcia’ and her passive. Maximum dps should stem from judicious but frequent personality shifts, at a significant (unsustainable) mana cost unless the ‘Peggy’ bonus is utilized. Lily is a melee, and ‘Marcia’ acts as an auto-attack reset, much like Wukong’s Crushing Blow. Each dominant personality and personality bonus shows up as a buff on Lily, but only one of each buff can be active at a time. Personalities can be reactivated to gain their own bonus, but not to trigger Lily’s passive. ‘Outburst’ benefits from personality bonuses and from Lily’s passive, but leaves Lily without a dominant personality (aside from Lily herself, of course)]

So basically female Udyr?

I struggled a lot with this question. Ultimately, I decided there might be room for a variation on the core Udyr concept. Where Udyr wants to keep swapping stances the whole time to maximize passive + buff, I wanted to make Lily more about choosing the right time to do one or two big combos - the goal was to try to make a champion that was focused on the timing of swaps rather than the frequency. Ultimately, you may be right and it would prove to hard to distinguish from udyr or disincentivize the udyr-style gameplay.

I don’t think Riot would ever implement this because it stereotypes people with DID (dissociative identity disorder). They wouldn’t want to make a champion whose concept is just them having a mental illness. I can see how much effort you put into it though! It’s interesting. Keep up the good work.

Thanks! I thought about this, and my hope was that as long as it wasn't harmful or negatively skewed, it might have a place. You may be right though, and the ultimate implementation would have to be shifted away, and towards another concept (perhaps a multi-faced god-type, or maybe something rainbow/color based).
