[Champion Concept] Avery, The Burning Rush
Hello! This is the next in a series of champion concepts I came up between 2012 and 2016, and submitted to Riot as part of an ill-fated game design application back in April 2016. Some of the lore concepts or references to in-game mechanics may be out of date now, but I'd still welcome any feedback (also about the post itself, somewhat of a forum noob). My notes are in brackets, question marks denote sections I thought would need balancing.
Abilities: Playing With Fire (Passive)- Whenever Avery deals damage-over-time, she applies the effect to herself as well. As long as Avery is shielded, she gains [flat] attack damage and armor penetration. Molotov- Avery launches a Molotov cocktail, knocking the nearest champion hit away from the point of impact and dealing [+AP] damage. [Skillshot, similar to Gragas’ ult but with a radius similar to Trundle’s pillar, 20?s cd, can only hit a maximum of one person] Safety Off- Avery passively gains movement speed based on how much health [% of max] she is missing. Avery can activate Safety Off to make her auto attacks and abilities leave a DOT on the target that deals [% of max hp, scales with AD] damage. [Buff lasts 6?s, 15?s cd, passive is lost while Safety Off is on cd] Firewall- Avery’s next auto attack gives her a [flat AD] shield for [3?s]. The cooldown on Firewall is reset whenever Avery kills a turret, large or epic monster, and on champion kills and assists. [10?s cd] Burning Adrenaline (Ultimate)- Avery sprays a conical area with shrapnel in a lateral undulation fashion at increasing speeds, dealing [+AD] damage to enemies hit. Avery can move and turn while channeling Burning Adrenaline. [Bullet sprays back and forth inside a cone, slightly less than Miss Fortune’s ult. Back and forth motion speeds up, always fires in a cone in front of Avery, even when she moves or turns]
**Lore: **Avery is the daughter of bloody revolutions. Both her parents were freedom fighters and she was raised in a riotous atmosphere. Avery has a penchant for risky gambles and her weapon of choice is a modified incendiary grenade launcher.
[Notes: Avery is a modern, apocalyptic or revolt kind of girl. She wears mismatched protective gear and has a penchant for fire. She is a ranged champion with good AD scaling. Her playstyle is focused on high risk-high reward plays. Her balance should give her a strong midgame, but take into account shield-heavy teams (her passive affects any shield, including other champions, locket of the iron solari, barrier, etc) and potential damage over time effects (lizard buff, spirit of the lizard elder, Safety Off, Ignite)]
