[Champion Concept] Himada, The Blessed Wanderer

Hello! This is the next in a series of champion concepts I came up between 2012 and 2016, and submitted to Riot as part of an ill-fated game design application back in April 2016. It has some overlap with the Soraka rework that came out after I had finished it. Some of the lore concepts or references to in-game mechanics may be out of date now, but I'd still welcome any feedback (also about the post itself, somewhat of a forum noob). My notes are in brackets, question marks denote sections I thought would need balancing.

Abilities: Runic Mastery (Passive) - Himada gains double the benefit from all of his rune words. Rune Word: Truth - Himada places a [blue] rune on the ground that lasts for 1 min. Enemies who stand on the rune take [+AP] damage over time, and are revealed. Allies who stand on the rune gain bonus armor penetration. Maximum of 3 at one time. [Radius similar to cait/nidalee traps, CD similar to karthus’ lay waste] Rune Word: Wisdom - Himada places a [green] rune on the ground that lasts for 10 seconds. Allies who stand on the rune gain bonus magic resist and are healed [+AP] over time. [Radius similar to morgana’s tormented soil, 20s? CD] Rune Word: Humility - Himada places a [purple] rune on the ground. Allies who stand on it gain bonus movement speed. Enemies who stand on the rune are slowed. [Radius similar to Anivia’s ultimate, 10s? CD] Words of the Ancients (Ultimate) - Himada activates all the runes on the ground for bonus effects. Truth - Damages all enemies standing on the rune for [+AP] damage. Wisdom - Heals any allies standing on the rune for [+AP] and uses up the rune. Humility - Increases the movement increase and slow, as well as puts a [+AP] damage over time effect on affected enemies. [Similar to standing in singed’s poison] [Words of the Ancients is available at level 1, like karma. It has a maximum of 3 charges, and gains one every 25 seconds. Costs mana, no CD beyond the charges]

Lore: Himada is an ancient scholar-priest who wanders the world absorbing knowledge and helping people when he can. His age and experience has made him knowledgeable and wise beyond ordinary men. Stories say that he meditated with Rammus during his travels through Shurima, guiding the Armordillo on his quest. Long ago Himada first told Ryze of the legends of thorn magic, and more recently has tried to help Yasuo find a modicum of inner peace.

[Notes: Himada’s Truth runes grant vision of the area above them, as long as they are there. Similar to a much smaller clairvoyance. Mana costs should be balanced to prevent spamming of Truth + Words of the Ancients continuously; Himada should not be able to use those like karthus without significant item assistance. A note for balance - if Himada placed 3 truth runes in succession in the path of the minions, he should not be able to farm for the next minute without being there (possibly slower damage ticks, or smaller damage ticks with more damage coming from the Ultimate activation. Also, range on Ultimate should probably be about the same as a rank 1 nocturne ultimate. Himada levels up in a similar way to Jayce.]

Interesting concept for sure! Though depending on the duration of the purple rune it could get really overpowered as a zoning tool (just something to keep in mind). If you find it interesting you could try and specify how the runes look or even animate, I find it can help give readers better visual pictures and push your concept further as a champion. I'm making champion concepts too :P
