Recent new champion designs

I believe that the last handful of new champions release reek of a company who's designers are trying too hard to be creative. Kled, Talia, illaoi, Sol, Kindred...

Honestly, doesn't it seem like these champions are weird and odd just for the sake of being weird and odd?

Other champions resonate with me---hecarim brings ideas of headless horsemen and halloween nightmares...shaco, a nightmare jester, the stuff of bad dreams...blitzcrank reminds me of Robo from Chrono Trigger and other alternative technology steam powered type robots...Annie, the quintessential nightmare child...Ezreal, a very final fantasyish sexually ambiguous adventurer.

I could go on and on on.

The point is that a well designed champion will thematically resonate with the players, who will feel or grow and affinity for them.

I feel nothing for the recent champions. I think their concepts were conceived by designers who are out of ideas and grasping at straws.

Taliyah has a very nice theme, with a straightforward kit. As an "The Last Airbender" avid watcher as a child, her character really resonates with me, though I don't play her. Aurelion I guess is pretty cool, kind of a gimmick though. Kindred never clicked with me, and Illaoi and Kled are just all over, so I agree on those. Not much we can do though, and there ARE many people who enjoy playing the new champs.

I love mythology so anything that talks about the function of the world and its religions is awesome to me. I like Illaoi's and Kindred's themes, and their kits/game play (save Kindred's ult). I don't like Kindred's ult because it doesn't seem to fit its theme well. Lamb and Wolf choose who are to die, and when... but the ult is impartial, and helps everyone in the zone. wish it had more play with its passive. Kled, I am happy that a HAPPY Noxan champion was released, and a Yordle at that... last one went a bit nuts. I do feel like his back story seems to step on Aatrox's toes though... show up when battle is more or less lost, and turns the tides. Taliyah is very much a tribute/refrence to AtLA, and interesting, but to me she seems to barrow a bit to much from the idea, and doesn't feel unique to me. Sol seems bland for a creator, as does his kit...

Whats really annoying is how so many new champs have ults/abilities that are only for team fights and global positioning. Taliyah, Kled, Sol(E), Rek'Sai, Kindred so many abilities recently are geared towards team play, its just annoying how pushy Riot is for the whole team fight and nothing else system.
