Here is a character idea I made a long time ago, and feel the need to revamp and revitalize. While I do realize that he is still an incredibly generic character idea who has been done many times before, I still feel an obligation to get him out there. I recently decided to revitalize Nicholaus into a new character, the Mark 2. But he still had problems, so with the help of summoner MrXonte we spent around two weeks remaking him into the best he could possibly be. Not to say he couldn't be improved more, but Nicholaus Arthur Mark 3 is definitely the best he has ever been. So please please please, give a LOT of credit to MrXonte. He's been helping me all along the way, and from what it seems he helps others too. He's a good person, and should be congratulated as such. Thank you. artistic ability to even attempt doing so. However the one who drew this is a very good artist (in my own opinion) so if you want to see more go check them out. Also, Nicholaus was created during the time when mages dominated, as apposed to right now when they are suffering. While never in my wildest dreams would I imagine Nicholaus being placed into League or inspiring a concept of some kind, the addition of a champion specifically designed to fight an already weakened role probably wouldn't be the best for game balance. But that aside, here's Nicholaus Arthur:

Please note: I myself am not Christian, nor really subscribe to any religion. I just find the Crusades to be an interesting time in world history and wanted to create a character based on what those men did. When I made Nicholaus Mark 2, I was downvoted quite a bit. But once I explained I was not a Christian hoping to force my beliefs on others, the downvotes lessened by quite a bit. So thank you for understanding. I put a lot of effort into this, and I hope you give me a chance.

Passive: Blessed Armor Nicholaus wears armor blessed by the Gods. He gains resistance to magic damage of all types after casting an ability. The resistance begins at 20% and increases at levels 1, 6, 11, and 18 until the percentage increases to 50% at level 18. The resistance lasts for 1.5 seconds at all levels. STATS: Percentage True Armor Per Level: 20/30/40/50% at levels 1, 6, 11, and 18 Resistance Time Length: 1.5 seconds at all levels

Q: Holy Smite Nicholaus empowers his sword with ancient holy magics. His next basic attack deals extra magic damage and shreds the target's magic resistance. Nicholaus for the next five seconds at all levels, will deal more damage with all his abilities on the targeted enemy. Can affect Super Minions, champions, neutral monsters, and epic monsters. STATS: Damage: AP Bonus Damage on Ability Cast: 60/100/140/180/220 (+60% AP) Magic Resistance Shred: 15 % at all levels Time of Shred: 5 seconds at all levels Range: 150 (Normal auto attack range = 125) Cooldown: 10 seconds at all levels

W: Shield of the Gods Nicholaus throws out his shield in a straight line, damaging and slowing all enemies hit. Once the shield reaches the designated area, it channels energies and opens a partial gateway to the Ancient Gods in a circle. Allies in the circle gain a shield and extra bonus armor and magic resistance equal to a percentage of Nicholaus' resistances, and Nicholaus gains bonus movement speed while moving towards the opening. Pressing W again while the circle is still active will make the shield fly back to Nicholaus' arm, dealing smaller damage than when he throws it forward. For a three seconds after the shield is returned, Nicholaus gains bonus physical and magic resistance. STATS: Damage: Magic Outgoing Shield Damage: 60/75/90/105/120 (+45% AP) Returning Shield Damage: 35/50/65/80/95 (+30% AP) Allied Shield Amount: 80/160/240/320/400 (+40% of Nicholaus' bonus resistances) Slow Amount: 32/38/44/50/56% Bonus Armor and Magic Resistance: 10/15/20/25/30 percent increase Movement Speed Bonus: 75 units Maximum Throw Distance in Units: 850 units (Can be adjusted to be less to suit scenarios) Cooldown: 15 at all levels

E: Blinding Light Nicholaus blasts a glare of blazing light at enemy units in a cone. These enemy units are given a mark and take magic damage for every second it is active. When a basic attack is applied by Nicholaus to the marked enemy, they are stunned momentarily and the mark is consumed. Any enemy facing Nicholaus when the ability is activated are nearsighted, much like being in a Graves smoke cloud. Imagine the Darius pull reticle, but shorter and with wider sides. Nicholaus’ Q can also proc the mark. STATS: Damage: AP Damage Total: 80/120/160/200/240 (+40% AP) Damage Per Second Amount: 20/30/40/50/60 (+10% AP) Stun Duration: 0.5/0.75/1/1.25/1.5 Mark Length: 4 seconds at all ranks Range: 300 units Cooldown: 12/11/10/9/8 seconds

Ultimate: Wrath of the Gods Nicholaus prays for a few seconds, then unleashes a torrent of holy fire from above. He calls upon the power of the Gods to smite a large area on the map, causing a large amount of damage and slowing enemies caught in the blast. This ability also silences enemies. Nicholaus’ faith in undying, and the ability channel cannot be interrupted, even with a silence. However, he is still targetable (but takes less damage than when he is in a normal state) and enemies are given adequate time to leave the area quickly before the holy fire is brought down. Imagine a mixture of Nunu and Galio's ult, but without the taunt. STATS: Damage: AP Ability Damage: 300/450/700 (+200% AP) Time From Cast Until Damage: 2 seconds at all ranks Silence Duration: 1.5/2/2.5 Circle Range: 900 unit circle Casting Range: 5500/6500/7500 units Cooldown: 200/180/160 seconds

Playstyle and Skins: Nicholaus is a slow moving bruiser that specializes in taking down mages. With his passive he can heavily reduce incoming magic damage if timed correctly, and his ability Blinding Light offers a great choice of either dealing a large amount of damage to enemy or stunning them for quite some time. His W is a mostly supportive ability that can give him and his allies a strong boost in defense, and Nicholaus can become an extremely dangerous opponent for a melee enemy also standing in the circle. Nicholaus’ ultimate is a very powerful, but difficult to hit tool that allows him to pick off kills from long distances or force the enemy into a fight with allies. In lane you would generally use a Holy Smite on a close enemy followed by a quick W if the enemy decides to attempt to engage a fight. You W is very effective against melee enemies and is your general tool for dueling and keeping yourself alive in engagements. Your ultimate will generally be used to either pick off kills or force a team fight, though there is a chance to hit multiple people with the ability, which is rewarded with a high amount of damage. The first skin I want is a dragon slayer one. He would be decked out in the bones of slain dragons, and be on a never ending eternal quest to rid the world of the dragons. By himself. Sorry, I'm not really that creative. NOTE: I created Nicholaus Arthur to be based on the Knights of the Templar Order who were created during the Crusades. As powerful enforcers of the Law of God, they dominated for two centuries before being disbanded. Nicholaus will not go down without a fight, and holds a courage that rivals that of Darius and Garen.

Lore: In a city hidden in the western lowlands of the Ironspike Mountains to the south of Piltover and Zaun, lies an ancient kingdom. A kingdom that rules as one unified people rather than groups of bickering once tribes turned city-states. They live together in happiness and peace, enjoying the prosperity that unification has brought them. But none of this would have been possible without the escapades of the Order of Holy Knights, a group of hardened veteran warriors who enforce the laws of the ancient Gods. They live and die by this code and act not only as warriors who protect the land, but also peacekeepers who annihilate trouble wherever they deem it may be. While many enjoy the peace brought upon by the Knights, the Order is still widely feared due to their immense power and sway in the hierarchy of the kingdom. Some wonder if there are even men behind those masks, and not some other horrifying creatures of immeasurable power. Among these seasoned warriors is Nicholaus Arthur, the greatest knight of them all. He alone has slain countless abominations and demons throughout the lands and beyond. With a strict hatred for any magic that is not blessed, he has created several laws prohibiting the practice of it. This placed a damper on the happiness of the populace, as many were practitioners of the now exclaimed "unholy magics" but due to the fear that the Order placed into the hearts of the people, almost all obliged without so much as a single word of protest. While he despises near all magics, he feels a deep caring for what he considers to be his people and will do anything to protect them.

However, in recent days, strange and evil magics have been seeping into the very foundation of the kingdom. Magics that have come from a far away land. Nicholaus knew that if he stood idle and watched the magical scourge continue to grow, that he would lose his beloved people forever. Setting off by himself, he ordered his men to stand guard vigilantly and wait for his return. Nicholaus set off to seek the source of the evil magics, the first knight in a millennium to do so. He left the tall walls of his kingdom, and trekked across the Ironspike mountain range. Eventually he reached a civilized city state. His white armor had not so much as chipped on his weeks long journey. Upon descending into a large city-state by the name of Demacia to the locals, he was horrified over what he saw. Here were people who believed themselves to be shining examples of humanity, that they had no faults about them at all. Only the Gods have that right. He restrained himself from attacking, but marked the settlement in his mind and continued on. Everywhere he looked, he saw nothing but evil. Abominations the likes of which he has never seen from a place called the Void, tiny creatures from the far south that spoke the tongue of man and necromancy. Who are they, to defile the boundary between life and death? Next was a place where technology was the center of everyone's lives. Electric rail lines, strange men made of metal who stalk the streets, and mixtures of unholy magics with advanced technology. They see themselves as the brightest creatures that have ever existed. An opposing city spews toxic waste into the skies, killing everything the Gods worked so hard to create. No. No more of this. No more of this defilement, this, this, disregard for everything he and the almighty Gods stand for. Nicholaus is now on a quest. A quest of true holy virtue, which will test him at every obstacle that he comes to. A quest, unlike anything he has ever faced before. Sending word back to his homeland that warned of the gathering storm, he told them to summon all the holy magic they could muster to defend the kingdom and that he would soon rid the world of the evil that lived in Valoran. Armed with naught but his shield, sword, and unshakable faith, Nicholaus now goes from town to town, ridding the world of this vile scourge. One life at a time.

Enemies:

Any and all creatures from the Void.

The Demacians, especially their leaders such as JarvanIV, Garen, and the "light mage" known as Lux.

Scientists and promoters of Pilitover, people such as Jayce and Ezreal. Nicholaus's self-imposed quest has caught the eyes of Caitlyn and Vi who seek to bring him to justice. Well, Caitlyn wants to anyway. Vi has less legal plans.

The abominations and the "scientists" who created them of Zaun, namely Viktor, Twitch, Singed, Warwick, ect.

All the Yordles of Bandle City and abroad.

The "Ascended" of Shurima, and those who worship the Sun Disk such as Azir, Renekton, and Nasus.

Any and all who practice magic in Valoran, of which there are none who use his type of magics. Nicholaus will not hesitate against any foe, even those of children such as Annie.

The Ice Witch Lissandra.

Things brought back or kept alive by necromancy such as Sion and Urgot.

Walking animals and "shapeshifters" like Rengar and Nidalee.

Manifestations of fear and darkness such as Fiddlesticks and Nocturne.

Pirates, bounty hunters, and the like. Namely the more prominent ones such as MissFortune and Gangplank.

Rivals:

Vayne She wages a similar war to that of Nicholaus himself, but hers is mostly due to personal reasons while Nicholaus feels a duty to eliminate the evils of the world. He has met her at least once before, and believes her to be too blind by her own personal motives to see the bigger picture.

Kayle A false angel who spouts lies and uses a pathetic mockery of holy magic. Nicholaus despises her on a personal level, and has branded her a heretic. However he does not believe he should kill her, for she is not deserving to die by his hand. Those who make a mockery of the Gods are to face judgement by the Gods themselves, not by mortal men. She is deserving of the highest punishment.

Illaoi A similar situation to Kayle, however Nicholaus and Illoai's battles are of religious differences. He believes that she is a false prophet and seeks to drag the world down to the depths with her false gods, and she believe him to be a self-righteous fool who should take the test and feel the wrath of Nagakabouros.

Neutral:

Maokai A creation of corrupted magics, yet a creation who continuously fights to destroy the very forces that created him. His ultimate goal will end in his death and the restoration of balance. While Nicholaus still believes him to be of evil creation, he tolerates his presence due to Maokai's ultimatum.

Kassadin As with Maokai before him, Kassadin gained his power through the twisted magics of the Void. However, like Maokai once more, he seeks to destroy the very thing that has given him his power. Could potentially redeem himself at the end of his long journey against the forces of darkenss.

Malphite a creature of strange origins, who uses a magic unfamiliar to Nicholaus. He cannot make up his mind over Malphite.

Darius a man of true strength, intelligence, and ruthlessness. In a way he reminds Nicholaus of himself at a younger age very much. However Darius still works with and sees Swain, a dark magics user, as his superior. For this, Nicholaus cannot consider him as someone who could be a potential ally. However Nicholaus does not hate him, nor wish to destroy him, but will if need be.

Draven annoyingly full of himself, but not a terrible person overall. Executioners are needed in the world, even if they decide to be overly flamboyant. If he were to tone himself down, there would be no major quarrel between him and Nicholaus.

Nautilus a mystery to himself as well as Nicholaus, Nautilus shows no signs of being a dark magics user and doesn't interfere in Nicholaus's work. But something is off about him, something terrible.

This character is a streamlined version of the previous Nicholaus Arthur, who was a streamlined version of the previous Nicholaus Arthur, and I would really like to thank you if you actually suffered through my terrible ideas and made it to the end. Please tell me what you think in the comments, and have a good one.

Ultimate feels out of place. It's something you'd find on a mage or similar but not a tank. In particular is the quite long range on it, as well as the fact he has to stand still. If, on the other hand, he jumped in and caused the rain to start...that would be a lot more interesting!

I would play him that's for sure. I think he seems like a good midlane pick against ap mages. One thing I think is weird is how he has no allies only rivals enemies and nuetrals

Hey dude! Before I get started I want to say that the comments I make are purely my opinion, and that at the end of the day they're your champ and not my champ, so make them however you want :)

I actually like this quite a bit. It's very simple and straight forward, but has an impact. Just to clarify though: You state that they become resistant to magic but then list true armour as increasing per level. Do you mean to saying magic resist?

Q: Holy Smite Nicholaus empowers his sword with ancient holy magics. His next basic attack deals extra magic damage and shreds the target's magic resistance. It also slows for a small amount. Nicholaus for the next five seconds at all levels, will deal more damage with all his abilities on the targeted enemy. Can affect Super Minions, champions, neutral monsters, and epic monsters. STATS: Damage: AP Bonus Damage on Ability Cast: 60/100/140/180/220 (+60% AP) Magic Resistance Shred: 15 % at all levels Time of Shred: 5 seconds at all levels Slow Amount: 10/15/20/25/30 percent Time of Slow: 5 seconds at all ranks Range: 150 (Normal auto attack range = 125) Cooldown: 10 seconds at all levels

A good lead in ability for a kit. Pretty straight forward, nothing too flashy and sets up for the rest of the combo. My only comment would be that maybe it does a bit too much? You have a damage, magic resistance shred, slow, AND damage modifier (will deal more damage with all his abilities on the targeted enemy). I would say remove the slow from this seeing as you already have one on your W, and essentially your combo would be throw the shield out with your W and slow them, then while they're slowed you get in and Q them, then call your shield back.

W: Shield of the Gods Nicholaus throws out his shield in a straight line, damaging and slowing all enemies hit. Once the shield reaches the designated area, it channels energies and opens a partial gateway to the Ancient Gods in a circle. Allies in the circle gain a shield and extra bonus armor and magic resistance, and Nicholaus gains bonus movement speed while moving towards the opening. Pressing W again while the circle is still active will make the shield fly back to Nicholaus' arm, dealing smaller damage than when he throws it forward. For a three seconds after the shield is returned, Nicholaus gains bonus physical and magic resistance. STATS: Damage: Magic Outgoing Shield Damage: 60/75/90/105/120 (+45% AP) Returning Shield Damage: 35/50/65/80/95 (+30% AP) Allied Shield Amount: 80/160/240/320/400 (+40% AP) Slow Amount: 32/38/44/50/56% Bonus Armor and Magic Resistance: 10/15/20/25/30 percent increase Bonus Armor and Magic Resistance to Allies: 10/15/20/25/30 flat increase Movement Speed Bonus: 75 units Maximum Throw Distance in Units: 850 units (Can be adjusted to be less to suit scenarios) Cooldown: 15 at all levels

Seems fun. I've always been a fan of throwing stuff and picking it up (I'm actually working on a concept where that's basically the whole kit haha), and what you've got seems good and actually kind of similar to what I came up with. I would suggest lowering the return damage a little more, as again you are already getting quite a bit for a single ability. Also, consider changing the "Allied Shield Amount" to scale with a percentage of Nicholaus armour and magic resist instead of AP and remove the bonus armour and magic resist they get. Providing both a shield AND increased armour and magic resist is incredibly strong, and that was the simplest balance I could think of. Another method of balancing could be to lower his armour and magic resist for the duration of him not holding his shield ie you're trading your own defenses to potentially save many allies. I like this ability a lot though and there's a lot you can play around with in this.

This is...okay. But I'm not exactly sure what its purpose is. It doesn't seem like an ability he should have. I don't know what it is but it's not striking me so to speak. It kind of feels out of place. Sorry wish I could give you more on this. I've read it through a few times now and it's just falling flat for me. Again, this is personal opinion.

STATS: Damage: AP Ability Damage: 300/450/700 (+200% AP) Time From Cast Until Damage: 3 seconds at all ranks Silence Duration: 1.5/1.75/2/2.25/2.5 Circle Range: 900 unit circle Casting Range: 5500/6500/7500 units Cooldown: 200/180/160 seconds

Hmmm. This is alright, but can do with some tweaking. For starters, the 3 second channel is waaay to long. It's too large of a window to give your opponent to respond, whether that be with damage or by simply running away. It's awkward in a team fight because you essentially stand there for 3 seconds doing nothing, and essentially making a fight a 4 v 5 for that duration. This is also the third slow you have in your kit now (Q,W and R), which I again would suggest removing. It also doesn't seem as grand as it could be if that makes sense. Like "This is the best his Gods can do?" kind of thing. This about it: You are channeling the power of Gods. All powerful beings

I actually like the silencing effect quite a bit, and this can be crucial in a team fight (that said, you have 5 levels of scaling on the ability). Given that we have an AoE knock up (Zyra ), root (Amumu ), and slow/stun (Leona), a silence seems good and new. Riot are trying to reduce the number of champions with silence though, but seeing as this is just for fun I think it could be cool.

Overall the concept seems cool. There's a lot of stuff that you could tweak and work around with his hit, and for the most part it seems pretty thematic. I feel like you're in a good spot to start from and work this into something awesome. Nice work!

Interesting concept, the amount of defense and defensive steroids might be a bit much. The ultimate is way way overpowered. But this is one of the few concepts I have seen that could be tuned into something viable.
