If I was given the chance to rework Katarina.

Warning - (Kat has two fan bases that split into AOE or Asassin style, this will be an opinionated rework making her Assassin style core) This is a long post and at the bottom I provide my feels for Assassins in general

Katarina to me is a skilled Assassin that fights on the edge of burst and speed. Highly rewarded for pulling hard plays and heavily punished for making mistakes.

(The resource system within this kit is not tuned for balance, it is used as an example)


Passive - Cunning and Voracity

-**Cunning **

  • Katarina has a unique resource system that consumes daggers. (This provides room for balancing Dagger resources for being rewarding on aggressive/successful plays and costly to play safe, raw dagger cost on abilities for examples)
  • Consuming marks refunds Katarina One Dagger.
  • Katarina picks up Daggers she walks over.
  • Cool down reduction/Mana regeneration regenerates Daggers Faster.

-Voracity

  • Killing champions refunds Katarina two Daggers.
  • Katarina's basic attacks on Marked targets slow the target for 3/4/5 seconds.
  • AP scales into bonus AD.
  • Recovering Daggers reduces the cool down of Katarina's ultimate by X seconds.

Q - Bouncing Blades

  • Cost one Dagger.

  • 10/8/6/4/2 second Cool down(Cool down reduction does not lower this cool down)

  • Katarina throws a dagger at target location. If this dagger hits a champion it will mark/damage them and bounce to the ground near that champion(will bounce according to distance/angle of throw) or bounce off towards other champions.

  • if Katarina consumes a mark with this ability the dagger will split into two bouncing blades in opposite directions.

  • (Magic Damage but scales off of bonus AD and AP)

  • (Considered Single Target)

  • (Will damage minions/monsters on its path but will stop on champions)

  • (Can bounce on champions/marks up to four unique champions)

  • (Skill shot/You can dodge it)

  • (Katarina's Daggers on the ground can be stepped on to be deleted)

W - Sinister Blades

  • Cost one Dagger

  • 4 second Cool down (Cool down reduction does not lower this cool down)

  • Katarina spins in a circle throwing daggers in 8 directions that damage minions/monsters/champions they pass through.

  • If Katarina consumes a mark with this ability she gains 5%/6%/7%/8%/9%/10% per champion hit.

  • (Magic Damage but scales off of bonus AD and AP)

  • (These daggers are smaller, do not bounce, and do not create new marks.)

E - Shunpo

  • Cost three Daggers

  • 10/9/8/7/6/5 second cool down (Cool down reduction does not lower this cool down)

  • Katarina blinks to target dagger or marked champion.

  • Deals X/X/X/X/X damage.

  • If Katarina consumes a mark with this ability she gains 15% damage reduction for 1/1.25/1.50/1.75/2.00 seconds.

  • (Magic Damage but scales off of bonus AD and AP)

  • (I would change this abilities animation into Katarina popping out of black smoke and certain skins would change the color of the smoke/change it to sand etc)

R - Death Lotus (I would change the name but I don't know what I would change it to)

  • 90/60/45 Cool down (Cool down reduction does not lower this cool down) Katarina for the next 5/7.5/10 seconds reduces all her cool downs to 1 second and she regenerates Daggers faster during this time.

This would be a rework that I would thoroughly enjoy. A resource system that doesn't revolve around mana but instead revolve around how you choose to fight with your limited Daggers and rewarding your successful plays. Having a sort of global cool down while she gets to jump from target to target without making it near impossible for your enemies to respond. In depth decisions of mark consuming without being just damage but also utility or defense.

An Assassin to me isn't a 100-0 you character. It means a lot more than that to me. Setting up the environment, using different tools depending on the situation, and the speed of the fight being within your tempo. That is what makes Katarina fun to me and I feel she has so much more potential than simply face smashing.

I'm an Assassin main in all the games I play and I feel as if League of Legends isn't capturing what the feel of an Assassin is suppose to be anymore. So here I provide this kit as an example of what a real Assassin would feel like and how I would envision a Katarina rework.

This rework would basically change everything that makes kata kata. Kata has no problems within her kit so she doesn't need to be reworked.
