Recent Champions
Am I the only one that feels like Riot is trying to0 hard with some of the recent champions? Like, it seems they area all bizarre and weird in a desperate attempt to make them feel unique and original.

I like Illaoi. She looks super fun, and the whole 'siege tank' is a really interesting niche. Conceptually, I like that they're pushing the envelope: I mean, I can name at least ten champions off the bat that are just literally just different flavors of human wizard. Lux, Annie, Janna, Karma, LeBlanc, Lissandra, Malzahar, Sona, Syndra, Swain, Zilean, and Zyra are light, energy, fire, wind, energy, illusion, ice, void, sound, energy, death, time, and plant wizards, respectively; they have a particular role and use their abilities' power over their particular theme to accomplish it. Champions like Illaoi, who have a clear, distinct theme and use that theme interact with the environment in new ways are really good to see. Unlike a visual or lore-wise 'tentacle champion' (DJ Vel'Koz in da house), Illaoi's theme is expressed through a new gameplay pattern, which I really like.
