Time saved by autofill, lost by people ditching matches

How much time is really saved with auto fill?

There are so many times where someone dodges because they don't like their role, and then you have to wait and make a new game, and then it happens again.

I am not convinced that auto fill saves much time, and it definitely decreases the quality of peoples attitudes in matches.

I know Riot has tried to recently make support more exciting, but like a lot of Riot does, they think that dressing up something that sucks will make it suck less, without addressing the fundamental problem.

I think that when you pick your role you should pick from top mid bot and jungle. Picking support should mean you are for sure getting support, and because of that, a boots in LP if you win, and bonus IP. Just attract support mains so we don't all have to suffer through matches thrown because the player either doesn't want to play that role, or they try, but they are not good because they only play it when forced to.

Autofill needs to go. I'll gladly wait 5 minutes for a match rather than someone who is horrid at the role they got. Myself, I am horrible at jungle. I'm all for practicing but I can go normals for that. Not in ranked.

How can a crappy idea like that get so much upvotes, dont people actually have a brain on these boards ? This should have been downvoted to oblivion.

A boost in LP ? Seriously ? It's stupid for a lot of reasons actually :

  • It's unfair.

  • It will place the tiers and divisions of supports main higher than the non support player, but the funniest thing is as the matchmaking uses MMR and not grades to match players, these support will keep playing with the same players as before, but they would complain a lot because "omg i'm silver 3 and i'm alway matched with and against silver 5", because their MMR would still be silver 5 actually.

  • since their MMR would be lower than their actual tier/division, they will win less LP per win, then get a bonus, they would just go as high as bonus + lowered lp win = lp win if they were at the right tier/division.

  • Who cares about LP ? Everything is about MMR.

Autofill is a joke. In most elos the outcome of the game depends a lot on who got autofilled. What makes riot think an autofilled jungler is going to have the same impact on a game compared to a jungle main. Same for any role.

An infinite amount actually.

Lets say there are only 10% people putting support as first or second role : 100 people connects and starts a queue. There are 10 supports available. It allows 5 game to be started. 50 people are in game, 50 are still waiting. 100 people connects. There are 10 support available. It allows 5 game to be started 40 of the 50 people still waiting get matched with the 10 supports. There are now 110 people waiting.

Repeat till half the player base is waiting.

I think its actually been taking longer on average to get into a game ever since autofill xD

You can do the math yourself.

Count how much time is "wasted" by people ditching matches over the course of a month (more months the better)

Then be sure to share how you define "wasted."

Then deliver your report to the boards for conversation.

Also support is fun, more people just need to realize that because there is a huge stigma in the community against the role.
