So it really is the influential or "victorious" champions which get the skin after all...

Season 1 - I wasn't around to know how effective Jarvan was and how.

Season 2 - Janna had a 55% win rate seemingly all year (at least at high Elo) and almost no one understood why. This changed (went to hell) the next season when they decided to give supports gold through items so they nerfed all true supports into oblivion and said defiantly that the role wouldn't be taken over by mages. The role was immediately taken over by mages until many more changes (nerfs to mages). To this day Rito pretend they were right... looking at you Morellolol.

Season 3 - Elise's kit had it all and she was a super popular jungler in both the LCS solo QQ until she was nerfed twice a day for a year. Now she's only ever successful in the LCS and you guys keep picking her in solo QQ even though you lose 60% of the time. You know it and the stats show it, stop it.

Season 4 - Morgana being popularized in pro play was what finally stopped the practical 100% pick/bans on Thresh/Braum/Annie in the LCS. Without Morgana around bottom lane picks would be a lot more stale not to mention annoying. So naturally they nerfed the living shit out of her in a way that ensured that she could never be picked mid lane again (base damage was annihilated and no scaling damage was added to compensate for mid). Good job, better nerf Irelia.

The point: By this list it really does seem like it's that season's "Victorious" champion which does get the Victorious skin.

There is a huge problem with this standard... that means a mid laner will never get a Victorious skin. Whenever a mid laner had become anywhere near that popular and/or successful in the past (relative to the other champions at the time) it was nerfed repeatedly either into near-zero pick rates awaiting a rework Soon™ (give me back my Diana damn it), or at the least nerfed enough that it wasn't pick/ban in competition if it previously was. And this has always been done well before the season ends.

Two supports and two junglers now. Laaaaame!

Don't you mean Thresh/Leona/Annie? Annie disappeared way before Braum was even released.

It doesn't matter that an obligated mid laner will likely never get a Victorious skin. Junglers and supports influence the game a lot more than most mages and marksman. They have access to opportunity and play-making abilities than other roles don't because other roles also need to focus on how much damage they can do, how much farm they have on their opponent etc. Morgana's CC is useful regardless of her damage or farm level so she's able to make plays more often from a support standpoint than as a mid mage because she can focus on her non-damage centric abliities. But she can still pull off mid lane if you wanted to use her there.

Influential characters getting the skin is fine, and fits with the idea behind the skin line. The only thing that's really upsetting you, from what I can tell, is that you're super strict in your placements of champions. J4 in solo lanes is pretty popular as well, but you consider him only a jungle. I've seen a Janna carry a losing team in ranked as a top laner with teleport. The fact that these champions tend to fall in to roles where their CC and play making potential is more valued than DPS is only a problem because you're allowing it to.

Morgana is staleness embodied as a champion. Talk about boring to fight.

Diana ;-;. Never forget.

I believe they intentionally pick a champion that made an impact competitively that season. Creates a bit of a link between a season in which you did well and the skin you earned from it.

Dominant champions are generally nerfed. Why is it a surprise that the dominant champion of a season(who usually gets the Victorious skin) will be nerfed most likely? I'm not saying they should nerf her--honestly her Q hitbox adjustment would have been a better, more reasonable nerf--but a lot of times, its needed. Janna was THE number 1 pick/ban IN EVERY PRO GAME at one point. Every. One. I'm not even exaggerating. No champion should be that much of a requirement. However, I would like it if they didn't nerf these dominant champions out of use completely. We at least still have Elise being picked frequently (she is still decent, no matter what you may think) so maybe the chain is somewhat broken.

Also, I don't want mages to be nerfed...we all know that won't fix the problem. They'll just look at the next mage, and then the next mage, until we're back to classic supports only and mid lane is dominated by assassins again. I don't want assassins to go away either, but I think the key here is variety.

JarvanIV , back then, was a dominate pick at all stages of the game at all levels of the game. He could go Bruiser, Tank, Assassin, and still be usefull. That said, you have to remember that in S1, the Meta golem was becoming king, being Sunfires, FoN, Atma's, Warmogs, Mercs, and Wriggles being king. You couldn't even TRY to build that today, the only item even remotely similar to itself is mercs, Sunfire was ramapant back then and early in S1 could be stacked, RIP FoN, Atma's got destroyed with nerfs, warmongs used to have a stacking mechanic for even more HP, Wriggles used to be the ONLY "jungle" item, but was so good that even top and some ADC's picked it up, as it had lifesteal and free wards on the cheap, not to mention flat ad and some armor.

Later in S1, he started receiving nerfs, but was still an excellent pick until they started nerfing him every single patch till people stopped playing him AND every 2 weeks a new champion with a dash was released. Still solid, but only thanks to a few buffs in more recent times.

I'd agree with you, but what's stopping Morgana from being an effcctive midlaner? I've seen some great mid Morganas this season.

Honestly. I feel that Rito should make two Victorious skins and have you be able to choose between the two. I mean, it's not like Jarvan, Janna, Elise or Morg appeal to EVERYBODY. I know how you feel, I main mid and I'm just waiting on that Victorious Cassiopeia lol but she isn't popular enough. I feel like a top laner or mid laner should definitely be next.

Yeah, or just give a skin to an ADC since you could play J4/Elise top (not optimal, but it kinda works, in elise's case it kinda worked, hell she even went mid a few times) Morg is a "mid" laner created from the days were stupid amounts of cc were staples of mid kits, annie, morg, anivia, etc. ADC is the only position that shares it's champion pool with zero other roles. You can play an adc in a handful of games in a different lane, that's not the same as J4's ability to be a top laner. ADC is the most mechanically intensive role, gets the least praise of the carry roles, and yet again is slighted with the victorious/championship skins (top has two championship skins) QQ rito. Why I learn such heard role with much a-clicking, kiting, and orb-walking just to have striker Lucian. I guess bc dumpstering bot lane is fun.
