the tank this game needs

Handy Sandy ··21 votes·1,740 views

-amount of health and defense to make them survive a 1v5 for a good amount of time

-extremely low damage that barely scales with AD or AP to stop damage builds

-at least 2 types of cc moves and a health regen/shield ability

and for some type of passive, it would be an active that makes like 80% of damage a turret takes transfer to him, with a long cooldown of course.

oh wtf i actually got upvotes lmao

I can imagine builds that deal damage based on targets total health and your own :p

CrimsonCobra31 votes

You just build Titanic and BoRK. Then you're set.

CrimsonCobra37 votes

This sounds a lot like Alistar. Excepting the passive of course.

With the ult nerfs even Alistar struggles to tank effectively until level 16 (good luck getting there).

Spaceman5pff2 votes

So true, and so sad.

Although, he is definitely fine after the nerf.

CrimsonCobra31 votes

I do agree that his ultimate at one point feels terrible right now. However, he doesn't need level 16, it's actually at level 11, when he gets his second point in his ultimate that it begins to feel good again. And that's about the mid-game, so I think he's fine.

Decided to accept the challenge and give it a go!:

Rook - The Last Bastion

Innate: Hold The Line

Passive: While Rook is within 500 range of a tower, both the tower and Rook will take 15% reduced damage. Active: Rook can target an allied tower within 500 range of him, melding him into the tower. He assumes control of the tower for up to 10 seconds, and can target any enemy within the tower's attack range. While commanding the tower, 20% of all incoming damage to the tower gets redirected towards Rook's health bar instead. If Rook is currently at, or falls below 5% health, he cannot command a tower and/or he is ejected from the tower.

Cooldown: 180 seconds (Not affected by Cooldown Reduction)

First Ability: Landslide

Active: Rook slams and rips up the ground in front of him, dealing 60/110/160/210/260 (+0.5 Attack Damage, 2.0/2.5/3.0/3.5/4.0% Rook's Maximum Health) physical damage to all enemies caught in the line skillshot. The ground under the skillshot becomes unstable for 6 seconds, slowing enemy's movement speed by 20/22/24/26/28% while they are on it.

Cooldown: 15/13.5/12/10.5/9 seconds. Mana Cost: 80/75/70/65/60 mana.

Second Ability: Stoneform

Passive: For every 25 armour Rook has, he gains 5/7.5/10/12.5/15% base health regeneration. For every 25 magic resist Rook has, he gains 5/7.5/10/12.5/15% base mana regeneration. Active: Rook turns his skin to stone, reducing incoming damage by 34/40/46/52/58% for 3.5 seconds and increasing incoming healing effectiveness by 12%. He cannot basic attack or cast spells during this time and moves 20% slower.

Cooldown: 24/23/22/21/20 seconds. Mana Cost: 50 at all ranks.

Third Ability: Seismic Roar

Active: Rook roars loudly, targetting the ground in a cone in front of him. The ground is ripped up and shredded, damaging and affecting enemies caught in the roar. Enemies within 200 range of the roar take 80/125/170/215/260 (+0.4 Attack Damage, 5% Rook's Maximum Health) physical damage and are knocked back to 250 range away from Rook. Enemies between 201 and 450 range of the roar take 60/100/140/180/220 (+0.25 Attack Damage, 3% Rook's Maximum Health) physical damage and are slowed by 50% for 1 second.

Cooldown: 15/14/13/12/11 seconds. **Mana Cost: 65 at all ranks.

Ultimate Ability: Unrelenting Fortress

Active: Rook's body becomes stone and moulds into a giant bounder. After a 0.5 second delay, Rook charges in a straight line as a boulder. Any enemies hit by Rook take 100/175/250 (+0.35/0.40/0.45 Attack Damage, +3/5/7% Rook's Maximum Health) physical damage and are knocked aside. After being knocked aside, enemies are stunned for 0.75 seconds. Rook will end the charge at the end of his maximum range or if he collides with a wall. As he rolls past, he leaves behind a trail of unstable ground that slows enemies on it by 20/24/28%.

Cooldown: 110/90/70 seconds. Mana Cost: 110/100/90 mana.

For some reason I seriously think this is related to Overwatch...

CrimsonCobra31 votes

And the damage is great. Especially for a tank.

lCantPauseltMom5 votes

Wait, a champion that has no damage, lots of CC, good tankability...

...Sounds suspiciously like just about every tank support thus far...

...Naaaah can't be, I'm sure I'm just imagining things.

Tbh blitz does a good amount of damage. Thresh does too, same with naut and Taric's E has a pretty good scailing. His passive basically helps him attack more..That's why Taric and thresh can be played effectively as a top lane bruiser or AP naut and blitz as a troll midlaner.

lCantPauseltMom2 votes

I wouldnt class Blitz under that has he doesn't have the same powerhouse crowd control of a Nautilus or a Leona. If you were building them like a traditional support (I hope), then they wont do much damage anyway.

... Well, unless you have a support Brand, Annie, or Vel'koz, in which case you just sold your [support] soul to Riot.

Warlord Zudane2 votes

Here's the problem: If you have a tank champ without much AD/AP of any sort then how does that champ win a lane? Are we limiting them to support only? Pretty much any champion can be played in multiple roles effectively (some less effective than others). If we make him a full on tank that ONLY absorbs damage, then he has no way to stop the enemy from pushing the lane against him repeatedly. If the tank champ was in a 1 on 1 he would lose. Yea, he could tank a ton of damage, but without being able to deal any damage the enemy has no reason to run away.

We already have some really tanky champs: Braum Alistar Rammus just to name 3 off the top of my head.

Handy Sandy 1 votes

It's not meant to win a lane like soraka or Janna aren't really able to win a lane by themselves. They are meant to tank and cc, Braum, Alistar, and Rammus already struggle to take damage from 5 other champions lategame at level 18, while this champion has more health than the average 3k health tank because of base stats to last way longer.

CrimsonCobra32 votes

The thing is, tanks aren't really supposed to 1v5. They are supposed to be able to survive, just long enough for their team to murder the enemies. That's why tanks dive in. They don't necessarily survive, they make the play, and hope their team follows up. If their team does, then they often stand a good chance of surviving. Asking for a tank that can take on the entire enemy team without dying is a little much. Even though we do already have Alistar and Rammus.

So in other words a completely useless champion? Everyone just ignores anything that has no threat or disruption.

statelesskiller2 votes

fuck it just make it so he has no scaling. ONLY base damages. and in exchange give him a built in cinderhulk for health armor AND magic resist. do it old tahm kench style to it where its a passive on his ult

NightmareAmazoX2 votes

Alistar DrMundo let them do a fusion.

TequilaZombie4 votes

Dr. Mulistar

Passive: Increased health regen, using abilties creates an AoE circle of fire to circle around him. Q: Throws a milk bottle at the target. If this hits a target it causes 20% of their current health as damage while knocking them up. W: Mulistar dashes to a target while gaining extra AD. E: Mulistar's next hit deals bonus damage and heals allies in an AoE scaling with his own max health. R: Dr. Mulistar gets 70% damage reduction, while regenerating 60% of his maximum health and gaining bonus mov speed and AD.

10/10 would play.

[zombie-brand-clap] @ChromaSpell There's the tank you want.

This would almost have to be a jungle champ because top lane is rough if you are melee and do little damage, unless you work with your jungler well.

Probably another support since the CC and tankiness. Can also protect the turret with it's passive when the ADC is gone, or roam to another lane and use it.

Dengeden1 votes

Horrible. Doesn't fix the issue of stacking base damages, would probably be a better Alistar or Malphite depending how much the base damage increases with level.

how about a new item or champion passive thats kindve like malphites.. where when hes hit his armor chips off into delayed explosive fragments.until the item is broken. but say the champion cant ulti unless its armor has been chipped off.. its either an item or champion passive.. just an idea.

"And for a passive, an active......"

I just thought that was funny. I know they exist, but still xD

You do realize itll never work right? Use that thinking cap. If your against a tank that can tank very well and yet do 0 dmg wtf you think your gonna do? Your not going to target him, your going to ignore him cause he does 0 damage and focus the rest of their team. Thats basically a 4v5, itd only work in low elo where people are too stupid to know that if a person does no dmg he isnt a threat.

CC is why he/she would be targeted.

God King Aatrox1 votes

it'd be great if it was like malphite/sion where depending on his/her armor/mr/health scales with abilities, and not AD/AP.

SteelMankind1 votes

Haven't played him in a while, but FULL tank Sion (even opting for Frozen Heart instead of IBG) after four items might as well be immortal. The shield is low CD and scales with his max health, which he will have a ton of being Sion. Since he gets so much health for free, you can focus on building resists for stronger shields. Good luck trying to kill 380 armor 200 Mr 700 hp shields that are up ever 6 seconds
