Syndra

People keep complaining about her because **professional **league of legends players are playing her while champions with high damage and massive amounts of utility like Orianna are walking around and a forgiving kit Ekko is still dominating top, mid, and jungle in a lot of games.

Anyway, she's a no skill champion... just no, she's a high skillcap champion. Let me actually tell you what Syndra is like as a mastery 7 Syndra main.

"Just press R to kill" While you think you can just press R to get a kill, it's not going to do that much damage. You see, it does damage per sphere, and the spheres going around her are the first 3. She can place the others with Q and W and blah blah blah. The max is 7 spheres, and of course it's going to do more damage than only 3 spheres in an ult. It's basically an execute move that you use at the end of your combo, since you'll have more spheres placed then. Such as Q + E + W + Q + R, now that's 5 spheres and will probably kill any squishy target with that FULL combo.

The long range stun. She has to Q first, and THEN E. Even if she's close to it and then E or far away and then uses her E, the sphere will still go the same distance. It's easy to sidestep, such as Zed's W+Q harass combo. Without her stun, don't be afraid to jump on her. She's squishy even if she's building Rylai's and Rod of Ages, I've been 100-0ed because I've missed my stun but still landed a Q + W + Q + R on most assassins and the assassin would have lived. Play aggressive when her stun is down if you want to get damage off on her. She's also immobile, like most mages, and is a big weakness for her. Throughout the game, don't make the mistake of stepping in front of a sphere because then she can just E you if she's in range and stun you.

"She has NO counterplay! Similar to Veigar, unless she's extremely ahead she isn't going to kill you without her stun. If she misses, then she's as good as dead. If you ARE stunned, she can't get off her whole combo, not even just her ult while you're stunned so getting off a Zhonya's right after you aren't stunned anymore will negate almost all of her damage. Avoid fighting her when you are less than 90% health, she's good at killing a single target, basically like a ranged assassin.

No, she isn't OP and she DOES have counterplay. Ugh these boards, making her look like the new Yasuo but she's immobile, squishy, and relies on her cc to hit her skillshots. She was just extremely underplayed and trash a while ago, but oh look someone brings her out in worlds and she's OP again! wtf? Agree with me or not, this is all true.

Syndra is obnoxious at all levels of play. She is sort of a similar opposite of veigar (early game bully instead of late game), but equally annoying.

I have noticed a rise in her usage in the last few months, is this just nubs copying pro play?

DJMason882 votes

Yep. As a Syn main i get tilted when i see a syn player trying to copy the pros. Unless they are actually trying to learn her, of course.

syndra is insanely good because of her low counterplay r and e. regardless of whether she takes skill or not, it's not hard to get a whole bunch of balls and press r on the carry, with an e thrown in there somewhere.

E has a bunch of counterplay, just sidestep it. Think of it like this: You want to be near syndra during her ult as a squishy just as much as you'd like being in the middle of Illaoi's ult. Now, what do you do as a squishy that keeps fighting during her ult? You die. What happens if you run right as the animation for it starts? You survive. Her ult alone isn't going to kill you, not even a 7 sphere one, and your team should focus her if she tries to dive for your carry. When you run, then she must come closer to you. If she comes closer to you, then she's in range for your team.

I agree with some of this but the R paragraph is pretty much bs. Rank one has 90 damage per sphere, and any good Syndra player can easily rack up sphere's to the point where it is doing over 500 dmg at rank one, which is very problematic for a lot of midlaners since it is targeted.

Succubús GF2 votes

She is the number one burst power spike champ in mid lane currently. but the chances of you getting all 7 isnt really plausible because the timers are very tricky. At best one would usually get around 5-6 Which is 450-540 (plus ap amount) but that isnt factoring in resistances. If you let syndra hit you with everything she has, you have nobody to blame except for yourself ^.^

Ahri, who is second most popular for mid lane behind Syndra, has around 1,000 HP at level 6. I'm not saying Syndra is OP, but it is frustrating to a lot of mid laners that she has access to a little over a minute and a half cd point and click ability that takes out half their health.

After she takes off your health, it's incredibly hard to actually kill someone if she doesn't have her ult for it which is why you use it for an execute instead of something to START a combo. Will be used to start in certain situations but those are rare.

Succubús GF2 votes

It is meant as an execute. Also syndra vs. ahri is an extreme skill match up in which ahri actually has leverage over because she can dodge about every one of those skill shots. 1000 hp, assuming she ate q,e,w,q,r wiuth ignite. if she ate all that, she deserved it lets be fair here

Handy Sandy 1 votes

I've done Syndra vs Ahri a good amount of times, none of them even TRY to dodge my stun with their ult. Other skill matchups for Syndra...pretty much all of them except Ryze since the heavy range gap, but Annie usually wins in a straight 1v1 if she has flash so I added her despite her range.

Annie AurelionSol Brand Anivia Leblanc Lux Lux Lux Lux Orianna Veigar Velkoz Vladimir Viktor Zed I left out champions like Karthus or Cassiopeia because being DPS champions they don't deliver their damage fast enough to kill her before she kills them.

Xosra1 votes

I remember when i faced Syndra with Ahri. It was so painfull cause i kept failing to dodge the point blanks qe, but that was my own fault cause being a Syndra mid main i figured hey i will be able to win. I think Ahri can hae trouble with Syndra cause her damage is slighty slower in burst and so once syndra is out of the E charms she can burs them back. Getting beat by your main champ is so demoralizing. Also yeah i knew these qq threads would pop up on our main as soon as she was at worlds. She is not op she is just consistent which is a thing pro value. There are a ton of op champ pro don't like cause they are not consistent enough like say yasuo.

Still it's not like she's going to kill you with a 5 sphere ult, you can still sidestep the incoming stun while the spheres hit you, just know how short her E range actually is. She'll have to flash to stun you if you start running away right when the animation for it appears.

syndra has a winrate of 49.7 in bronze and it increase to 49.9 in challenger i havent looked at all the other champs but im pretty sure that is the smallest different between bronze-challenger winrate in the game as well as the closest to 50 % on every elo of any champ in the game

plus a ban rate that donest reach 4% in any elo

aka she is probably the most balanced champ in the entire game right now...

because of the 11 percent playrate. nobody ever played syndra before

to compare. riven got a massive. ult buff. that buff. was massive if you have a brain and look at the numbers.

however. her winrate went down to 49% when she got buffed because her playrate tripled.

few patches ago syndra playrate was around 1-2%.

I'm sorry. but. the unnecessary. periods tilted me. What were. you saying again?

blablablablablabla

Xosra1 votes

Yeah was she highest playrate last patch or did she just pop up to that this patch cause i could swear that wasn't the case before.

Shifune1 votes

Sorry, but you have no idea what you are talking about.

Syndra's winrate has been below 50% for basically every patch even before her pick rate went up. Her winrate has only gone over 50% 5 times in the past 20 patches.

Also, her pick rate hasn't been lower than 2% is the last 20 patches. Don't know where you getting all these fake numbers from.

So no, Syndra's bad winrate isn't because of her high playrate at the moment. Her winrate has practically always been negative.

Not only that, even with 125+ games, she barely scrapes a 54% winrate. If this is what's considered broken and low counterplay, then majority of champions should nerfed for no reason as well.

Pretty sure she was considered op before worlds already tho Let me post https://embed.gyazo.com/c0d52fa25882f35154c44e99739e2351.gif again lul

What a set-up by that Syndra!! A whole lot of 4 balls? Wow, that's one more than usual, what an outplay.

Xosra2 votes

His health was already at 2/3 then she hit him with a q so she did not just ult him. Also jayce likely had no mr so it is her job to burst ppl like him when they are low.

Mazariamonti3 votes

Solution - make r a skill shot - but, but, but, double the damage of each sphere.

There, problem solved.

Jk, I think she's fine.

Although I slightly disagree with your point on Orianna, You're right about a lot regarding Syndra though.

Although I slightly disagree with your point on Orianna, You're right about a lot regarding Syndra though.

The reason why I put Orianna in is because of her complete control of a lot of teamfights with her AOE burst, wavelear, zoning, early game damage (because of her passive) and her utility (ult, w, and e) while being able to 100-0 targets with a Q W R, judging from what people on the boards thing OP is, she would seem like it.

The only thing I don't like is how her E stops all dashes and it can be used reactionally like yasuo's windwall.

the rest of her is fine.

The only thing I don't like is how her E stops all dashes and it can be used reactionally like yasuo's windwall.

the rest of her is fine.

So does anivia's wall, azir's ult, veigar's stun, and other knockups or roots.

The Deckowner2 votes

anivia's wall only works in very specific situations, and it is super hard to time.

Azir's ult is a ult.

veigar's stun has a long delay.

roots does not stop dashes.

the thing is syndra's e is basically instant cast with no delay, it not only stops dashes but also stun the enemu and pushes them away to a safe distance for her.

Then how do you want a Syndra to get away from someone like yi who is in your face attacking you. She either qe him which can take a sec too long or just e him and run away. He still might catch her unless she has rylais to q slow him.

It's really hard to dodge her stun as it is almost insta. All of her spells are really hard to dodge unless you are on the edge of range. She has incredible burst damage, no casting time, stun, good range, poke, throw back, easy snowball, easy to hit spells and she is not squishy compering to other mid laners so Yes, she doesn't require skill and is somehow op and I have Been telling that long before Worlds.
