Riven Jungle : Is it doable?

I like seeing champions being played outside their 'expected' roles. Like Soraka top, Leona Jungle, Gragas Support, hell I have even seen quite a few successful J4 supports.

I was wondering if Riven could jungle. She has no mana so she could give away every blue to her mid lane, she has a gap closer + knock up + stun for ganks and a shield for dives. She has pretty decent damage so I imagine her jungle clear would be a pretty decent one. I have never once seen a Riven jungle and am very tempted to try it but don't want to cripple my team by doing so.

Does anyone know if she can jungle? Strengths/weaknesses? Why or why not?

Everything is doable...... but on the other hand, not everything is viable.

If you haven't already tried this I'd be willing to friend you so we can jump in team builder and try whatever. A couple things I'd like to try are things like Lee Sin mid, Urgot top, and Anivia top (Thanks for the idea Hyrum)

I've never done it, but I've seen it done. I seem to remember the person did well. Take from that what you will.

I'd do Riven in the jungle...

or on a couch, bed, mid lane, table, back seat, bot lane, front seat, top lane, armchair, desert, tundra, underwater, during a movie, in a closet...

Doable yes, but this is also coming from a guy who regularly goes Lissandra Jungle.

The strengths is she has great gank potential and a decent teamfight presence. Her ult's low cooldown also means popping it for an early solo dragon can be a good decision.

The main reason why it isn't a common choice is two-fold.

Her gap closer isn't instant or large. While you can work around this, it's simply less advantageous than, say, Pantheon' jump or Kha leap.
The main reason this is hard to pull off is her initial clear. It's awful. Not speed wise that much, she lands average in that, but her health takes a major hit while doing mobs. This leaves her very open to counter jungling and make the first ganks hard to do without giving up a kill.

Also, as an annoying thing her 3rd Q knock up has a nasty tendancy to de-aggro a mob for 1/2 a second which sometimes means a crippling initial clear.

Overall, I would say just try it out. You can play anyone anywhere if you play it right, as long as it's not ranked if you're giving it a legitimate attempt then it's all good in my book.
