Nunu is a perfect example of why people bitch about the Balance Team

Balance goes from useless to absolutely absurd in one patch. It feels like this stuff is never actually tested for balance before it goes live. And if he is nerfed it will be a nerf to make him useless again or a nerf to something that isn't even the issue.

It seems like their approach to balance is 'make something op and then tone it down' rather than 'let's do small buffs until it is at a healthy state' and that is insanely stupid. In the case of Nunu if they had buffed him with half or a quarter of the steroids he offers now he wouldn't be broken and people wouldn't be bitching. People would see that he is at least getting some attention. Instead he is buffed to the point he is pick/ban and is miserable to play against so people bitch.

Hey, Balance Team... you don't need to always shoot for 100% pick/ban when messing with champions. Work your way up to where you want them to be. Don't shove them to the top and then knock them down. That is frustrating and unfun and in case it wasn't clear... video games are meant to be fun.

Well it seems like they've been more willing to sacrifice immediate balance for interesting gameplay - someone like Nunu, or Swain, or Galio, they'd rather give them something ridiculous to make them interesting and then tune the rest of the kit around it instead of leaving a kit boring and tweaking numbers until it's 50% winrate.

And if the change causes problems, they totally are willing to revert after fiddling with the details a bit to try to get it right - Vayne Q critting, for example.

It makes the game balance more volatile, for sure, but I prefer this to "Don't touch the kit, you might break it! Just add or subtract 5 to/from some number, check the winrate, and repeat."

riot has stated that pbe is not for balance testing.. its for bug testing and because of this they don't take in our our balance feedback even when we give it to them

because they have their own "internal" balance testers. before it gets put on pbe. because those people do such good job..

I think that being able to hotfix their mess is part of the problem. They risk more because they can correct it whenever they want to.

Generally things arent actually as good as people think they are.

Very few champs benefit from both AP/AS
Nunu doesnt benefit much from the AP unless building AP himself, which is suboptimal

Really, these buffs arent as powerful as people seem to think they are. Its really just letting nunu support AP champs as well as just AS champs, which also opens up AP bot with nunu support. You know, breaking up the meta a bit. The thing people have been crying for.

I feel like these buffs were somewhat of a step in the right direction People can now take Nunu support, and work along with an AP champion and buff their AP amount Although these changes are a little too much, it shows that this is possible

The funny thing is, people started sensing something was wrong during the Season 5 Pre-Season. Their current philosophy went into action and slowly started messing with the game in illogical ways.

It is a bit early to pass judgement on the NUNU change. Overall it doesn't seem that bad.

They do test it! That's why they have PBE, they release it on PBE, and they if it's bugged they fix it. If it has a 100% winrate with a 100% pay rate on him, they still release it onto the servers and will only nerf him at the next patch. PBE isn't used to try out balance, it's only used to correct technical problems.
