New Pings.

I think Riot should release some new pings with the new summoners rift update. I think they should Issue "Thank you, ____ Bush Warded, Ultimate ready in and maybe an enemy Jungler last seen ______" Maybe it could look a bit like this image I found on Google. Image Source

This is just an example of what riot could add, not saying they should add it in this fashion just saying they could use something related to this or just divide it into a whole other wheel. Maybe they could take up the middle circle for the Warded ping, This ping would reduce the waste of red trinkets and it would save our junglers time.

I think one of the most distracting things in the game is the chat bar. Sometimes you get the players that are either super toxic or they talk about the game waaaaay too much. I don't know if this is just me or not, the chat bar has killed me a couple of times. Its not that big of a deal but some more in depth or better pings could reduce this. (Though team chat is great I feel we could have more communication with some more pings.)

At this point, I only want the "Warded Ping" The best thing I've ever come up with .-.

the warded ping is a very good idea

I like the idea of a few more smart ping options (warded especially would be useful), but I'd be worried that increasing the radial options from 4 to 8 would actually result in a lot more mis-pings than we currently have.

That said, it doesn't seem like an unsolvable issue, and there are definitely ways to improve the smart ping system. Might end up replacing redundant/underused pings or finding another good keybinding for any additional pings that would be useful. Thanks for the suggestion/feedback. This is not a promise (as I don't work on the smart ping system personally) but i'll bring this to the attention of the people that do.

I also think we need more pings, but not so many pings packed in one circle. Pings should be divided into two: ones are under 'cntrl' pings, the other are under 'alt' pings. I mean, in a glance, i find it difficult to precisely move my mouse exactly to the ping tht i want to, but we share the same pings in cntrl and alt. Making things simeple as possible should be applied.

Thats a great idea, especially now that many people get chat banned. With the current chat restriction,RIOT is punishing the whole team, the communication is low.

With this pings, people banned from chat cant add negative aditude to the team, but can still add their share to the teams communication.

PEOPLE BUMB THIS!WE NEED THOSE PINGS NOW MORE THEN EVER!

I like the idea of the warded ping a lot, and I understand the general intent behind this. However, I think it is too much information and it would be in and of itself very distracting. Too many different angles to select when you go to ping. 4 corners is extremely easy to pickup and learn. It's also really fast, and hard to make a mistake with. I think even adding a 5th ping would make it a lot more complicated that it is worth.

Just my opinion though. I do think the discussion is important though so I am up-voting you anyways.

I've seen this before, and I remember what a Rioter said about this. They said while it is a good idea, they probably wouldn't implement it, for a good reason. They said that including so much pings like that would make the ping menu clunky and hard to use, and that would take away the clarity (they love that word) of the ping menu. I do think that maybe if they only added the warded ping it would work out, because that ping is the most important of the suggested ideas.

Wow, I want these so much, as a slow typer in game, these would be so good for me.

Things like allies summoner should just be visible the way it is in spectator mode. Ultimates should have a timer next to the summoner the way curse voice used to do it.

Turkstyx7/26/2014, 10:33:08 PM2 votes

It's a good idea, but I think in it's current state as shown it's too much info and too cluttered. The pings are 4 directions as they are in order to be forgiving to fast mouse movements, when you add more outlets and more options, it becomes too cluttered and too easy to create mistakes.

I like the idea of the warded ping for sure, and maybe for ults they could perhaps add the friendly ult timers like they were originally going to with curse voice? I mean, they put in the jungle timers, and other mobas (namely Dota) have that feature as well. Doesn't seem like it would take anything away from the gameplay imo

Warded for sure

Great idea i especially love the warded and enemy ult down gotta keep those!

I think the "ultimate up" is rather useless. People can just check if there's a green light next to the sidebar champion icon. Not everyone knows this, but everyone that's played for a couple time should...

But I think Ward and Enemy Escape Down are REALLY good pings that should be implemented. :)

A "thank you" ping would be really good for the community, if you could target allies it could say "your name" thanks "target's name". This is a social game after all and since typing thank is often not viable this could help people be more friendly in matches. Plus, if you make it a hotkey option rather than in the wheel people can put it in some mostly unused key and if you don't like it don't use it.

I like the warded ping idea a lot too, the ult one is meh but if you could ping an enemy to say "their champion's name flash is down" that IS pretty useful during laning phase specially for the jungler to know where to gank.

Stitchless7/28/2014, 10:10:44 PM1 votes

warded ping is just about the only thing I would agree on. The rest are not always as useful to the rest of the team as often.

Syvenon7/28/2014, 10:13:45 PM1 votes

Well there are already the green dots to tell you when an ult is up, and mana is right there, you just have to check. I think having too many pings would become difficult to use, not to mention how daunting that would be for new players. You hit g and all of a sudden this wheel with 8 options and sub-options pops up. It would be really hard to get used to.

I love the warded ping most of all... ult in xx and enemy ult and escape... that's what the yellow GTFO ping is for... item 3340

Peace Out7/28/2014, 5:11:34 AM1 votes

Just make it so when you hold the "G" key down and drag you get one set of pings, and then with the "V" key you get another set.

Gift3dAzzazzin7/28/2014, 5:26:44 AM1 votes

Umm....Replace Enemy Escape Down with Group Up....SO That teams will work together a bit more

ShardWintreswolf7/28/2014, 5:45:06 AM1 votes

I'd say having a "ward here"/"warded" pings would be extremely useful, the ult up/down don't seem very needed though, especially with champs that have very low cd on their ults. Escape down can be used for more than just summoner spells and can become easily misinterpreted from game to game. Plus it ends up getting rather cluttered with that many icons.

Hikkupz7/28/2014, 6:41:55 AM1 votes

Great idea!

I want a "Thanks" ping.

Phoneixflare7/28/2014, 8:23:39 AM1 votes

I think it's pretty in favor of adding more communication options without needed to waste time to type out things in chat... also I feel like this also means less opportunities for people to go 'that brush was warded you dumbutt' or anything along those lines of toxic abuse.

Brahadir7/28/2014, 9:35:29 AM1 votes

I think Riot should keep the Ping system easy. However, I think they should remove the "danger" one and put the "Warded" one instead. From a personal experience, a LOT of the current player base uses the V ping instead of the Danger ping to mark threats (aka the "Stay away from here" ping). Both commands "Stay away" and "Danger zone" seem pretty similar to me. I believe I personally haven't used the Danger ping like, ever, while I have used all the others in many different situations.

Why do we have no "warded" ping and we still have two "Danger" or "stay away" pings?? A lot of the community uses a random ping to sign that there's a ward (Because the timer appears in the chat) and then immediately says "warded" to clarify the ping's because of a ward. So why not give it a "Warded" ping already?

TL;DR: We have no ping for wards and two pings for "danger" and close to nobody uses both. Why not remove one "Danger" ping and put one "Warded" ping instead?

I think these could even be associated with the "G" and "V" ping default keys for example. On the normal ping you'd have the normal stuff that's easy for newcomers to the game to understand. And on the retreat ping, you could add the "Ward here" or "Warded" smart ping system and other more complex stuff.

3mptylord7/28/2014, 2:43:16 PM1 votes

The "ult up in" could easily be replaced by improving the UI to display ultimate cooldowns (similar to the Spectator UI). Then, fuse the Danger+Retreat pings into a single ping and reuse the former Retreat Ping button for Warded ([V], if I remember correctly). By doing both of those you reduce the number of pings on the dial to 6, which I think is more reasonable.

Also, I think the Warded ping should last for 30 seconds (up to 3 per player) - so you can place a little beacon of warning on the map for a longer period of time.
