Hey there! My summoner is Fancy Wolf and I am a top tier Dominion player (let the laughing commence).

Im here to tell you guys about how to check your Dominion Elo/MMR, since our old method of using Jabebot was killed by that damn purple yordle. I will also be here to shed some light on higher Elo play in dominion and why its so exhilarating.

First off for those interested, your Dominion MMR checker as seen here http://i.imgur.com/F9KV5k6.png Will show you your teams current MMR average/The games average. Now this number will fluctuate alot and it is important to test this as a solo queue(er?). You will have to take the average across multiple games to find whereabouts your true MMR. For example across 50 games my MMR is around 2k, since most of my games average at 2k-2.1k MMR.

Here are the steps to checking your Dominion MMR!

Go to http://quickfind.kassad.in/
Type in your summoner name while you are loading into a solo Queue game (on dominion of course)
It will show you the games average MMR and tell you if you are in High Elo land or "its just Dominion" land.

And thats all there is to it, now if you want to learn more about dominion/ want to get better at it, I will be posting some guides from the dominion community for you to browse through as well as explain some cool things you may or may have not known about dominion.

So for those of you interested in actually learning about Dominion, first you should join the Chatroom in the League of Legends client named "DominateDominion". This is where all the top Dominion players/lovers hang out and chat about strats, builds, ideas, or advice. EDIT: this is on the NA server.. sadly the EUW scene for dominion kinda died out :/

Now for some Fun Dominion Facts!!! Did you know:

That over 80% of the champion roster is viable in Dominion, and Aatrox, Gangplank, and Thresh are the 3 worst champions on the map.
Teams that all take revive win 95% more over teams that dont
SUPPORTS GET GOLD AND CAN BUILD ITEMS!!!!
There is no laning phase unless your botlane, because the map gives you enough gold and gold gain to get right into the action with nonstop skirmishes and dueling. So there is also no need to farm creeps 24/7
It is a big misconception that Revive=Rewards you for dying, when in fact Revive prevents the game from snowballing. If you dont take revive you will end up getting 5 capped more and could cost your team the game.
Penetration and CDR are the two most important stats to build on Dominion.
Did I mention supports get gold and can build items?
Hextech sweeper and Grez's spectral lantern is rarley used in lower elo, but bought by almost every player in high elo.
Dominion's Highest Elo Player is Sauron with a record high Elo of 2800+ and his Q times would be over 2+ hours long.
A Diamond/Challenger SR team has yet to beat a top Dominion team.
Dominions bracket range for borders(if we had any) would be alot smaller than SR. Currently the estimated top 50 players range from 2200-2800 MMR.
Dominions best team "Clueless" Won the Curse/LoLpro tournament, then did an exhibition match vs Crs Academy and completely stomped them.
"Pays Evelynn's Child Support"(PECS) Holds the record for holding 1st place the longest with 17 weeks of victories. They were de-throned by Cheese Enematic with a back-cap Shaco strat.
Every Type of champion is viable on Dominion. Mages, Bruisers, Supports, Assasins, and ADC's.
AD carrys are actually the most difficult to play on Dominion but a few top level players have made them feared. Bebepop's Vayne, or TAEU's Ezreal.
With the recent Alternate Map balance that Riot has implemented, Many of the once broken and overpowered champions have been brought into line. Now most champions are manageable if you have the knowledge of how to beat them.
Draft Dominion died when riot bugged a patch to not give a dodge penalty, when they finally fixed it everyone had left Draft.
Resident best support in Dominion "Mad Suppordle" AKA "Zimike" is undefeated with Lulu in competitive play.
Before alternate map balance Kassadin was banned 100% of the time in high level games. With his most recent nerf he has slipped through twice and lost both games.
The mastery Safeguard Reduces tower damage by 10% on Dominion instead of 5% on SR.
To make up for the lack of draft, DD players will host inhouses and play the game like its a tournament match, but less intense and more for fun.
In low Elo games it is very common for players to push the lane to the tower in attempts to take it (SR mentality). Yet in Higher Elo or top level tourney games, most of the combat happens in the jungle with the point being an afterthought for when map control is established.

I used to come back to dominion for a few days every month and really play the hell out of it for a few days. But with the season ending soon, and the new ARAM map that gives IP, I'm pretty busy on the other maps.

It is, however, nice to see that the Dom community is still incredibly devoted, friendly, and fun. Kudos to OP.

Edit: also if you're inclined, you should make a different post about ranked dominion. That would make me much more likely to play. I'm (hoping) thinking that map specific balance is a step toward that end?

One can hope. I know a lot of Dominion players hope to have ranked Dominion some day. Quite a few believe it would help increase the player base as well since it could in theory drum up more interest.

I've always found it odd how in a lot of games capture the flag, and king of the hill modes have always been quite popular but Dominion with a similar play style sort of falls through the cracks when it comes to this trend.

Anywho, here's hoping for Solo, and Team ranked Dominion some where down the road.

If only there were a sub community link for other the game modes, ARAM, Dominion, and Twisted Treeline could all get their own areas. It wouldn't be any worse than the current regular forum system.

I still think it would be awful. I hate reddit's style of doing things, and the reason why it works is not because of its format. You can't just copy another successful model and assume it will work for you. This format caters to the casual user who just want to brush over topics, not people who actually wish to discuss things, even with people saying things the sheeple just downvote.

I'm honestly questioning this.

I've seen the likes of Tryndamere (champion) QQ threads turn from jokes to seriously credible on GD when a few sufficiently skilled players post them and post good reasoning.

And the post I had made was a quote of an attempt to demonstrate the League community wasn't as bad as you might think. I admit that it was poorly chosen.

However: the "sheeple" have no more power here than they did on the old GD (where downvotes could get your thread closed) and you can still find good posts at various places within the thread.

The format issue is not exclusive to Reddit; GD has the issue of circlejerking and petty downvoting too (and as far as I know has it worse.)

Mixing Dom and SR subforums is asking for ridiculous confusion. We go into it a lot more on the Dom forums, Sakuri has a good post as to why. Once this thing gets going, mass downvotes from SR players to anything Dominion is something that will happen.

The mods already are terrible with moving Dom threads to Dominion sub-forums if they simply mention the word Dominion, even if its addressed to the community as a whole.

Just for example, a thread which was "Why did you stop playing Dominion?" was moved to Dom sub-forums. Best moderators ever.

Wow, amazingly long but interesting post. Those fun facts are really great, good job.

Sadly you're speaking of a game mode I don't play, I don't like (never did actually) and has weird items and balance that confuse me so I chose not to play it anymore not to be confused about what to buy/how to build when I'm back in the summoner rift.

If you are confused by Dominion, you can join the in-client DominateDominion chat channel. there are typically 50-150 people hanging out in there who can answer questions and give you some advice. There is also a dominion section of the regular forums where you can ask questions, and get linked to beginner (and advanced) Dominion strategy guides: all written by some of the top dominion players. Additionally, some top Dominion players have a mentor-ship program, and would be happy to queue with you and give you specific advice and feedback.

It's also important to remember that no outside system will give you an accurate MMR count. These are estimates based on your games played and your other standing. In some cases it may come pretty close to being right, in others it may be pretty far from being right.

Kassad.in uses (edit) Riot's own MMR calculation. It's an internal, not an external number. The only variation is that your team's avg MMR doesn't tell you your person MMR, so any guessing is based on pulling up the site dozens or hundreds of times and looking at what MMR ranges your games are played in.

The client has no internal MMR calculation, that information is stored separately with Riot for Matchmaker and does not get reported through the client.

It's still possible to guess with some fair amount of accuracy (when looking at large number of games), but it's always an estimate and can be drastically wrong when influenced by other factors (small number of games, premades, large changes in MMR, large MMR differences between queue types, etc.)

When comparing some of the top players Elo from when jabebot was around to using quickfind, the numbers were relatively close, about 100-200 off because its team average. But within the ballpark of what it used to be.

... you are correct in that the client doesn't do MMR. my mistake. Nonetheless: Kassad.in takes the MMR information from Riot's servers, it reads the actual MMR Riot is using to determine matchmaking. Thus , like jabebot and lolmatches before the lulu patch, it is not guessing, it is actually reporting with 100% accuracy the MMR of the game.

Actually yes they have. some of the top dominion guys will go into premade 5v5's for funsies or season rewards and they have met up with diamond players and won. Also worth noting that alot of top dom guys are also Diamond/Challenger in 3's.

I'm sure we'd love to see you in some games. There's some times inhouses run from the in game chat channel DominateDominion I'm sure you'd be welcomed to join and given tips on itemization skill orders etc. there I believe is also a new initiative run by Sakuri Ono for weekly casted dominion inhouses where we attempt to balance teams. These are first come first serve no experience necessary games that any one can join. You can I believe find the full article right here on the first page of the new community page.

Feel free to stop in and enjoy some dominion.

100% of the roster is viable except thresh (provided you don't troll the team comp son) This is only because he is a support with terrrible CD plus a suicidal passive) but idk what possessed you to think gp or aatrox is bad. I still manage to pull off a couple wins with thresh though lolz ...but then again I probably got lucky and didn't run into any YIs or LEEs lulz

Play aatrox or GP at 2k+ elo when people know how to play Dominion. You will very quickly change your mind.
