Can we lower the disable time when the frozen pick kills a minion?

Because it is immensely irritating to be much weaker for 12 seconds because I'm Sona and can't really control where both of my Q shots go to. Or maybe you just need to change Sona or something? I was at 3 charges and still had to wait because one of my Q bolts killed a minion before the other one hit an opponent.

I think the point of that item is, it gives you more gold... as long as you don't kill minions. Simple solution, don't kill minions. Complication, I play Sona.

Solution I: go with a different gold income item. Bit of a cop-out as an answer, but if you want a steady, guaranteed income of gold, maybe item 3301 is more your speed.

Solution II: What Letler said. Just watch the minions and avoid Q'ing when low minions are near.

And if you still have problems with dying minions, rush item 3092 . The passive doesn't get deactivated if you kill a minion if you have that.

That gold income build path is intentionally risky because it has the potential to earn you made money as well as deal a good amount of bonus damage.

If you are playing Sona try not to use it when a nearby minion is so low on health you could kill it?

I know it's supposed to be risky, but I expected it to be risky because it opens me up to attack, not because I can't control where some of my damage goes.

And that's easier said than done, considering that she has kinda short range on her spells and I can't exactly stand in the minion wave to harass.

It's both.

Most poke supports are poking with some kind of ability that could accidentally snag them a minion and/or they are auto attacking at not the greatest range. The benefit is of course doing damage and making gold.

Think about champions like Janna, Karma, Zyra, Lulu, and Annie. They bring a lot of utility and damage, some more than others. If the item had no cooldown or a short one there would be no reason to not just spam your ability all day, poking, getting free damage, and lots of gold. It would get oppressive for the enemy and less impactful for the player, you. The extra damage from the item is best felt on turrets and during your all ins. If you ult, attack and Q and happen to kill a minion you either got 2/3 of your bonus damage or all of it.

More damage when its time for plays More risk when its more passive/harassing/farming.

The issue is that not just Sona, but pretty much every poke/harass heavy support has at least one damage dealing spell that can be really awkward if you have to carefully avoid hitting minions with.

This makes the item feel very awkward for the champions it's meant to be picked on.

Before I was okay with it, since the gp from killing the minion roughly made up for the harass gp you lost out on, but now your damage goes down as well and that feels really awkward.

You lose 30 damage. The bonus damage is nice but its not like make or break. Plus if you kill a minion you get more gold than you would bonus gold from the champion. To me, the risk/reward seems fair.

I'm not trying to say it's unfair, it just feels very awkward gameplay-wise.

I would just rush the item as fast as possible. With the trinket system you can afford to delay the sightstone should you go that route, and as sona in particular you can put off boots.

Previously I wouldn't recommend this but the 10% cdr goes a long way to not gimping you, and it pays out dividends in the long term.
