So, Riot wants ranked to be a team experience...

And then you prevent diamond+ players from queueing as five?

Like, I get your reasoning here, Riot. Diamond+ have dumb queue times, and it's really unfair to have a bunch of master+ friends have to face a professional team in ranked, and and it's a minority of the playerbase...

But seriously, if you're going to make the ranked experience be focused on teamplay and communication for most of the ladder, having that change when you hit diamond is kind of dumb.

At the top of the ladder... where competition is fiercest and teamwork mandatory for the highest caliber of gameplay which we here at Riot want to promote, teams are now only allowed to queue with up to a 3-man premade.

Wut?

Well, umm, isn't obvious by now that Riot is kind of dumb?

So not only they show middle finger to solo players, but also to high level 5-man teams (their future LCS material). Means, the target audience is 2-3 man premade casuals, also smurfs boosting their 1-2 low elo "friends" to gold for dem season rewards in a 5-man premade.

Thank you, among all the ragers and trolls, finally, a valid critic! So, well, take a +1 just for not being an A-hole and using basic logic, that's how desperate I am right now.

That being said, I'll play Devil's Advocate here. Riot was probly not happy about this decision. They must've seen the problem just as well as yourself. Thing is, great principles are nice and all, but you need to be pragmatic. If Daimond+ cannot play (or not in the right conditions), you need a solution, even if it means compromising with your philosophy.

The issue was that premade 5's were going against premade 1-3's at a rate of 1 per 250 games in Diamond, and 1 per 25 games in Master. This is compared to the 1 per 1000 games it happens to Plat and below (this is slightly higher for plat). The queue times factor in because to always match premade 5's with premade 5's (or at least with accuracy it has in lower elo's) it would kill the queue times even more.

It is simple, the system ia flawed as fuck, and the flaw gets more serious and has a bigger impact once it reaches higher elo, to the point that even with how biased rito is toward DQ they can't keep it up any more and has to take it down.

they are acting as if the problem doesn't exist in lower ranks, except high elo is just a miniature of rest of the elos.

Well they did mention they'd like to set up a 5v5 queue during peak hours but that would be an insured 5 premade vs 5 premade without the scary thought of five solos up against SKT.

What riot want is casual premades, they are the most likely to $$$ for skin/champs/stuff

Right now, a full lobby of Diamond ranked players are not allowed?

Did you even watch the video? They stated they don't like the idea either, but SOMETHING has to give to fix the queue time problem at high MMR. They aren't willing to significantly sacrifice queue times or match quality. The last point they could force some give on was position selection. Queuing as 4/5 gave you a much higher chance of either getting your role, or a teammate getting it and trading it to you. So between the Queue limit and forced autofill after a duration, they have had to make some concessions with their goals in order to provide a better experience for the players.

Its a band-aid solution to solve the queue time issues while they invent a real solution to the problems of ranked.

I'm more annoyed that they removed ranked 5v5. They Want team based ranked play, and then remove dedicated team based ranked from the game. Fucking ridiculous.

Spacesuit Spiff6/1/2016, 6:25:45 AM1 votes

I guess theyre worried about the competitiveness of high elo. Theyre focusing on making low elo more fun because its definitionally never gonna be competitive (low elo = people who dont play at a high level).

Yes yes the boards hate premades but im willing to bet there are more people who like bringing their friends to ranked and since low elo is a clownfest anyway, let them have their fun.

Lol, so it's not only low elo that's gotta suffer.

I'm fine with this.
