I think you're sacrificing readability for motion in your art.

Or, to put it more simply, in an attempt to make your splashes look cool, you make it so it takes me a couple of seconds to figure out what the hell I'm looking at. Kat's art is the most obvious, but most of the new default splashes have this problem. I know, I know, it's supposed to look action-y and dramatic, but it really just seems sloppy and just not thought out very well. You're trying to sell people on your champions with splash art; it doesn't make much sense to have to make someone look at the splash for a couple of seconds before they can figure out what's even going on. 'Is that her knee? What the hell is going on with her legs? Is this some sort of assassin? I'm confused.'

Well, Azir and Rek'Sai are both pretty recent splashes, and they're "readable". I think more new splashes should be made in that vein.

The new Kat splash just...I don't know. It's dynamic solely for the sake of being more dynamic than her previous one.

With so much focus on action poses (or whatever the term), you'd think they'd want the actions to make sense.

i would prefer a portait in 3D of how the champion actually look in game

I think the Kat is too much. There's WAY too much emphasis on depth and foreground, and it seriously ruins the image; that and the awful stretched look of her face; both her and the Tristana that's been bouncing back and forth on the PBE are areas where Riot has SERIOUSLY dropped the ball when it comes to splash art. They need to stop this mess with the hyper-cartoony super exolosions and move back into the smoky realistic art style like is on Garen and Ashe. Hell, even some of the other newer looks have been great, like the cop Trundle/Volibear, thief Evelyn/Twitch, Hearseeker Varus, Sweetheart Annie, and the Marauder and Warden skins on the PBE. The latter 4 champions of Gnar, Azir, Kalista, and Rek'Sai, and Sion all look stunning and not overly crazy. But whoever their new artist is that's doing these newer works for the female splashes is just overdoing it and needs to have his/her work toned down.

well the problem is you dont know what kat does when she shupos. My guess is that in that pic she just shupo and that's the portal she uses and getting ready to death lotus

When the new splashes first started coming out, it was cool. But now I'm starting to dislike them. They all look the same. They're leaning forward, they're rushing into your face, they all have that myspace angle where the camera points downward. It's so redundant.

I also really dont like how they are drawing some of the splashes hairtsyles.

Janna and this new katarina, also Ather wing Kayle, have really stringy looking hair. Its super gross looking, it doesnt even look like hair. But its not consistently bad even. Warring kingdoms katarina, and Sweetheart annie have extremely good looking hair. Also the new Ahri splash, and new Akali splashes have really nice hair.

I dont know if it was a different artist who drew Katarina/Ezreal/Janna compared to Warring Kingdoms Katarina, Akali, Ahri. But one of them is way better than the other.

Why do you need a readable picture? If they're in the assassin section, that probably means they're an assassin. Do you not know that you can look at their abilities before you buy them???

Amen. Coming to think of it... "More motion! More weird things happening! More AWEsOME powers!!!!", That looks awefully like their new champion designs (looking at you, Kalista)

I don't really mind the legs much, but it does look awkward, the only thing that really bothers me is the face...ai dun laik et...
