Survey: What role do you most prefer? What role do you most dread playing?

Given the recent discussions about Team Builder queue times, the question of which roles are most desired and which roles are most dreaded seems topical. I have my own intuitions on this, but I thought it might be interesting to toss a simple GDoc poll out there and see what the data says.

Looking at the results, I'm not surprised by the apparent popularity of mid nor the unpopularity of jungle and adc. I'm very surprised by the high popularity of support and the discrepancy between what is unpopular (jungle and adc) and what people think is unpopular (support).

I agree. I can think of a few possible explanations:

It could be that Support is now seen as more fun after the S4 changes, but the "u lastpick u support" refrain continues to echo through the community, just like the "mid or feed" meme.
It might also be that the kinds of people who frequent online fora and take the time to fill out surveys are more drawn to the Support role.

But yeah. Interesting results. They could probably be further explored with a fancier follow-up poll.

The responses so far really are pretty impressively balanced.

I'm curious if the "preferred role" breakdown changes based on rank or not, though.

I like the survey. I do not like that the email addresses of respondents are displayed in plain text on the results page.

Yeah, I thought about that, but Google Docs won't let me set question-specific visibility preferences. Anyway, though, that's why it's prefaced with a big OPTIONAL. I'll also hide the GDoc results once response collection is complete, so it won't be visible forever.

Interesting the results.

My favorite role is mid and that's because I enjoy the playstyle of mage's using abilities to do cool and varied things, this also leads to mid having a lot of counterplay and abilities to come back from a losing lane.

Top lane is the lane I dread the most because right now it's 100% snowball and 0 counterplay. If the enemy is stronger than me (aka their right clicks are stronger than mine) they just simply win and I just can't stand that these days.

I can understand why people don't like ADC, it doesn't feel very rewarding unless you're super ahead. you're supremely squishy and until you get a bunch of items you feel like you do 0 damage. Riot has indicated that ADC has a problem between the power they bring (a lot) and the satisfaction they have (not much). I just know the enemy always seems to do more damage than me in ADC and I don't know why. :S

I've gone from playing Mid, Top, ADC in S3 to Mid, Jungle and a little ADC and Support since the S4 changes. So my flexibility has actually gone backwards this season given I refuse to Top now, my ADC just gets worse and worse so I avoid it if possible and i'm still trying to find my feet with Support with the only Support champ I really enjoy being Nami (I want to like Janna but in lane she feels worthless). My previous most hated role, Jungle, is actually fairly entertaining now with the S4 changes though so far I only play Nautilus and Hecarim as most other i've tried (Maokai, Zac) felt weak (used to do Evelyn but after the nerf I refuse to do tank Evelyn, she's an Assassin, not a tank).

If you ever want to do tons of damage as ADC, play Draven . Practice catching your axes, and you almost ALWAYS have more damage than the other ADC. He is also one of the most snowbally ADC due to his passive. It thrives on kills, not assists. But more gold = more items = more kills = more gold. One of my favorite ADC's, I keep switching back between him and Caitlyn because she is so easy. 650 range ez

That will be possible. I'll probably crunch those numbers later. I think it'll be interesting to see if there's any variance by rank.

As it currently stands, I love playing jungle. It's the role I learned to play League in.

But I dread playing it. No matter what I do, I just can't seem to be where I need to be when I need to be there.

Ganking one lane, the other engages a fight and gets killed. Blames me for not being there to help, lol.

Still have trouble deciding between farming and ganking at certain points.

My preferred roles to play are top lane and mid. Typically 1v1, and I'm usually cautious and aware enough to distract the enemy jungler and either escape ganks or avoid them with careful play.

I have a hard time playing ADC, even though I enjoy the role.
