Why I like the new ranking system
I can work on my Riven top and see how good I get with her without losing LP for my main role, mid, while continuing to play mid and doing good with my main.

Yes, but the people on your team when you're Riven top are going to accuse you of not caring if you underperform because it's not your main role.]
I also really like the new ranked setup, but that's because I try and play all 5 roles (I'm much worse at mid than other roles, I'll admit, but I still try and play it every once in a while). The problem is that a few bad eggs make it seem worse than it actually is. There needs to be punishments for people not taking ranked seriously when they end up autofilled out of their main.

This is the whole point of the new ranking system. If you do badly with Riven, you'll get placed lower in top lane. This way, you get placed against people of relatively the same skill as your Riven top. It takes a bit of chaos to set up at the beginning because you have to lose our way to where you belong, but yeah.
