What's with Lucian?

Idk if it's just my matchups or what, but once a decent Lucian player gets a few items there doesn't seem to be anything you can do. He feels like the strongest adc in the game by far. I saw that his winrate isn't too great, but most of them I come up against you can't even 5 v 1 him without 2-3 teammates dying before killing him. I've never seen this many good Lucian's before. I'm considering perma-banning him from my games as it's starting to be annoying. I remember they buffed him for his skin, has he been touched since then? I'm confused how he's so strong right now. Most of my teams just cannot deal with these godly Lucian players. [sg-soraka]

He hasnt really been buffed, though the new adaptive 20 more attack could have helped things for sure.. but it is depending on the team comps. Lucian will nearly every time out trade someone especially if he is on hit due to him having so many extra auto attacks.

Thornmail is great against him if you are tanky, same with Ninja Tabi (both of which not many buy vs him, but tabi shuts his damage down early hard.) Though do remember that if you are nearly full AP, and he buys Magic Resist, thornmails damage will be very low so unless its a rammus using it.... its not good to buy unless you are mostly adish

Lucian is the Master Yi of ranged DPS - no utility, only dmg. If he doesn't do dmg, he is useless and there is no reason to pick him. In general, he was very problematic champion - the very best in the class - when he had longer range, but these days he feels balanced, because he is not very safe and can be hit in the teamfight AOE, if he wants to get close to the enemy backline.

He feels like the strongest adc in the game by far.

Because he is. He does everything you want an ADC to do, and he does it all very well. He has good mobility, good wave clear, good harass, easy farming, and good objective control. He's also a good early/mid game champ, so with the current length of games being so short on average, there's not really any time he's weak in most games. There's a reason he has such a stupidly high play rate, and above average winrate.

Your best bet against Lucian is to play champions with strong safety mechanics like Tristana or Ezreal or you play around cc locking and punishing him when he extends to go for a kill. He is pretty damn short range, his damage is overloaded but outside of aiming Q through minions and his R he typically can't hit you. This also makes picks like Ashe and Varus viable depending on the support matchup since they can use that range difference and their hard cc to catch out Lucian and punish him.

If you're stuck on Vayne or Kai'Sa or something though, you're basically going to have to hide from Lucian all game and just hope your team is helpful at shutting him down.
