Pokemon questions/game recommendations

So, my pokemon knowledge has some serious gaps in it, but it's exactly the type of game I think I would benefit from just winding down. I played Pearl, skipped a generation, got X for 3DS.

My question: are White/Black worth picking up? Are the sequels worth playing, and what exactly sets them apart? Should I skip Sun/Moon and move straight to Ultra?

My concern is that I'm already too far behind and should just pick up the digital releases of the older games for the nostalgia factor.

I personally didnt like black/white. XY was good and alpha ruby/omega saphire was awesome. Sun and moon was another letdown, which is why im not hyped for ultra. Probably gonna skip those and wait for next. In the end its a question of taste, but its pretty easy to get into the games, not that much lost.

Ultra is looking to be pair of third versions of Sun and Moon. You could probably get Ultra and not miss too much.

And tbh, I'd take the B/W criticisms with a grain of salt. When they came out there was plenty of praise. Aside from the usual complaints about pokemon designs (because when aren't there some of those?), I didn't see much complaining honestly. I enjoyed Gen 5, personally.

Black/White are alright, same with the sequels

X/Y are also alright though its a little too easy at times

The Gen 3 remakes are pretty decent

I actually kinda liked Sun/Moon though the story is a little bit cutscene heavy, I say wait for Ultra.

in terms of VC you got the Gen 1/2 games, wait for crystal if you want a Gen 2 game

Personally, I enjoyed both Black/White and the sequels.

People complain about the postgame content in them, but I've never liked the postgame content in any pokemon game past literal schoolyard battling, so that did not affect me at all.

Definitely play gen 5 games. Sequels are better than just a third version that's more "complete" for cash grab. Skip Sun and Moon.

Gen 5 is by far my favorite, hell my league name used to be a reference to those games
