Comparing the Season 8 Ranked Ladder to the announced changes for the Season 9 Ranked Ladder

After reading the announced changes to the Ranked Ladder, I wanted to compare how big of an impact it would have to the divisions and how they'd align.

Going by the announced changes, it appears there will be exactly the same number of Ranked divisions as there currently are. If anything, this seems more like Riot is just renaming each division in the hopes that they'll end up displaying a player's skill level more consistently. Whether it actually helps or not, though, I'm not too sure.

In any case.. What do you think?

Edit: It occurs to me that I should've used equals signs, rather than arrows, to express which divisions "equal" their Season 9 counterpart.

It seems like it will do a good job with both splitting the upper and lower echelons, while giving a few more meaningful and accessible checkpoints at every skill range. That removal of one division per tier makes each tier feel more meaningful and the next more accessible.

So, basically I think their stated purpose will be spot on.

I think master will be more like d2-d1, maybe even bigger depending how many people they want in it

In the video he said top 1% would be masters (I think?) which would actually be d4 and up
