Real talk though if this actually ends up happening don't visit Italy, especially if you have a compromised immune system or can't be vaccinated for medical reasons.

Two minutes of research showed me that Italy never banned vaccines. However, in August they did repeal a law requiring schoolchildren to be vaccinated before starting the school year. A month later, they rescinded that decision.
Vaccinations will remain compulsory for schoolchildren in Italy for the 2018-9 school year.
