You can hate on Riot for whatever reason, but them responding to this almost immediately and taking care of it is really cool. You can't say that Riot never listens to the community because they definitely do. As someone who also has epilepsy, this makes me really happy. You gotta give them a lot of credit for this.

Wow

Yeah, they reversed course, only after a massive outrage spike both here and on reddit (and, were I a betting man, words from their lawyers, given that this game doesn't even carry a photosensitive epilepsy warning).

Their original response was basically "sorry, sucks to be you, but we're not doing anything".

It shouldn't take that much negative outrage to get this company to pay attention!

Wow

What? They treated it as a joke until the community rioted. They even said they knew when they put it in but it wasn't a priority. I can't tell if you're being serious, joking, or are Riot legals alt account.

Riot bad upboats to the left

Maybe they decided to change it when Kotaku reached out to them about it for their article.

Was wondering why I wasn't seeing them. That's good. I'd rather have them disabled then have them giving people seizures, honestly.

But of course, people are throwing a fit over it and being total assholes. Oh no, the glorified emote you played few games to get. You'll live.

The fact that people downvoted that goes to show how shitty the community is. "THEY DISABLED MUH TEMPORARY COSMETIC REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" Like dude, it was unhealthy for some people. You're not losing anything from it getting disabled for a while.

Wait what? I hardly even noticed it existed in the first place. Maybe it's just the Council finisher, but that thing is really hard to miss and its finisher fanfare is really lackluster.

They took it away from everyone.

so now there is no reason to win this stupid event? nice!

Its All Skillzz5/15/2019, 2:26:37 PM2 votes

Its almost like they could face a major law suit of people started dying from the actual finishers, because of epilepsy much like that 1 banned pokemon episode in japan.

I saw various news articles about the incident before that Rioter post was changed.

Riot only decided to take action because it blew up in their faces and became a public thing (something that could potentially affect their business revenues), not because they actually cared in the first place. And that makes all the difference.

I just don't understand why there wasn't a disable option in the first place? Let alone the fact that finishers have been in the game for while. What's different this time around?

They were removed, only after being harassed + threatened of lawsuits since 0 advisory warnings + prior informing of the epileptic players to "just deal with it." Had more impact on them removing it than players asking them to remove it lol. I honestly don't know why you're giving them credit when we're in 2019 and literally EVERY OTHER COMPANY doesn't even have this issue, has not been DEMANDED to remove epileptic content from their stuff since the 90s cartoon shows. Video games are deliberately made these days in a fashion to AVOID epilepsy. Riot went completely out of their way, and then disregarded the minority and tried to skate on by until the threatening of lawsuits took place due to 0 advisory.

When it comes to a service like a disability, riot most likely jumps in. They rarely and I mean RARELY respond to things like when it comes to game balance and champion design issues.

Strange though...Why is that rioter's comment downvoted so much?!?

Credit, for getting rid of something that could've triggered potentially life-threatening seizures? That is not something to thank for. That is to be fucking expected. That isn't some kind of gracious gift they kindly bestowed upon us. They had to do this.
