A system to appreciate permabanned players
Again, this isn't about having your bans overturned.
As someone who's been playing this game since Season 3, having that main account be permanently banned sucks. At the same time, you kinda get over it when you've been playing on another account. The real kicker is having to go through the grind of unlocking your content all over again. While I do think that the punishment is a punishment and punishments are necessary, but at the same time I feel that it's also a bit extreme in some situations. In the regard of keeping the punishment as a punishment while also providing an incentive to those who are actively attempting to improve their gameplay demeanor, I've thought up a sort-of improvement for that.
Well, I say "I" but I'm sure that others have thought of this. Riot can export some of the banned account's data.
Here are a number of requirements. The banned account must have:
- been available for at least 2-years time prior to the punishment and reached at least level 60
This is due to a few reasons. If you can't reach a high level without being banned, you should reconsider your conduct. Also, level 30 seems to be the "You've played enough to be considered worthy" point due to it being the requirement for Ranked, so twice that level is a good enough starting point. Two years of concurrent playtime seems to be a good length of time to consider and is long enough for a player to build a lasting attachment to their account. Sorry for those who blaze through the levels in a few months.
- been punished for non-heinous reasons (excludes cheating and in certain cases hate speech)
Those punished for cheating, death threats, etc deserve to be removed from the community. That's nonsense that we don't need here. The reason why only certain cases of hate speech apply is due to the contextual nature of the Hate Speech rule itself. While racial slurs and legitimate hateful don't apply to this and receive a fitting punishment, a player is also punished if they say ni**a too many times. It's 2019 and black culture exists. Punishing a culture for their cultural tendencies seems a bit much, huh?
The account to be linked must have:
- been used for at least 1 year following the punishment of the banned account and reached at least level 30
Pretty much elaborated on above. A player has reached level 30. They've taken the time to return to the game, and have been playing for a year which shows that they're attempting to reform and remain in the game. Also...
- Honor level 3
As we know, it takes a bit of time to reach Honor level 3, and shows the dedication of a player to at least keep themselves from punishment. Moreso than remaining in the status quo of Honor level 2, achieving level 3 is an accomplishment. Great work!
Now, for questions. (More to be added as they're asked!)
I'm attached to my account even though I only played for a year. Won't I be considered?
It's great that you're so attached to your account and this game, but some standardization is necessary. And it took you just a year to be permanently suspended? Well. I hope you can understand.
I was punished for cheating even though I wasn't! Will I be considered?
Well, that's up to Riot Support to handle. If you were seriously considered to be cheating, high chance you were. It's difficult to be punished for cheating when you're not. Like, extremely difficult. Or maybe it's not. I've never been punished for cheating so I wouldn't know.
My honor level dropped before I reached Honor level 3. Will I still be able to take advantage of this system?
I'll be as honest as I can be, here. Nobody is perfect, and I don't expect even one punishment to change someone, let alone everything leading to a permanent suspension. Just the fact that you can reach Honor level 3 after having your level drop is amazing in itself, and shows your dedication to improving. Great job! Keep it up! Of course you apply as well.
I personally think that it's a fair system. Let's discuss.
