Average Number of Gemstones per Epic Capsule (Sample mean + confidence interval)

Data came from four YouTube unboxing videos (obviously not the best source, but what can you do) with a total of 51 Capsule openings. I included any gemstones obtained from the bonus chest from purchasing the Epic Capsule Bundle, and in the event that any capsule or bonus chest gave a gemstone skin, I would've counted it as 10 gemstones (there weren't any). All numbers shown here are rounded to the ten thousandth's place, though I did not truncate when doing calculations.

A-priori set confidence level to 95% (alpha = 0.05), THEN collected data.

With n = 51 capsules, a total of 11 gemstones were obtained. I calculated the sample mean to be 0.2157 and the sample standard deviation to be 0.4113.

A 95% confidence interval corresponds to a confidence coefficient of 1.96 standard deviations. The product of this and the sample error, 0.0576, is the margin of error, 0.1129. Sample mean +/- margin of error gives us the confidence interval.

I am 95% confident that the average number of gemstones per epic capsule is between 0.1028 and 0.3286.

I've played this game almost every day since season 2. Since hextech crafting started, I've unlocked 2 gem stones. TWO. This system is absolute shit. I should've gotten at least 7 or 8 by now.

Gemstones is a system that was meant for hardcore players willing to spend a fortune through gambling. It can cost 300+ dollars for a hextech based skin (10 Gemstones).
