Just my two cents on the recent Sexism talk [Affirmative action]
I'll try to keep it short, since I believe there was more than enough talk on the matter. I'm from Israel. Unlike what you may have heard, there are Arabs living in Israel, and an Arabic representation in the government. In fact, Arabic is an official language in Israel, alongside Hebrew and English. [I'm extending on this point, since one of my best LoL friends who is from the UAE, has literally thought that the entirety of Israel is anti-Arabic, as is my impression from global media as well]
Why am I bringing it up? Well, Arabs are a minority group in Israel. You can totally expect there had to be a discrimination of some sort towards Arabs, especially in previous years when Israel was a newly established country. Thus, the government made some proposals to strengthen the standing of Arabs. This had to do with ease of finding jobs, education, etc. All of this fell under Affirmative action [<- A Wikipedia link], which literally translates from Hebrew to Correcting discrimination[!]. (Edit: For extra clarity, the "Correcting" is an adjective of the discrimination. The phrase does not mean "correcting the discrimination". Yikes confusing translations) Now, I'll talk no more of the matter. I highly encourage taking a look at the Wikipedia link provided, or any links given there if you're interested. These can explain the matter better than I ever will. Here's my point though:
I don't believe that it's right to say that Riot, as a whole, has gone to Sexism. In my opinion, their intention is certainly a good one. Moreover, I believe that affirmative action (which is exactly the case here), when done right, has positive results. In this case, the execution was done extremely poorly; Yet, that doesn't make Riot sexist because of the poor execution of some "great minds" out there. That just means that perhaps they should have a larger group supervising those great minds that make the calls to delve into political and controversial issues when you're a gaming company.
PS I do not, in any way, defend the words of some of the Rioters over at Twitter and Reddit (we all know what I'm talking about). Those do definitely deserve a different treatment.
