How many Prestige Points would you have to get for free to feel good about them?

If Riot had PP available in honor capsules and/or missions (let's just pretend for a minute they might do that), how much would they have to give you for you to be on board with prestige skins?

Really curious if there is a number that would work for people. I don't want 100 poll answers, so I'll try to keep the breakpoints sensible.

I would hate it no matter how many Riot threw at me.

Prestige skins are a shitty practice no matter what.

This question assumes they are not basically overpriced separate Chromas.

Trolosaurus1/13/2019, 9:39:49 PM3 votes

Scummy, greedy system that encourages reckless spending and preys on people who aren't good at self restraint

Busty Kunoichi1/13/2019, 9:54:50 PM3 votes

At this point, it wouldn't really matter. I'm pretty much going to hate the system regardless (or at the very least, refuse to support it). If Riot insists on the points, enough to get whatever Prestige skins MF gets, whenever she happens to get them.

Outside of that...

I don't want to deal with it. I don't want to support the practice. I don't want Riot to think this is an acceptable idea in any regard.

The Video Game Industry bubble is about to pop, and it's showing with a lot of the big companies facing bigger and bigger backlash over monetization, deceitful practices and overall stupid decisions.

wouldnt like it either way, at least with kai'sas you had to EARN it by doing missions which is how it should be especially with the title prestige, having the only work for the skin be throwing money at it is bad to most people and loses community respect, stuff like it is way people are starting to accuse riot of becoming money hungry

As someone who doesn't give Riot my money, I don't particularly care.

THIS GAME IS COMPLETELY FREE TO PLAY RIOT DOES NOT NEED TO GIVE AWAY THEIR PAID COSMETIC CONTENT FOR FREE AS WELL

They're gemstones but worse (like they're basically gemstone fragments, 10 fragments adding up to a gemstone) and come off as much greedier cash grab tactic because they're only available by spending money

and due to that, and the extremely sour taste they've already left, I doubt it'll change my mind into ever feeling good about them, regardless if I was given 1 to even a lifetime supply to purchase all and any future prestige skins (which are basically fancier gold chromas for certain skins, and between these and the onslaught of 'special' gold chromas, I'm sick of the dang colour of gold for skins/chromas all together)

If anything, I feel like Riot should be in hot water for this one

Naalith1/13/2019, 10:05:58 PM2 votes

Besides the fact that the system is absolute dogshit to begin with and should be removed wholesale, if there was some "middle ground" to be had we would have to wait until all the skins are out to see how many there are total.

If there's only these two skins? Maybe like 60 to get right up to one then let someone waste $50 on the 6750 RP pack to bridge the gap. If there's one every single patch though? They should probably give people enough for free by the end of the season to make at least one or two.

Riot lost me at the idea of prestige skins. They are getting too aggressive with their skin concepts.

Sincarnation4/17/2019, 8:59:07 AM1 votes

Probably will never feel good about it tbh The implementation was bad at the start and the idea of it is really shitty Luckily im not a big fan of gold so I dont give a shit about most of them, Blood Moon Aatrox being the exception I want it bad, but not bad enough that im willing to throw money at riot to condone their shitty practice

Gemstones/Mythic Skins were/are bad enough, not sure why they would take it further and make it worse

Lord Dusteon1/13/2019, 9:40:19 PM1 votes

Would need to be at minimum 100, since as far as I know the only use for the points is spending 100 for a prestige skin.

Akaash1/13/2019, 9:40:23 PM1 votes

The only skins that should be "prestige" are the yearly victorious skins.

The concept as a whole doesn't make sense because there's no real accomplishment in grinding for tokens other than time wasted, and that's not much different from buying tokens which is money wasted.

I say this despite prestige KDA Kaisa and 100 tokens at the moment, those skins are no different than other skins to me.

Riot should sell ghetto versions of victorious skins for all elos, and release ultimate quality prestige versions for diamond+ ranks while keeping the normal gold elo cutoff for the base version.

( 100 - (Price of Event Pass / Price per Box) ) * Prestige Skins for sale that year

I'm guessing that means somewhere near 75-85 points free per Skin, with a few purchases to allow you to actually collect.

Hexs Fortune1/14/2019, 3:07:47 AM1 votes

I'd like to be able to use my gemstones towards prestige skins in some capacity

Quality Content1/14/2019, 3:16:03 AM1 votes

There's nothing prestigious about something you can buy your way to having. There's no sense of accomplishment there. For the people that wanted these the pass idea was fine.

Project Xayah1/14/2019, 3:16:56 AM1 votes

There is no amount of prestige points that Riot could make available for free-to-play players for me to be content with their use of lootboxes in such a manner. It's a terrible business practice that shouldn't exist, especially in a game targeted towards people as young as 13.

ChickenWrap1/14/2019, 4:26:23 AM1 votes

Add 5 PP to the FWOTD and I'd be cool with it.

Cactus Merchant1/14/2019, 10:22:43 AM1 votes

After biting into limited skins (winter, Halloween etc) only to have them brought back later (despite being advertised as limited) I can't get behind these prestige skins no matter what. Riot is an extremely greedy company that I refuse to support.

I've been on amd off in this game since Season 2 but after that fiasco I refuse to buy anything. That being said these prestige skins are a new low on money grabbing antics.

Daily reminder: it's not worth putting effort to own anything besides champions in this game because bans are a frequent thing

Obviously prestige skins are designed to make money, so I'll keep my answer reasonable and ignore option 4 since it's something Riot would never do. It's fine that they wanna make money off of them, but $100+ for a single skin is just scummy, so I'll say that it should be possible to get some for free by playing the game and keep others for people willing to spend these exorbitant amounts. Idk, I think 1 out of 3 should be achieveable throught playing, 1 out of 5 maybe if it also gives you the base skin (or at least a shard for the base skin) so you can use the prestige skin without paying for the base skin, and it should be achievable through an adequate time investment. I don't know, all I know is that the current system stinks super hard. I'm going with "50" because I don't think I should be able to get all for free, but it should be possible to get some for free.
