Anyone else think the new yorick rework... Looks boring af?

Yorick as he is is a lot more fun than the proposed yorick looks.

And it's hilarious how the killed off his being able to constantly keep up ghouls, being able to sustain, and being able to revenge kill in exchange for yet another "stack at least three," "minigame." Like seriously, the new creation is absolutely unoriginal and generic, and doesn't stick to Yorick's theme at all. The champion is more unreliable than when he started.

Am I the only one who thinks this way?

i think it looks pretty cool. epspecially his new w.

ive also just seen a yorick throw down the maiden to push down a lane (it almost took the enemy inhibitor with the ghouls), while he was chilling somewhere else on the map and still got the gold.

But... How is it interesting to have a minion you just throw down and ignore as your ultimate? There is absolutely no interaction except "attack the same target."

I just feel like it's a lot more generic than what it used to be.

its just one of the ways you can use it.

i think it looks pretty fun how you can summon a swarm of ghouls and then throw his new e to mark the enemy. and watch the ghouls jump on the guy and start beating the crap out of him.

the only thing i will say, is that the reactivation mechanic of his q looks really awkward. maybe they should try to find a better way to issue the command to summon the ghouls.

because often you want to create/wait for 4 graves before raising the ghouls, but the second reactivation of the q kicks in aready at 3 ghouls.

Well his three basic abilities were basically the same thing, just had some different effects.

The fact that you can have a 5v5 teamfight and still have a split pusher doesn't interest you at all? It seems generic?

How interesting is it to have a toplane tryndamere splitpush all game? Not really all that interesting, plus, if it's even remotely strong, it will immediately be cut.

So it's fun to mindlessly spam skills to summon a bunch of minions compared to actually having some mechanics? Also it sticks to Yorick's theme as a necromancer. He collects the souls of the dead to summon them again as ghouls while still keeping a juggernaut playstyle. As for being unoriginal and generic Name me one character who has a summon like he does for his ult. Mordekaiser and Annie don't count because they are time limited and controlled by the player, new Yorick summons a monster that can't be controlled but can basically be permanent if the enemy team doesn't kill it,also name 1 other necromancer in the game who summons based on dead enemies. Let me guess, you can't?

Ralanr1 votes

Technically Mordekaiser. But he has to actively kill his enemy with his ult.

Or by touching the dragon before his team kills it.

LuminosN1 votes

as I said,I wouldn't really count Morde and Annie because they have control over their summons and they are time limited while the maiden is uncontrollable and unlimited

My bad. I thought you said Malz.

Just because it's different doesn't mean it's original. The ult is clearly a mix of kalista's binding passive and a (ooh, different) uncontrollable minion. It's basically a version of his old q/w/e.

As for being fun to mindlessly spam ghouls? Well, I wouldn't say it was particularly fun, but it sure is a lot more farm that last hitting to set up graves before getting minions. That's plain boring.

No a lot of people think that.

While he is miles better than the old Yorick, he's still pretty much the same. His playstyle is mind numbingly boring g and monotonous. Last hit with q all day ( just like nasus).

However nasus is actually fun to play Yorick is kinda zzzzzz. Plus his voice actor with his low sleepy voice makes me feel really drowsy.

I left my complete opinion here, and the Yorick designer did offer his counter points http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/PbaI4hh7-yorick-feedback-after-a-few-games-of-yorick-on-pbe

And this is the official Yorick feedback thread you should post your opinion here for the devs to read http://boards.pbe.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/champions-gameplay-feedback/LHJqRO3e-yorick-update-feedback-thread

honestly, i would make two changes to the new yorick.

  1. increase the cap on his passive to like 8 ghouls. (level scaling if neccessary. 1 additional ghoul every 4 levels)

  2. make him auto summon the ghouls on his e, instead of the weird reactivation mechanic on his q. even if its just 1 or 2 graves nearby, he would get 1 or 2 ghouls.

i mean it would be really cool if he could just decide to set up a large amount of graves by lasthitting with his q and then summon like 8 ghouls in one swoop by hitting his opponent with his e.

imagine he hits the skillshot and an entire horde just leaps out of the ground at his enemy.

Unoriginal? Every single ability is completely new, even his W is too different from J4's to call it a copy.

First you need to consider that while Yorick may have been fun for you, he is an utter snooze fest/ticket to tilt city with his lack of counterplay, constant ghoul poke, and sheer uselessness after the laning phase.

Second: I've played Yorick before and I'll admit he's pretty funny at times, he gets really old really fast because there's not much else you can do but spam ghouls and smack people. There's no real planning involved, just stat check and Zerg rush.

And I can't wait to be downvoted by a bunch of Yorick mains and then told how I'm totally wrong and that Yorick had a bunch of strategic value and outplay potential.

I agree that he didn't have much strategic value or outplay potential, despite that, I really don't believe the new Yorick has much more strategic value or outplay potential either, all the while losing what gave Yorick his identity.

Did the 5v5 teamfight plus a splitpusher on the other side of the map not scream, "Strategic value"?

Does his W not scream, "Outplay potential"? Because trapping something who already used their dash and flash kinda seems like outplay potential. Especially if you get a kill from it.

I mean, it's not really all that great in terms of putplay potential.

Sure, his ult has about as much strategic potential as a banner of command.

And his wall circle thing is oh so interested. It's just an Anivia wall with less effort to trap someone, but destructable. Sure, quite different, but in a way that makes it much less interesting.

I've noticed a downward spiral in LoLs champs since Bard. The spiral has only become worse since Taliyah's release.

The champs are bad and often very broken and the reworks feel like they are trying to baby people like Skyrim quest markers by advertising champion passive mechanics to other players.

Its gotten so bad it feels like if they reworked LB there would be a giant neon sign over LB when her passive pops saying "This is the real LB" and a sign over the clone saying "This one is the fake"

This is exactly how I feel,

However people consider this babying as "fun," and as such LoL gets increasingly more basic and simple, taking less thought and effort to play. It's not fun anymore imo.

Wait, wait, wait. Yorick iz a top lane champion, almost every single top laner is boring and straight forward except few of them (Kled/Gp/Jayce) Just take a look at Nasus, Renekton, Fiora, Irelia, Maokai, Olaf, Gnar, Shen, all of them are kinda simple and have sone similar playstyles. They have to be tanky, usually capable of doing one or two things, farm, and almost always use exactly the same spell rotation. :D It's not about champions, it's about Top lane.

Edit: Forgot to add Garen and Darius to the list. :D

Garen be like: Demaciaaaaaaa > Beng! > FiuFiuFiuFiuWoshWosh > Beng > Badum Tsss!

You are aware that Yorick's new ghouls do not expire if they remain near him or the Maiden, right? He doesn't have to continuously upkeep them like old Yorick because the new ones don't last for 2 seconds and die. You could barely keep ghouls active long enough for anything productive as old Yorick. On top of that, the Maiden of the Mists actively raises ghouls on her own when graves appear, meaning that Yorick can have a total of 9 pets (4 ghouls for him, 1 Maiden, 4 ghouls for her) which is WAY more productive than sometimes have 3 ghouls out at the same time like live Yorick. Plus, new Yorick has tools to chase down and actually stop his enemies so he can close in and beat them to death with a shovel, which will help him sustain if he's building any Lifesteal and consistently using his Q to heal up. New Yorick is in a way better state than live Yorick because he doesn't just hit buttons and make ghouls and sit back and watch. He actually has tools to spar with the enemies and can be an imposing force if left unchecked. I'm sorry, but New Yorick will be immensely better than live Yorick.

But how easy is it to kill these new ghouls? If they die in one hit from most any attack, then there wasn't an overall improvement as most enemies these days have aoe.

Well, first of all, most spawned pets don't take AOE damage. Secondly, even if they do die in less hits, the fact that they do not expire unless they move too far away from Yorick will always make them better than the old ones.

ZT Xperimentor1 votes

Most; also do they take damage from minions? If they do it'll drastically lessen their power during laning, but if they don't then they could be quite abusable. And how far is the existence leashing range? Is it like sona's old auras or her new ones? This too will greatly impact how useful his ghouls will be; if they have the range but double the health then he'll be even more vulnerable to poke & hit/run champions, if they have great range but are frail then they'd be nothing more than distractions. I'm hoping they've been aiming for some kind of in-between.

My point is they're repeating mistakes, while I'm all for unique and interesting gameplay, it makes it harder to balance; and with riot's record of throwing darts for balancing, yorick could fall right back into that pit of nerfed to hell like he originally was.
