PSA urgot’s ult does *not* heal him to full with death’s dance

Pierce The Veal··23 votes·12,748 views

There’s a reason why nobody ever took gunblade or ravenous hunter on him, which both give the same effect when it comes to his ult. It’s because his ult only does incremental amounts of true damage, hence only dealing enough or just over the amount of health needed to execute. Hence, against a real champion, Urgot’s ult doesn’t actually heal that much.

I see there is quite some misinformation, judging by: https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/XiQiGXs8-hotfix-needed-deaths-dance-heals-for-15-of-even-true-dmg-insert-urgot-ult And so I felt this should be cleared up.

Yeah I didn't bother telling anyone in that thread about it since stupid people just believe whatever they want whether it makes sense or not. DD was already a good Item on Urgot though because everything outside of the execute itself is physical damage and the passive increases his sustain so if you were going to buy a lifesteal item it was the one you were already getting. Now it is even better for him especially if they have some high health enemy like a Sion or Cho that you can legit get a 300+ heal off of and not let linger in the fight ccing people.

It sure would have been nice to know cause I bet you anyone that doesn't play urgot seen these interactions https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bpeTmSECQTg

With how bad the balance team is it wouldn't be a shocker if that's how his ult actually worked at all times.

Anyways it's a 300 hp heal when executing 2000 hp targets (which is what all squishy champs have by late game) so using it on champs stacking hp is still going to give an decent amount of hp back.

With how bad the balance team

Are you really implying the programmers are part of the balance team??

No im saying the balance team didn't think about it obviously.

I mean... it's only 15% of the damage.

Yeah, and it doesn’t actually deal 9999 damage or a high obscene damage number. It starts off with something like 100 or 1000 and adds more damage until it kills, which means in a real game you are approximately only healing for a little over 15% of the execute damage

ZackTheWaffleMan2 votes

I think the total damage goes like 10->110->1110->11110->111110->this unit is invulnerable

Rathar Dashing2 votes

It goes with their current health in true damage first, then 10^1, 10^2, 10^3, 10^4, 10^5, 10^6, then it gives up. So, if you have a shield for 1111111 HP, you could theoretically survive an Urgot execute.

Yes, but you still need 1 HP leftover in order to actually survive the damage.

Yeah it was something like so.

That does seem to be the way it works. Practice dummies indeed won't die, so it's reasonable to deal extreme damage to them (even if it fails in the end). Champions on the other hand are not quite that resilient.

Except if they're under the effect of a Tryn or Kayle ult. Can someone please test that with DD? :D

Votable Jester2 votes

I'd assume since they don't take damage you wouldn't heal, but not really sure.

Non-dying target dummies trigger the heal, so a non-dying champ might, too, but you never can tell with Riot. That's why I'd like to see a test.

That is a detailed list someone else made about counterplay interactions with his Fear Beyond Death.

It doesn't mention what happens when Urgot has spellvamp. Someone should test this. Pleez.

Well with Kayle ult I am pretty sure it heals for nothing since you don't damage them. I have had Trynd block it with his like twice and it just immediately lets him go after you suck him in it doesn't hold onto him like the clip of the dummy. The dummy likely isn't setting a flag as being invulnerable with Urgot so the additional damage mechanic which is meant for killing people who heal or gain shields after they are being reeled in just keeps proccing.

But that clip from 2017 doesn't show what happens if Urgot has a Gunblade or the new DD.

Kayle ult is pretty much 100% damage immune. Since she doesn’t take the damage you can’t heal off her.

As lifesteal does not work against champions that take no damage, and the same has always applied for spellvamp, I'm going to assume this is correct.

Rathar Dashing1 votes

Yeah I really thought that if this was a thing, people would have figured out how it works with Ravenous Hunter and just used that all this time.

It's a bit of a shame though, since some execute abilities show around 99999 damage being "dealt" which should technically still heal to full! That being said, would be incredibly overpowered, so if it doesn't, I am glad! ^^

Yeah. It looks really cool though!

But, ultimately, it is more for show than really the damage being dealt.

LordGeovanni1 votes

As i understand it you shouldnt be healing off of true damage at all except Conqourer which is another damage type but a portion is dealt as true damage.

Rathar Dashing1 votes

Death's Dance now heals for all damage dealt, including true damage such as executes, Darius Ult, Twitch Passive and Vayne W.

Normally, true damage also wouldn't apply regular lifesteal, but in the case of Inifinity Edge or Conqueror it still does apply. Any other true damage your basic attacks deal won't heal you without ravenous hunter, gunblade or now DD.

KFCeytron1 votes

Update regarding this matter due to the 9.1 patch:

Death's Dance no longer grants Urgot an excessive amount of healing against Tryndamere's R - Undying Rage or Anivia's Passive - Rebirth

So, it turns out the new DD did indeed heal Urgot to full when ulting an ulting Tryn or an Anivia with passive ready.
