Villain mechanic in a nutshell

Very reasonable indeed.
Seriously though, they should just completely remove it, then see where garen lands after it.

Watching that, someone might see that Villain is too strong a mechanic, someone else might see that Jax needs a buff, someone else might just see a close fight. I'll tell you what I saw.
I saw two melee fighter champions, both starting level 6, and the one with less combat stats, less health, decided to fight the other in their minion wave without his ultimate ability available and lost by a sliver of health. Even though Jax fought the Garen without his ultimate and just barely lost, the streamer believes that Garen is actually the champion who is unreasonable and should be changed because of this pay.
Someone else may look at the clip and think Garen's ult being converted to True Damage is a dumb mechanic and think it should be removed because True Damage is strong, it ignores resistances. But here, Jax doesn't have resistance items and he doesn't have resistances from his Ult because Jax chose to fight when it's on cooldown and Garen's ult is available. So the question becomes would Jax sill have lost? The math says that he still would have because that is how this decision turns out, that's how bad this play is
So now what? Do we nerf Garen to make sure that Jax beats Garen, even when Garen ults, even when Jax doesn't have an ultimate at all?
He won that 100% off the silence.
Keep the true damage, remove the silence.

Keep the true damage, remove the silence.
Then they would have to add some other form of CC for Garen. Without the silence he becomes absolutely useless.
He is a juggernaut.(a manaless juggernaut at that)
He has extreme damage and extreme tankiness. He is similar to nasus the key difference is garen has a speed up and nasus has a slow.
Why does he need a silence?
So he's not just a worse Nasus?
I don't think I've ever played Garen. If anything I'm usually the mage that he gets on top of and silences. He should keep the silence.
Nasus is a worse garen. Slows are so much easier to counter than speed ups.
Removing the silence might be a little extreme so maybe just revert the last Q buff and ill be happy.

what? speed ups are the easiest thing in the game to get rid off. Unless you are Master Yi any slow that comes at you instantly negates any amount of MS boost you get
Ok maybe worded that wrong.
Nasus slow is a hell of a lot easier to counter than garens speed up.
It's so when he lands his Q, he can easily keep you in his E for at least a second.
Why should a champion lose access to their entire kit just so garen can be viable.
Doesn't add up to me.
He can be kited easily so having a brief moment to whittle down hp can really help him in trades and landing kills.
It's no real different from a lot of abilities, actually.
Nasus slow counters auto attackers too...you know...adcs.
You know...QSS.
You could say the same about garen silence?
Except garens silence is his damage ability and by that time he is already on top of you.
Nasus has to use his slow and then GET TO YOU.
The dude is surprised a Garen ult killed him at very low HP? The guy jumped into a minion wave with no ult... derp. leave mah Garen alone!
that was incredibly close. hashinshin would have won that if he waited until he had his ult up before engaging on the garen into 3 minion waves.
it kindof makes a difference when you fight with 3 abilities and your opponent fights with 4.
