point of this assassin rework was to reduce burst, while adding mobility and utility, and improve their theme
Kassadin can one-shot a carry if he is full-build
I think most damage champions can.
Kassadin mobility is shit and limited unlike talon, when kassadin should be the "riftwalker"
...what? Sure he has limited mobility pre 6 (though avoiding creep block is nice) but post 6 he basically has flash on a less than 10 second cooldown. The only downside is the increased mana cost per cast. But the mana items he builds aren't really making him miss out on anything. Lichbane, Archangel, and RoA benefit him greatly!
Kassadin utility is terrible
Yeah. The only utility he has is a super situational targeted ability (in that it cancels channeled abilities) and a slow that requires 5 (6?) abilities to be cast before he can use it (and it still costs mana despite its main requirement).
Kassadin theme doesn't feel like an anti-mage at all except taking less magic damage.
Well when he had an anti mage feel he was pretty stupid. Silences alone don't counter just mages, but any ability reliant champion. Considering how important abilities are in league, it spreader his influence way farther than it should IMO.
Making an anti mage is also making an extremely situational champion. While Riot is getting in the habit of making champions do well in specific niches, I think a full on anti mage champion is too varied even in their niche.
Not saying he doesn't need something. He was one of the few assassins who didn't get anything in the assassin update and the mage one didn't touch him either. So it's possible Riot is saving him for when more immediate problem champions (Galio, Warwick, Urgot, Evelynn, Mordekaiser, Swain, Pantheon, etc) are dealt with.
