Aatrox's new passive -- AS Aatrox is viable now?

Just a thought. If auto-attacks are now included to reduce its cooldown, doesn't that mean building AS on him will become a viable strategy? Probably not full-on on-hit, but maybe Trinity instead of Cleaver first.

And I just tested, Guinsoo's does reduce his passive cooldown further.

Might be a problem, might not actually be something people do. Might just be an option. Idk.

Edit: Important note after further testing. With Aatrox's base AS at level 6 and a full guinsoo's, his passive will proc on the fourth and fifth hit every other rotation. However, with any additional AS beyond that, the animation misses the mark on the fourth hit and it will always proc on the fifth. (I even tested it with the maximum a single champion can have including Legend:Alacrity and Tempo and level 18) It will be faster, but still only ever on the fifth.

His lane sustain is back again thanks to passive proccing healing on minions now. His ultimate is like Yi's and Vayne's now. Towerdives are ONLY possible if you can perfectly execute a full combo and kill your laner. I think Aatro's healing and higher skill expression to execute all of your spells correctly just to be useful gives back the vibes of old Aatrox Immo. One thing for sure tho, if ya wanna leel in teamfights you really better get tankier items thst give you sustain so his overall sustain ksn't cut drastically. Consider building item 3065 and item 3053 more often. Already understandable to buy item 3812 which makes his healing EVEN BETTER overall.

Look at his base atk spd. Was it buffed? I saw nothing in the patch notes about this. His atk spd is abysmal, even with items.

If they DID buff it though, I'd try item 3091. Tankier. Healing Passive. Decent atk spd stat.

I mean, BotRK wouldn't be a bad buy on him right now, its just AS wont be like old AS Aatrox. You still gotta do damage, and most of your damage is in damage rotations, not autoing someone to death. There's a reason why they lowered the passive damage. Cleaver BotRK is your best bet with what we have right now.

I always forget about Ruined King cause I don't play bot anymore lol. Glacial Augment Aatrox might actually work better if Blade makes it into his item pool again.

I'd still run Conq or Grasp. Glacial as much as it helps catch people is nice, but you gotta consider the runes in that tree don't give him good lategame stats other than the 5% cdr.

I'd argue that the gold advantage from Free Boots and Future's Market are indirectly lategame stats, since you simply have more items than you would have had otherwise. Being able to hit your powerspikes a bit sooner or simply come back to lane with an extra potion and Control Ward every back gives you a sizable advantage. You can stay in lane longer and be more aggressive.

It takes a certain mindset to play it effectively, but the fact that Aatrox has more Rune options is a very good thing.
