Why are mage supports so damn painful early game?

Ok sure but why··1 votes·266 views

I'm just casually playing a game of Ranked as an ADC, and their team has a Lulu on it. At level 2 she just chunks me for 500 health in less than a second the instant I went in to kill a minion. What the hell is that?

Exaggerate much -.-

You should honestly run the math before you make such absurd claims.

When I run the math, people say "Just ban her xDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD" instead

Assuming lulu is running windspeakers like EVERY lulu does...

She probably has around 40 ap at level 2 with runes, masteries, and the spellthief item. Level 1 E is 80+40% ap (16) = 96. Level 1 Q is 80+50% ap (20) = 100. 1 auto is 48 damage at level 2. The passive 21+15% ap (12) = 33 96+100+48+33= 277 Assuming you are running standard ADC runes, you have around 32 armor and magic resist at 1 (pretending they got the level 2 advantage on you) giving you 24% damage resist. 277*.76= 210.5 damage.

I smell extreme bullshittery going on.

supports just like tanks have high base damages

and they ( if ap supports ) typically run a full ap page now... meta ya know so early game they have poke and damage but it falls of hard unless they get fed and continue to rush AP instead of support items

aka full ap sona with item 3100

also early game people dont ( or so it seems ) to take in mind the ap poke they will face in the bot lane and might skip out on mr runes or not take any defensive stats in masteries so the damage hurts more

I feel like I want to make a disclaimer here regarding to damage "Falling off"

It really doesn't apply against a glass cannon. Damage never falls off if your not building against it. People don't seem to get this when a 2 item Diver, is still able to burst a carry down, 40 minutes into the game.

You somewhat make this point when you mention skipping out on MR Runes. Though I can't imagine why an ADC would skip out on them. They don't build AP, and if they arn't casters, they shouldn't need mana regen or CDR. So Either flat or Scaling MR should be their best option for standard Glyphs.

Supports have extremely high base damages, otherwise they wouldn't be able to support properly. That's why mages with shitty scaling but high base damages find themselves bot lane.

If you can't bully the lane, you can't really support. Ever lane against a solo lane Bard, lulu, Nami, Karma etc? They hurt.

If all supports had more utility and less damage, everything would balance out on both sides.
