Any mage supp honestly. You can build all of the standard "support" items (fqc+ruby sightstone) and still build a crap ton of damage by just throwing a mejai's on there and stacking off of assists

Baby Ghoul2 votes

There are many reasons.

  • Support itemization is still terrible, after all these seasons. Riot largely neglects supports. We get a bone thrown to us here and there, but not a lot has changed.
  • You must sacrifice yourself for the good of the team. This is a game where many people claim they carried the game all on their own.
  • On top of that people expect you to either die with them or for them when they keep making silly mistakes like going 2v1 against a fed opponent 2 levels ahead of you both. This is the only role where you're punished by the soloque community for not going down with a sinking ship.
  • If your team loses a fight, the support is always the first to be blamed.
  • It's depressing watching your ADC fight like a melee bruiser. All that damage, that range, wasted. I see the appeal of becoming a Tahm Kench main every other game when your ADC runs out in front of the team.
  • "WHY DIDN'T YOU WARD DRAGON?????" Other mains don't realize that wards expire, and you can't be everywhere at once. Am I going to stop in the middle of a skirmish just to continuously ward an area we should all keep track of?
  • We all hate warding, and map control is a huge part of the support role. Despite all this time, warding and map control is still tedious job. You end up doing 75 percent of the warding in 90 percent of the games you play support as. I'm a support main, and I still feel the pain when an item I really want to get is just out of reach because I need to spend 800 gold for 3 wards. You don't exactly bring in the big bucks yourself early on. In this regard you're heavily reliant on your ADC's farming skills and ability to stay alive early on.
  • People in this game are effing bossy towards you, but that's especially true if you're a support. They tell you where to go, what to do, what to ward, when to use an ability, or how to make a PB&J. It can really mess with your play style and turn your mood sour. People seem to assume supports do not know how to support in my experience.
  • If you visit the boards, there are these groups of people that pop into every support thread and say stuff like, "supports want special treatment and think they're better than everyone else." It's stupid.

To me, it's silly to say just roam when your ADC had a bad early game. It's not always their fault. I'm very understanding when my ADC loses lane, and I won't abandon them if they need me. However if my ADC is toxic trash, then I can't exactly get out of lane and roam early game with just an early support item in my pocket, especially against the higher level opponents in other lanes. People do not always want a support in their lane during the laning phase either.

Even though there are so many reasons I think supports need a complete overhaul, I still enjoy the role. I've shifted to it in the past 6 months and come to find it rewarding. I'm just not ignorant as to why I see people go Zed "support" so often.

Supports act like they deserve special recognition for playing a role. I'd rather not be considered one of you either way.

i feel like we do considering the whiny excuse making "adc mains" end up having to get spoonfed by us to actually do what they "claim" to do

Jhaerik1 votes

In other words you want recognition for doing your job.. but hate when they want the same for themselves.

AscendedxBlade1 votes

love support just hate that cant carry in that role your utility with a good team your unstopable with a team that cant work together your a mess,

Jhaerik1 votes

Because you are entirely dependent on your team to win the game for you... unless you play a mage bot and take kills constantly. And frankly I don't trust my teams to do that often.

I'll gladly support a duo partner though.

Artum Tsumia1 votes

You aren't particularly any more dependent on your team to win the game for you than any other role. If that seems to be the case then the role needs to be thought of more similarly to Jungle, your job is to basically make sure that plays happen in your favor. Plus vision wins games, that's another thing Jungle and Support share a good deal of control over. Win lane? Roam. ADC is garbage? Roam. Apply your power where your team will benefit most from it.

BluePolarizer1 votes

I thought this was the case but it isn't.

If you are mid or jungle and side lanes are feeding before the 5 minute mark you are powerless.

If you are top and bot feeds before you hit 6 you are powerless.

If you are bot and top is feeding the enemy Riven or Malphite you are powerless.

Jhaerik1 votes

Except top lane will 9/10 have teleport and help the feeding bot/mid. Mid gets easy roams for kills on pushed lanes. Many mid/tops can carry rather well if they win lane hard due to xp/level advantage.

Jungle's JOB is to prevent lanes from feeding. Mid lane can assist JG quickly on counter jungles.

Some adc's (VAYNE, Draven) can carry a game massively if they do well in lane, or are better players than those they are matched against.

And a sup sona, soraka, janna, name, alister, ect can do.... yeh.

Why people think it's boring:

  • Little to no damage, not being able to kill shit = no fun :((((((((
  • Little to no items to build
  • Having to force yourself to work with another person (same reason why people hate ADC)
  • Support role NEEDS thinking; people hate thinking
  • Having to deal with whiny people and "not being able to do anything about it" (people hate jungling for this same reason)
  • "ew i would look liek a gurl gamer :PPPPPP"
  • "i dont wanna look like i suk and git carryed :(((((((((("

And you wonder why people liked Lulu top and always told me Lulu support is boring.

Too bad people are missing out, it is extremely rewarding and fun when you can make people suffer simply because you used thought. Other roles don't have that kind of awesomeness.

Veraska1 votes

Primarily because dealing damage and really carrying is more fun then getting my damage dealers fed and carrying by proxy,

Try getting good at a hard carry, like vi or hecarim, watch as you get to control the game and do damage, agency is fun and supports unfortunately lack that

I actualy LOVE playing support, especialy Janna Nami

But I hate playing support in solo Queue.

You are placed in a lane with someone you don't know. You don't know their playstyle, you don't know if they are good, and if vayne turret dives at level 4 she WILL blame you because you didn't shield her, (while you actualy did). I prefer to play it with a friend I know so we have a better synergy.

I don't hate support

I hate bot lane
