When is Jayce going to be addressed?

At present, he's a mass of strengths with no real weaknesses who starts out as a lane bully and scales into a hypercarry. He fills several roles at once and can play around and easily dominate any lane opponent while fitting into any team composition from dive, to poke, to split. Personally I think his base damage and power in lane needs seriously dialed back. Being safe AND dominant is just unfair, and frustrating to play against. He's a fun-ruiner and a game-pre-decider.

Okay, I hate Jayce as much as the next guy, but saying he scales into a hypercarry is absurd.

His laning phase is way over-tuned, but if he doesn't snowball off of it, he falls off extremely hard.

Yes he deserves nerfs, but you can't ever claim that he has a good late game. Especially calling him a 'hypercarry'. lol

lol he has a great laning phase and falls off. I'd expect to hear more complaints about poppy, who ignored laning phase 'cause you cant do anything to her, and then becomes a fucking monster late game.

You've never seen him 100-0 a full hp carry with only e-q, melt towers like theyre nothing, and put out adc-level sustained damage during extended fights even against tanks? You've never seen someone play Jayce correctly.

You've never seen a decent team face him then.

And yes, I'm implying you're doing something wrong.

How strong Jayce is early-mid game is the issue. His late game is laughably weak.

sub-50% win-rate any time past 30 minutes despite being 'a mass of strengths with no real weaknesses who starts out as a lane bully and scales into a hypercarry'.

It isn't laughably weak, but it is weaker than most opponents that beat him early game. He can 100-0 your carry, but why the fuck would the ADC be out in the open like that? That'd be an actual mistake on the ADC's part.

None of this is true.

His E>Q in ranged form could do true damage and it still would not be enough to 100-0 an ADC who isn't far behind.

He can't put out ADC-level sustained damage because he has exactly one AA steroid that isn't particularly good, and he doesn't build attack speed or crit.

For similar reasons he doesn't melt towers as well as they do either.

Hate on his early to mid game all you want, but come late game he's nothing compared to a hypercarry.

Vayne casually dumpsters him 1v1 and provides more DPS to a team, Twitch probably can't duel him but provides waaaaaay more damage in team fights and has better assassination potential. These are actual hypercarries.

Jayce is only capable of doing those things late game if he has snowballed heavy and still has a big lead. He just happens to be capable of snowballing so hard because his early game is absurdly stupid.

What we really need to talk about is how, if you Dance Spam while facing a certain direction...

Jayce Twerks.

So pretty much the same argument of a champion having too much and gets constantly ignored? Sounds like Yasuo before he finally got a nerf to address his tank issue but still did not out'right cleaned up his power in 'standard' play. Very sure since considering just like how Nidalee's ultimate is in the form of her cougar shifting is the same argument as Jayce, both are shift type champions who get scummy kits that can be versatile for both range and melee purposes, though one is more centered around standing against the tough top lane fighters who carry quite a load of B.S. power too like:

Nautilus who after seeing his full kit, makes me feel like he is more of a CC and damage harass fighter then CC derp tank since his passive lets him root hit 'everything' around him and the cool down is link to that target, plus each of these hits do bonus damage. His W grants bonus damage and a AoE hit on the autos, his E is a 3 splash slow AoE which to me is like a more 'reliable' Ahri W in terms of doing multiple hits and CC and of course, his Q and R just let him plain shenigan play with you. Either way Passive and W: Freelo damage for him.

Darius : Big Damage, AD spike, Free'lo passive armor pen and true damage dunk targets, need i go over everything?

Illaoi : Just like the rest, can pure tank build and still wrek stuff, really shows out in Poro king's new mode where she can wrek a team gathered on the poro king with one simple jump in and R dunk. Basically means said thing can also work in other game modes too.

Though it was just recent i finally got to play Jayce via free rotation, i'd say he feels fun and not ridiculously scummy compared to the rest of the champions. More like his ultimate's power potential got spread out on his entire kit instead which lets him have more fair play on having each ability be relatively strong since each of them gets a extra rank linked to them, but definitely after doing some proper examining, he is quite a hard champion to play right, not done right he will get screwed over and could end up in a spot of where he might have difficulty catching back up. Very least also least Jayce's R does not rank up at all, unlike how Nidalee's can to give power potential to all her kit at once or Gnar who gets to get a massive passive bonus on top of powerful active ability thru his ultimate depending on which form he is in.

I would need to play with him more since i decided to give up on Quinn and decided to pick up Vayne then changed that to Jayce since my experience on Vayne felt 'dirty' at how much her Q can cheese kill opponents. Course im the person who if i play jungle i'd rather stick to Kindred or Shyvana because both are 'fun' champions to play, compared to boring rush dive a holic champions like Rammus, Hecarim, Lee'sin, Nocturne, etc. which feel more like they just lock on to you, dive and easily get away with the kill. But if Jayce is actually a strong against champions like Sion, Darius and Illaoi then i'd actually like to unlock him because any champion who can middle finger the norm picks of a lane is a champion i would already enjoy before i read thru what they do first.

[slayer-jinx-catface]

P.S. did check a few things to get some ideas on him and it seems like some of them point out how he does counter Darius Illaoi Nautilus to some degree. Which i definitely would assume since sans Nautlius throwing a Q on your or a wall, all of them can be hard poked down for damage due to lacking any actual mobility in their kits and then 'jumped on' after being tapped down a bit(because just like Gnar, the range gimmick lets them get more reliable poke and CS control then being forced to constantly trade with the enemy as they CC you every time you try to last hit minions), maybe a few of their abilities got on cool down while trying to snag you and maybe even wasted alot of mana to try and hit you while Jayce has that W mana sustain in hammer mode to make his item 3004 build grab less necessary to his kit. Plus i'm sure we all know how good some champions are when they don't have mana issues or even mana to begin with in sustaining a lane.

I do think he needs a nerf, but a very small one. If you saw IEM, there was a jayce who got bodied by nautilus. The only problem with jayce is that he wins every match up against a carry top in the laning phase

I love how people forget how balanced he was (and yes, I do mean balanced. He had a 50% winrate for the longest time after release) before Riot starting giving him random buffs like the reduced mana cost on his E and the passive hammer form AD ratio. If they revert the buffs people would stop crying and realize he's not that bad how he was.

PS. He's definitely not a hypercarry, and he doesn't 100-0 an ADC with just an E-Q. He can destroy squishies with a full combo and yes his poke is very strong but one single E-Q will not do more than 400-550 damage and all you have to do to dodge it is stand behind minions.

WoonStruck1 votes

The mana costs hardly affected him.

E was maxed last, meaning that the mana buff didn't affect him at all until level 13+, when he already started to fall off.

The issue with Jayce is that he was balanced around building Tear despite not requiring it at all. Now that people aren't going tear and an AP ratio was changed to AD, he just does way too much early game.

Jayce is a melee champion with a ranged marksmen form the problem is the ranged form is far too strong for you to even want to touch the melee form. if they make his ranged form bad enough that you go into it when you are low and need to sustain after takeing lots of damage in melee form then maybe he will be like he was inteded to be and not super toxic to everyone that isnt him. im aware i will massivley change his play style but he wasnt designed to be ranged poke but yet thats the part that is constantly buffed .
