Sona's lack luster impression

So am i the only one who plays this champ and just have a constant feeling of "well i was of basically zero use as a support" for pretty much the entire game. Her ultimate is great for engage/disengage but outside of that i never really feel like my plays have much of an effect on the game as a whole. The bonus damage from Q often just feels unimpressive in the over all battle. Her heal and shields rarely feel like you are saving someone or that the mana cost was worth the investment. Her movement speed bonus is so short lived and on such a longer timer that it just doesn't feel like you got yourself or your team to the destination fast enough to warrant the need for it to be a part of your kit. For a champion designed around buffing your whole team, does anyone else feel like actually doing that just leaves you feeling MEH.

You see a Leona land a zenith blade into stun it's clear what she did and how she is helping her team. Thresh hooks someone or uses his lantern to pull a team mate out of or into combat. TahmKench scoops up his ally and saves them from death, Braum leaps in and tanks a bunch of damage thus saving his ally(s), Soraka quickly heals several hundred points of damage over and over, Janna manages to disengage the enemy team allowing her team to win the trade, etc.... For all the other supports you have a clear "thing" you do and when you do that it has a clear result, be it saving an ally or engaging on an enemy, so long as you are good at doing your "thing" people notice. How often do you see someone going "thank god Sona gave me that damage boost to my next auto attack, against non structures"; "oh thank god Sona was there to negate that small amount of damage"; or "We never would have made it in time if not for those speed boosts from Sona"

Outside of landing a good ultimate, She never (personally) feels like she contributes much to the game as a support.

What are other peoples thoughts? As a support do you often feel like you are contributing to your team, besides your ultimate? To be clear your poke damage isn't being counted here (Supports are not judged on their damage output)

so if i walk into lane and a sona q powerchord half healths me, that doesnt matter because ????? sona is not weak i dont know where people get off saying sona is bad her damage is great, her heal is fine, and i honestly have no idea why people refuse to level up her e, people on here say they dont level her e until level 13 are you fucking kidding me??????????? not one point for the 10% or however much movespeed???????

and dont compare soraka's healing to sona's, or leona's cc to sona's, or janna's disengage to sona's. these comparisons are not correct in any way because sona, much like nami, is considered to be a well rounded support, offering a mix of a little bit of everything compared to the specialized healing of soraka, etc

So in other words Sona and her team are already leaps and bounds ahead of you in the game? Since to half health you at any point in the game Sona would need a Lich bane and some decent AP, while you had no magic resist AND lack a good means to counter burst.

As for her damage let me ask you this, would you rather have Sona or ANY of the other mage characters as your mid lane APC? If you were playing against a enemy mid lane sona would you be unhappy since her damage is so "great"?

When since her rework has Sona had even half decent healing for the mana cost? MAYBE when it was a 1% buff per 1% missing, but even then it wasn't amazing. The shields look amazing on paper but when you are trying to keep one ally up a heal for 150-160 and a shield for 200 on a 6 second cooldown, isn't going to do much against the enemy champion busting out 1000+ damage per 3 seconds.

As for her movement speed here is why people don't level it "it's a 1% buff per level", which i would hope you would know even if you only play her once in a blue moon.

As for comparing supports, you used Nami as an example so i will use her for the comparison, since they are both "well rounded supports". Guess what Nami can do that Sona can't? did you guess crowd control pre 6? Did you guess crowd control on something better then a 120 second base timer? Nami's well rounded points are that she can poke, heal, buff, and CC. All of which she does well but there are champions that can do it better. Sona gets a good poke for a Support character, and a bunch of one use buffs that all have to be applied at almost melee range. She doesn't get a hard CC ability until level 6 and even then it's on a 120-CDR timer.
