Pro play sucks, casual play sucks
Season four and five was the best League ever was..than key stones happened
What made pro play so fun to watch is we were watching the worlds best players execute champions at the highest level possible, we were seeing interesting strats that casual players would never pull off due to them being uncoordinated and messy. We would see historic stall strats and huge comebacks made, that would keep fans on their toes, staring closely at the screen.
In casual play we had some of the best balancings that people fondly remember where a wide variety of champions could be played. sure it had it's flaws, but it did not feel so meta restricting as it does today where it's play meta or bust. As a jungle main I feel I literally can not win unless i'm playing the all mighty warwick for he has the most overloaded toolkit out of everyone where he can serve as both utility, a carry, a tank, a counter jungler, a speed farmer, he's just so much of a do it all champion. Point is though the meta felt diverse, especially in season five. Which in return made pro play fun to watch.
In pro play people want to see the following.
-Interesting strats -Their favorite champions on screen -Legitimate out plays
With how this game is balanced none of that is offered, we see the same strat every game, the same champs every game, and damage creep is so high that you can hardly call it a out play.
That being said it's hardly fun to play this game casually as damage creep is so high it's frustrating, champion diversity feels so low and restrictive that it's almost choking, and honestly, it's the same strat to win every game, camp bot lane and win.
One of the large blames to the horrible balancing was the runes, as runes got worse and worse every season. Personally I don't see how riot didn't predict the serious consequences that would come with reworking a system that your entire game was balanced around for years. Maybe they did but didn't expect it to be this bad, but point was, having every champion in the game forced to be balanced around a keystone just sucks. The champions are meta are the ones who best abuse keystones, and the ones who aren't are the ones who can't really claim a favorite. Which is the large reason conquerer was invented since so many bruisers quite literally did not have a key stone in the first place, a problem that was not fixed till nearly mid season.
We are forced to endure changes everyone begged riot not to go through with like scuttle crab and the baron buffs. but riot does not listen and even when they are blantently wrong, they go through the biggest ego trip to defend their changes like with dynamic que.
I love this game, it's my favorite game, but riot really needs to admit they fucked up this season.
Changes around pro play does not make pro play fun to watch. Changes to make your game a better game is what makes it fun to watch.
For when players are having fun playing the game, it makes them admire pro players, for they are watching their favorite game, and their favorite players execute the game to the highest level.
But when players hate playing the game, it makes them hate watching pro play, for nothing feels fun to watch.
People love watching football, for they find football fun and want to watch the best of the best. If football was not fun to play, than it would not have it's numbers, and the same can be said for any sport that made it big on the screen.
MAKE THE GAME FUN TO PLAY AND PRO PLAY WILL BE FUN TO WATCH
